A rare Red Rainbow at sunrise this morning close to the Ratcliffe Power station...whilst I was photographing the sunrise behind the power station, this beauty was happening behind me....so glad I spotted it before it disappeared.
How brilliant the leaves of a Dogwood tree get in the fall. It's as if they have a totally new personality now.
Thanks everyone for your views, awards, comments, invites and faves.
Robert Frost
In Bacup
Lancashire
A hillside thaw
By Robert Frost
To think to know the country and now know
The hillside on the day the sun lets go
Ten million silver lizards out of snow!
As often as I've seen it done before
I can't pretend to tell the way it's done.
It looks as if some magic of the sun
Lifted the rug that bred them on the floor
And the light breaking on them made them run.
But if I thought to stop the wet stampede,
And caught one silver lizard by the tail,
And put my foot on one without avail,
And threw myself wet-elbowed and wet-kneed
In front of twenty others' wriggling speed,-
In the confusion of them all aglitter,
And birds that joined in the excited fun
By doubling and redoubling song and twitter,
I have no doubt I'd end by holding none.
It takes the moon for this. The sun's a wizard
By all I tell; but so's the moon a witch.
From the high west she makes a gentle cast
And suddenly, without a jerk or twitch,
She has her speel on every single lizard.
I fancied when I looked at six o'clock
The swarm still ran and scuttled just as fast.
The moon was waiting for her chill effect.
I looked at nine: the swarm was turned to rock
In every lifelike posture of the swarm,
Transfixed on mountain slopes almost erect.
Across each other and side by side they lay.
The spell that so could hold them as they were
Was wrought through trees without a breath of storm
To make a leaf, if there had been one, stir.
It was the moon's: She held them until day.
One lizard at the end of every ray.
Yesterday Cosco Universe passed our city Terneuzen.
One of the largest cargo vessels. It measures: 400 meter in length and 58 meter wide. This one can contain 21.000 containers. Fascinating to see!!
Taken with my smartphone from a large distance, so the quality is middling ;-)
Thank you for watching, your comments,

Much appreciated!

A peaceful stroll around Lac Blanc, nestled in the heart of the Vosges. Fresh snow blankets the peaks, having just fallen, still pristine. A true delight to wander through, to hear the soft crunch underfoot, and to give in to the urge to press the shutter. ❄️
A glorious morning in Banff...yesterdays rain went up in smoke, the snow of the night was slowly melting and the sun was shining on thousands of yellow larches...the next days I'm gonna bore you with this particular morning...

Coloseum
Dazzling arrows of love and the night whisper of vineyards
Glorious Rome
Feasts of a slave; out with it, mouths of libraries!
Old smoke, that old smoke
Nero and Kaligula, dust and granite above everything
Glorious Rome
Emperor, horse, soldier, beggar, time took it all away
Old Rome
Glorious Rome, show it, glorious Rome
How many betrayals, plots
How many times - Pride and fall
Dust is the price of glory and glory stands in dust
Glorious Rome
So read Nomen Omen, time is a wise stoic
Glorious Rome
Glorious Rome, show it, glorious Rome
How many betrayals, plots
Ah, how many times - pride and fall
Coloseum, pride and fall
How many times the time has stopped (x2)
Glorious stone is alone
Coloseum, Glory is fall
How many times the time has stopped (x2)
The stone is alone
Above everything
Alone

This wonderful rocky coastline is a short way round the coast from the sheltered town of Beachport in South Australia. This was one of those amazing places where the waves break very close in to the shore. It captivated me for an hour or more.

In a simple street you can find the whole world: You can find joy and sorrow; you can find good and evil, silence and noise; you can find all the comedies and all the tragedies! An ordinary simple street is the mirror of the whole world!

Have not been on Flickr much the last days. I will try to catch up with you this weekend.
A Female Rose-breasted Grosbeak came a little closer to see what I was up to, perfect time to photograph her I thought.

This is a composite made from the overhead structure at the harbor in beautiful Dana Point, CA. If you look carefully you will see that the rights side is a mirror images of the left. I did this to create the symmetry in the shadows to accentuate the lines as well as the geometry of the structure. My goal here is to draw the viewer into the photo with the powerful lines created from the bright sunlight and the deep shadows.
Just a scene across Looe Beach looking over to the Banjo Pier with the navigation light clearly visible .
Even if a few relaxations of the lockdown have started to come into place today - reckon any ideas of getting west of The Tamar are a long way off !! Come the time Kernow does open up , with overseas travel being even more of a problem ( not for us - we never travel overseas ) the South West is going to be inundated !!
We will just have to trawl through the archives a lot more !!
Even dogs love a nice view. Here we are well on our way down from Skafonnfjellet, the mountain we walked up in the previous posting. I thought I had to take you back down again too, since I have tempted you to follow me all the way up :-)
In the mainphoto Varg enjoys the views north towards Håheimsvatnet and further on the smaller Bolsetvatnet. And of course the mountains surrounds them! I am pretty sure he would love to walk them all. There is grouse on most of them, and who knows, he might be a splendid bird dog.
There are more photos in the first comment below here.
PS: I wonder what you, my dear friends and contacts, can handle. In Norway we have a few "interesting" traditional foods. One that is mostly known from the place where I grew up at Voss is Smalahove. Sheeps head.
I am the leader of the local ungdomslag en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Noregs_Ungdomslag and one of our traditions is to arrange a Smalahove party in the local ungdomshus every last Saturday in October. To be able to that we prepare the sheep head a month ahead, a rather huge job for a party with 105 guests + the people cooking serving and so on.
This year I and a friend took a series of photos of the tradional way of burning off the wool, and all the other processes needed to make the worlds best Smalahovefest. I like this food a lot, and I like to be part of keeping up traditions that use all of the animal and gather the community to a fun night together.
Would you be able to stomack these photos?
We had a stretch of very hot weather and with humidity in the nineties so decided to try to capture some Butterflies/Dragonflies since they're usually very active with these conditions. I had the camera inside with AC and I guess when I stepped outside it started do develop some condensation either on the lens or on the sensor not really sure. When i started shooting I couldn't get a clear image not matter what I did even stopping down the lens didn't really make a difference it was like a veil had come over my camera.
I thought there was something wrong with the camera but as I was returning home and took a couple more shots it started to clear up so that was a relief. I was able to save some of the photos even though it was hazy I thought it gave an ethereal feel to the image.
Anyway thank you all for your kind support, have a great weekend !
