Kilchurn Castle is a ruined 15th and 17th century structure on a rocky peninsula at the northeastern end of Loch Awe, in Argyll and Bute, Scotland. Access to the Castle is sometimes restricted by higher-than-usual levels of water in the Loch, at which times the site effectively becomes a temporary island.
It was the ancestral home of the Campbells of Glen Orchy, who later became the Earls of Breadalbane also known as the Breadalbane family branch, of the Clan Campbell. The earliest construction on the castle was the towerhouse and Laich Hall
With storm clouds approaching from the west I was ready to give up on the nights plans for photographing the super full moon, but fortunately David Wang was already on the road when I called and so I decided to take my chances and meet him down by the river. It was a warm and balmy evening as the thickening clouds repeatedly hid then revealed the moon in interesting ways. In-between moon appearances we were entertained by geese and goslings, a beaver, along with a variety of boats and kayakers making their way along the river. It turned out to be a great night along the river. NB13403,05 - Happy Moonlight Mondays!

Rather nice panoramic view "up" O'Connell Street from the top of Nelson's Pillar. We think this was taken around 1950, but would love confirmation or suggestions to the contrary.
Very surprised when I zoomed in to see that the clock actually said Clery's Store - referred to by generations solely as Clery's!
Date: Circa 1957/1958 and no later than 1961/62 (thanks to DannyM8, Mr Tayto, Archiseek).

I've added a few mountains in the notes for reference but missed plenty, feel free to add any.

We visited the Ladies' Bathing Place at Portrush, Co. Antrim a while ago, but this "Bathing Place" seems to be for all inhabitants and visitors to Portrush.
Looks as if they're waiting for a Punch & Judy Show, or some form of children's entertainment from the chap in tights with the fiddle/violin?
Date: 1900??

This one is for Munich.
For all the fantastic architecture whether the old or the new one.
For all the breweries and the most delicious beer in the world.
For all the rollercoasters at the Oktoberfest which make so many people happy every year.
This is to the people.
To all those people sitting outside in the sun even though it is freezingly cold.
To all those surfers who are surfing no matter the season.
To all those drunken strangers at the Munich beer festival which are friends for one night.
I love you guys, you are my inspiration, you are my life.

I shot this scene on a whim in the whee hours a few minutes from dawn along a dark county road between Jamestown and Chinese camp along California highway 49. The landscape is full of rolling valleys and hills leading up to the Sierra Nevada mountains to the east. As I pulled over I noticed this fence and the tall dry grass that surrounded it and just as luck would have it the bright center of the Milky Way was almost perfectly aligned in formation behind the fence mimicking the angle of the fence posts. I love being able to capture a scene as it unfolds before my eyes. Within a few moments dawn was on the horizon and the Milky Way disappeared in the blue light of dawn. If you get a chance to gaze the Milky Way consider yourself lucky because light pollution is destroying our dark skies and gradually degrading views of this majestic ribbon in the sky. As you may notice in the image the presence of an orange glow along the horizon. This glow is from light pollution from the towns Oakdale, Modesto, and Merced, Ca. I would love to see more done to prevent light pollution so I can create more amazing images of the night sky. Thanks for Stopping by please feel free to comment or critique my work.

As Darrell and I walked back across the campus after a session with the WIU Hot Shots photography club in the University's photography studio, we spied a stand of dandelion stalks softly lit by the setting sun. Neither of us could resist pulling our cameras out and taking some shots. This image of one going to seed is probably only the second dandelion picture that I have posted to flicker in the last couple of years. To obtain the shot, I used the articulating LCD (instead of the viewfinder) while holding the camera down near the ground. It was processed in Lightroom 5 using a radial filter.
My attitude towards these prolific and tenacious weeds has radically changed since moving out into the countryside of western Illinois. I used to fruitlessly try to eradicate them from the lawn... but now, because of the sheer overwhelming number of them and the huge size of the lawns out here, I am content to keep them mowed down with the rest of the grass. :D

A nearly complete curve.
Workers replaced track atop the structure around the S-curve at Hubbard Street (just north of the Merchandise Mart station on the Brown & Purple Lines).
Work was largely wrapped up on the curve on this final weekend when the Wells St. Bridge was also closed for construction, consolidating and minimizing inconveniences and improving efficiency on the project.

