a closer look at mitre peak, was getting bored of taking the usual 16 and 17mm the previous day. truly a fascinating place, mood changes quickly, weather is so unpredictable it's quite a challenge to get a good image. a place that will test your ability to adapt to the conditions and just soak up all the experience.

I always wanted to try a D810 with 36 megapixels.
That was back in 2014 when it was released - before I realised what sort of photography suited me best. Back in the day all those pixels came with a weight (980g without a lens),
This shot was in 2016 and I had just bought a used Olympus OM-D E-M5 with a single battery that had run out and I spent a whole day shooting with this Lumix LX7 with a mere 10 megapixels. At the time a didn't appreciate how liberating it was.

A fly basking on a Euphorbia hyberna plant. This large brightly coloured plant is abundant along verges & hedges here in Cork & Kerry. It's better know as Irish Spurge. The tiny yellow structures above the fly are the actual flowers.

A view of the temperature inversion in the Ribble Valley this morning. Seen from Pendle Hill looking towards Downham, (I think!).

A picture of a group of 25/26 people, (not quite sure), and not a mobile phone in sight. These people were on a guided tour of Manchester; the picture was taken as they passed through Albert Square; the site of Manchester Town Hall. When it’s not raining the Square is a very popular place around lunch time with workers from the surrounding offices sitting on the monument steps and benches eating their lunches and using their mobile phones; they can’t do without either. So to have this many people in one shot without a phone is a very unique sight ….. I know it’s cheating a little as they were paying attention to the guide, but it’s still true.
A long range shot of some Welsh Woodland lit up magnificently last week.
A crop from a much bigger 3:2 shot that I think works better in High Res on a big screen. This is the abridged version for the mobile generation.

A little foreshadowing of autumn, taken last year in Reno. Actually, autumn begins today, so never mind the foreshadowing. This is the real deal. I truly believe that autumn is my favorite season. It's a time of color and a time for reflection, as the natural world moves quietly toward it's winter slumber.

A Heavenly Morning - One of the images taken on my recent trip to Dorset. I was lucky enough to have some amazing conditions - especially some wonderful lingering mist on my last morning there. This image is a lesson in always looking around for additional compositions. Its very easy to get distracted by the "main event" and miss an image unfolding just behind you!
In this case I was (of course!) shooting Corfe Castle, and happened to look around and noticed the waves of mist unfolding across Corfe Village. The tower of St Edwards Church was rising just above and casting lovely shadows through the mist, accompanied by whisps of smoke from a few chimneys as the village started to wake.
Its quite a gentle image - which I like, and the more you look at it, the more you see through the mist and notice all the details of the village!

Edit: Removed my previous rant. I feel bad for writing about someone who just deleted himself. Lmao. On a lighter note, I can't wait 'til Breaking Dawn comes out! *fangirl mode* I have no idea how I'll concentrate on my exams which happen to be 2 days after the release.
