Svatopluk Čech Bridge or Čech Bridge (Most Svatopluka Čecha or Čechův most in Czech) is a arch bridge over river Vltava (Moldau) in Prague, Czech Republic.

Construction of the bridge started in 1905 and finished in 1908. Its length is 169 meters (one of the shortest in Prague) and width is 16 meters.

The bridge connects the Prague districts Holešovice and the Old Town (Staré Město). Construction materials are stone (pillars) and iron (arches). Up to 1961 the roadway was made of wood - a hard specie named Jarrah from Australia. The roadway got very slippery during rains.

The Alps (French: Alpes; German: Alpen; Italian: Alpi; Romansh: Alps; Slovene: Alpe) is the name for one of the great mountain range systems of Europe, stretching from Austria and Slovenia in the east, through Italy, Switzerland, Liechtenstein and Germany to France in the west. The word "Alps" was taken via French from Latin Alpes (meaning "the Alps"), which may be influenced by the Latin words albus (white) or altus (high) or more likely a Latin rendering of a Celtic or Ligurian original.

The highest mountain in the Alps is Mont Blanc, at 4,808 metres (15,774 ft), on the Italian-French border. All the main peaks of the Alps can be found in the list of mountains of the Alps and list of Alpine peaks by prominence.

The Alps are generally divided into the Western Alps and the Eastern Alps. The division is along the line between Lake Constance and Lake Como, following the Rhine. The Western Alps are higher, but their central chain is shorter and curved; they are located in Italy, France and Switzerland. The Eastern Alps (main ridge system elongated and broad) belong to Austria, Germany, Italy, Liechtenstein, Slovenia and Switzerland.

The Alps are a classic example of what happens when a temperate area at lower altitude gives way to higher elevation terrain. Elevations around the world which have cold climates similar to those found in polar areas have been called alpine. A rise from sea level into the upper regions of the atmosphere causes the temperature to decrease. The effect of mountain chains on prevailing winds is to carry warm air belonging to the lower region into an upper zone, where it expands in volume at the cost of a proportionate loss of heat, often accompanied by the precipitation of moisture in the form of snow or rain.

Due to the water of Lake Atanasovsko's high salt content that increases every year because of the link with the sea, salt has been produced in it since 1906, with 40,000 tons of sea salt being obtained a year.

In the south east of Iceland there is a place called Jökulsárlón, the glacier lagoon. Ice blocks break off from the glacier and float in the lagoon. As the lagoon is connecte to the ocean, the ice blocks are being carried to the sea through a small but strong stream.

So the coastline along this area provides a very special view as most of these ice blocks strand on the beach.

With the midnight sun, a full moon and a nice sky we really had a beautiful scenery that night.

Our past molds the person we are. We cannot choose our family and their influence, but we can make the most of our circumstances in a positive light.

Family is weird thing. Some families are close, some have profound disagreements and rifts. Ultimately they are part of your life, even if only in the past tense.

Family dynamics are wrought with emotional drama and all the baggage that comes with it. Often if requires diplomacy of great magnitude to maintain some peace and stability, not unlike politics.

Taken at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, in the wing that has the Temple of Dendur, which is an Egyptian monument built ~ 15 BC. There is a reflecting pool in the room, and great glass walls, and always lots of people milling about.

Took lots of pictures that day! :-)

Hope everybody is doing great!

We thought that this W.D. Hogan photograph was taken during the Irish Civil War. The title on our catalogue was: "A prayer vigil, during the Irish Civil War, possibly in London" - at least we were partly right!

It had been suggested that this was taken in London, because it was stamped on the back with "Photo by The Press Photographic Agency, Johnson's Court, Fleet St., E.C.4.". Have to admit I wasn't initially convinced about London, but am absolutely happy to say that I was entirely wrong...

Have a look through the comments below, to see how the location of Downing Street in London was established by our Fantastic Flickroonies, and hence an accurate date for this photo... So we've achieved two of our Triumvirate of Terrificness - Date established and Location identified. If we identify any of the people, I may faint away with happiness! :)

A long stretch of U.S. Route 50 traverses Utah along a desolate portion of the Great Basin Desert. It is commonly referred to as the "Loneliest Road in America."

At the time, I was talking to the old man. He was telling me that he had made this colossal recipe of beef enchiladas. I was getting the entire recipe related to me in it's entirety. It was so lonely out there, all by myself ... that I was content to just tune in.

I finally had to 'tune out the food channel' when I saw this epic sunset unfolding over the desert swamp right before my eyes. I stopped in the middle of the road, left the car door open ... sat on the hood of my car ... and watched the sun set. Not one car passed by... the only sound I heard were the frogs.

A trip to the north shore of Kauai is not complete without a visit to Hanalei Bay. Hanalei Bay is a crescent shaped bay backed by mountains behind. Although denied by the writers, the backdrop to Hanalei Bay does resemble a dragon (with some dreaming of course). On the last evening in Kauai, my girlfriend and I decided to spend sunset here together enjoying the beautiful colors and breathtaking scenery.

I headed to the eastern part of Hanalei Bay where the pier was located. After scouting around for I ultimately decided using a small tidepool as my foreground element to capture the reflection. I wanted to create a dreamy feel for this shot by smoothening out the motion of the clouds and thus I grabbed my 10-stop ND filter for the long exposure. The clouds were perfect: thinner cumulus clouds that moved quickly above the mountains. About a half hour before sunset these clouds began displaying their sunset glow and tinkered with oranges and pinks. The great part of using such a long exposure is that moving people will not appear in my exposure. Hanalei Bay is very popular for tourists hiking the beach as well as people surfing in the waters.

With the sky lighting up I fired off several long exposure shots capturing the smooth moving clouds painted with the late afternoon sunlight. Though windy, the long exposure also helped smoothen out the tidepool and define the reflection. Despite the reflection not being as crisp as I would like, I still like the final dreamy result of this shot. Just as I tried to fire off my fourth shot, a fun-loving dog decided to take a plunge into the tidepool. What can I say?

Nomi comuni della ROSA CANINA:

*Rosa di macchia

*Rosa selvatica

When I went home this afternoon I met a sweet cat on my way. She crept around my legs. Since I have always my camera with me, I wanted to try to get a close up of her and crouched down. She was so restless and moved constantly around my legs.

But suddenly as a bird flew over our heads, I got my chance. She sat down and watched him. That was my moment to capture the above scene and this is the only one I could make from her.

The Ultaran, being the decendants of Makaan, are firm believers that superiority over 'inferior races' is achieved through the construction of giant, powerfull war machines. The Ultaran Dreadnoughts are feared in every corner of the galaxy because their sniping power is immense. They deliver fantastic damage over great distances. However these ships lack the electronics to deliver that pain so far on their own. They require a couple scouts (housed within the ships docking bay) to 'target-paint' coordinates. Therefore, ironically, the immense power of these ships rely on the very fragile nature of the scouts.

------------------------------------

It's finally finished! This one is a bit bigger and more complex than what im used to, and required a couple BL orders of light grey bricks. Its inner structure is quite sturdy and the armor pannels are angled using many different techniques.

I will detail and compare the evolution of the ship through sketches and pictures at a later time. Inspired at first by Vaygr Battleships, i realize that it has more of a Sajuuk shape.
