The control panel / cabinet of my post-WW-2-era Army x-ray machine.
Just a quick & dirty shot for the "Control Panel" pool.

These ferrets were thought to be extinct until a small group was found in Wyoming some years ago. Their primary prey is the prairie dog. Ranchers' efforts to kill off the prairie dogs, which dig holes that can break a cow's leg, left the ferrets without their primary prey. Diseases like distemper hit the starving ferrets with fatal illness.
Thanks to the zoo and efforts of other conservation organizations, the ferret is coming back, but its future remains uncertain.
Our daughter swallowed a quarter so we spent many hours in emergency, getting an X-ray to ensure it had made the journey safely and was in no danger of getting lodged. She is safe :)

i broke my wrist (flying a kite no less) and i had to have pins put in (they are now removed) and this is what the really kewl xray looked like

Apparently it's quite a fat rat, and the dark spot in the abdomen is looking down into a vertically running part of the intestine.
Notice how thin and fragile the ribs appear to be, allowing a rat to squeeze through confined spaces.
Took my "owie" to the ER at Dartmouth-Hitchcock in Keene NH right after it happened, and after reviewing this X-Ray, the ER Doc said, "it's not broken; call us back in a few days if it still hurts."
Modern medicine is an amazing thing. I have shown this xray to people from 8 to 80, dozens of people, and the only one who can't see the break is the ER Doc.
