I snapped a quick photo into the sunrise and fog when I heard these Sandhill Cranes circling for a landing. Shooting from the driver's side and out the passenger side gave me a very narrow "window of opportunity!"

I was attempting to portray beauty in a bitter storm! I haven’t been out as much the last couple or years due to the pandemic, So I shifted to focus on the simple things right outside my window.

The 39 ft schooner Ceridwen is easy to spot when she has hoisted her fisherman's staysail with the colorful round porpoise image. The name, Ceridwen comes from the Welsh goddess of inspiration and transformation. I took the shot from the Adventuress schooner during the schooner race. The steam crew readies J. Neils Lumber Co. #5, a Shay locomotive built in 1929 by Lima Locomotive Works, as the sun sets for a special night of operations on May 22, 2021 at the Illinois Railway Museum. Night operations are rare at IRM, usually only held during Labor Day Weekend and Museum Showcase Weekend. After cancelling all special events early in the season for 2021 and all of 2020 due to the Covid pandemic, the museum arranged for this special event to boost attendance during one of its traditionally slower weekends.

Fisherman's Wharf is location just around the corner from Victoria’s Inner Harbour and the Ogden Point cruise ship terminal.

Built after the Second World War to accommodate commercial fishing vessels, Fisherman's Wharf opened in March 1948. Located in Victoria’s Middle Harbour, the original 120-metre (390 foot) wharf could moor 60 fish-packing ships along six finger float piers.

The eastern end of Fisherman’s Wharf (shown here) is populated largely by colourful float homes, which serves as permanent homes to their owners, just steps from the bustling and festive commercial plaza so popular with tourists and visitors. The residents share their lively neighbourhood with harbour seals, herons, eagles, geese, cormorants, gulls, otters and raccoons.”

"Beep, beep, beep..." - to send the radio signals was the only possible job for Sputnik 1, the first artificial Earth satellite, launched 4th October 1957. Ball shaped orbital satellite itself was extremely simple, but it was the First.

Actually, Sputnik 1 rocket is from the the same R-7 rocket family, as shown 1-1 scale Vostok mockup at VDNH, Moscow. But Sputnik was 2-staged rocket, much shorter at upper part.

Cars aren't getting smaller, so the potholes must be getting bigger. The trouble is, some 4x4 drivers think their vehicles can go just anywhere.
