Well...I was in Connecticut recently for a family emergency. While I was there I thought I would get a fishing license, go fishing and think things out. Later that day I went to my buddy's house and low and behold there was a rope swing in his backyard.
"Have a go" he says. So like the dummy I can be, I did...
...I swung out, started to spin and swung back. No problem, except when I tried to stop and get off of it, my foot slipped off the "launching rock" and away I went out in an arc. At first I was going away from the tree then I was heading straight for it going backwards. I put my left arm out behind me to brace the impact, dumb move on my part.
First the wrist hit, then my shoulder, then my head, and finally I dropped 3 or 4 feet to the ground. My buddy said when my head hit he could hear it go clear up the 40ft stump.
By now, most people are saying "why didn't you just jump off?" Well, at the "launching rock" the seat on the swing is about 2ft off the ground at full swing out you are about 25ft off the ground, a real steep section of yard, so just jumping off wasn't really an option. Neither was fishing, I never did get to go.
So remember boys and girls...Feel as young as you want but act your age!

If his ruptured cranial cruciate ligament had been tended to when the injury happened, he wouldn't have this degree of arthritis now. I have fallen behind in my photography because of thumb and wrist pain, so I thought I'd post my x-ray. I am fascinated on how delicate my hand looks. Good news is it did not reveal any fractures or arthritis. I have De Quervain's tenosynovitis, so I was able to wave my brace around during the holidays when the subject of dish washing popped up.
A couple weeks ago I was mountain biking, and suddenly stopped mountain biking *really fast*. Acromioclavicular joint separation- the xray tech said level 3 (I don't think he was supposed to), but my doctor never verified it. Taking this xray hurt like hell because he made me hold a 5 pound weight in my hand and completely relax my elbow. I forgave him when he gave me a cd with all the digital negatives.
Getting a tooth I cracked fixed. It was on a tooth with an old filling, so the whole thing got replaced.
Unusual case of highly destructive sarcoidosis with end-stage pulmonary scarring (and bullous change), which does not have the pattern and morphology of "typical" interstitial fibrosis such as idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis and asbestosis. There is most likely also emphysema (note the hyperexpanded lungs).

Having not played contact rugby properly for 8 years I was foolish enough to accept an invitation to play in a scratch side at Reading Abbey 7s tournament. Our first match was against the Royal Artillery, need I say more? I survived that game, but not the tournament. 1 ambulance ride, 2 shots of morphine, sedative and a lot of N2O later my shoulder is back where it is supposed to be: Demonstrated in x-ray here.

I had a bit of a scare eight weeks after fracturing my wrist when I tripped during a run. Went to the ER to be sure and luckily I hadn't damaged anything further.
If you look carefully, the third screw from the right, the one through the worst damage, looks like it's lifting up a little. Sort of like a screw in drywall. IS there ANY healing going on in there???

-The X-Ray: My 7-yo daughter swallowed a quarter earlier this year... we joke in our family that it is the MOST expensive 25 cents we've ever had. (*She is FINE, had to have it surgically removed, and we keep the x-ray on our fridge to remind us of the event)