Malcesine is a small town on the eastern shore of Lake Garda in northern Italy. Malcesine is located between the mount Baldo and lake Garda. It's a picturesque tourist resort with cobbled lanes and a castle, crammed between the blue lake waters and the massive mountain ridge behind, Monte Baldo. In the summer months Malcesine is a hive of innocent hedonism, packed with pottering holidaymakers gorging on ice cream and sunseekers draped along the lake shore. It's not all laziness, however, as the town's ferry connections to other lakeside resorts make it a good base for sightseeing and the cable-car running up to Monte Baldo is a magnet for cyclists, walkers and paragliders. Lake Garda is the largest lake in Italy, and Malcesine lies towards the narrow and mountainous northern end, often compared to a fjord. The town is situated at the edge of the Veneto region, in the province of Verona. Malcesine is a good exercise in Italian pronunciation: the name is pronounced approximately MalCHESinay.
The historic centre of the town Malcesine is a surprisingly intricate with a labyrinth of small shopping streets. In the antique town center, full of shops and typical local bars and cafes, you can visit almost intact antique monuments. There is a market every Saturday morning in the market square, but markets aside there is a great range of interesting shops. It seems the salesman of the antique shop is having a bad day.

Thinking about all my peeps today... Especially those who are not around any more to share a glass of wine or a laugh. Maybe watching the Dave Allen documentary last night had something to do with it!

Starbucks Coffee Company recently invited me to make a presentation about night photography for its internal photography club. It was a terrific event for which I had nearly a month to prepare. I was never nervous once until a few seconds after the presentation started. A bout of apprehensiveness struck me, which was really all in my head. Nothing unfortunate or embarrassing occurred!
Fortunately, I had a very good-natured and engaging audience. After a brief microphone sound-check took place two minutes into the discussion, and a few playful quips into the mic (i.e. Recall Joey’s popular quote from the “Friends” television series, “How You Doin’???”), I was ready to go! Laughter from the audience is always reassuring.
There was a turnout of approximately 70 individuals, and the head of the photo club told me he couldn’t remember the last time a presenter received audible applause at the conclusion of a presentation. I thought I could have done a lot better, but the overall feedback I received was -- to my delight -- extremely positive. Like most human beings, I am my own worst critic. On top of that, amidst the preparation, I was exhausted from multiple aspects of my daily routine from the previous month leading to the event. No complaints, though. Every minute and every second of this photography venture has been worth the effort.
If you would like to see the “Introduction to Night Photography” presentation (revised to target an online audience) and the concluding photo video, both are currently on my official blog. Pictures taken during the presentation are posted there as well. If anything, viewers can take humor in my nerdy voice and fashion sense. Please feel free to share the presentation and video with your friends and colleagues.

The Photo:
This is a view of Seattle’s SoDo (South Downtown) neighborhood, which is essentially the city’s warehouse district adjacent to Harbor Island, which serves as the Port of Seattle. Starbucks’ world headquarters is located in SoDo. I love the bright lights of the port in combination with the thick clouds engulfing the Olympic Mountains along the horizon.
Even Seattle’s warehouse district has an alluring charm!

The light from a thousand stars, some of it travelling for more than 10,000 years, finally ends its journey in my camera.
This photo was taken from my favourite star location, Porteau Cove Provincial Park, on a brightly moonlit night, and is a rework of a series of images I shot in January.
This is made up from 191 stacked photographs, taken at 16mm, f/3.5, ISO 2500, and with a little creativity applied in Photoshop.

Lake Garda is the largest in Italy. Its wider part to the south is surrounded by morainic hills that were left following the glacier recession, while the narrow northern part is enclosed by the mountains that create its fjord-shape and provide a very mild Mediterranean climate. The luminous environment, temperate climate, and flourishing vegetation - mainly olive and lemon groves, palms, cypresses, oleanders and orange trees - along with the majestic landscapes are the background to the remarkable historical and cultural remains spread all around and make this lake the most charming in Italy. Given the intense colour of its water with a marked shade of blue and matchless transparency, Due to its natural beauty, impressive scenery and reliable thermal winds, Lake Garda is one of the most popular windsurfing spots in Europe. It is the perfect place for surfers, from beginners to pros. Even if you're not a windsurfer, it doesn't take long to discover that windsurfing at Lake Garda is really popular.
Lake Garda is the largest lake in Italy. It is a popular holiday location and is located in Northern Italy. Campione del Garda is an unique location, the highly favourable climate and the ever-present winds all year round make this the ideal place for a wide range of amateur sports, where air meets water, from windsurfing and kitesurfing to sailing. Photo of Kanitha and Samantha at the edge of Campione in front of Lake Garda and the impressive Mount Baldo - 1,800 meters.

This whole day was odd...a huge snowstorm had hit the weekend before, but I came in on the Monday after. It had started raining that day, and pretty much continued the whole day. from about 1pm to 5pm, it was mostly an ever present moisture in the air with occasional drops. It never really went away, and as night came the fog started. It made for a really interesting sky and atmosphere, especially since the park was completely empty when I shot this photo
