What is it with cats and bags, wrapping paper, boxes??? As soon as we discarded some wrapping paper from our presents Zag decided to walk around on them then curl up for a snooze on them

I also wanted to try shooting something in my diy lightbox that had a bit of a reflection on it. Wrapping paper and a bow were nearby, since we just celebrated two birthdays in my family.

Still working on scanning in the huge box of vintage paper scraps I picked up at an estate sale this spring. I like this print. A little plain, but I like the graphic on it regardless.

14th December 2011.

Today was just horrible. I'm not used to fighting with people, it's not something that I do very often. But tonight I had a fight like I don't think I ever have before. I was shaking and crying and yelling and the dual sensation of rage and heartbreak was pretty overwhelming.

And all the while this gift, which I spent a long time thinking about and putting together for Hannah, and which finally arrived in the post today, sat next to me, mocking me for having been so optimistic and hopeful and for planning into the future. It was like a cruel joke.

I didn't actually bin it in the end. Later on there was some reconciliation, although nothing has actually changed, so I will probably still send this to her, with the hope that by the time it arrives it'll seem appropriate again, and, if not, it'll be a poignant final reminder of what could have been.

My grandma and Aunt Diane sent JT a package that arrived on his birthday. He was so thrilled, he actually got IN the box!

We actually have no Christmas gift opening pics. Catcher actually doesn't care much for gift opening just yet. Or maybe he truly does abhor the waste of paper products. Gift warping station almost ready for the season!

Today was the christening of our friends' baby girl, Ava Rose. Our gift to her was a lovely anthology of children's stories and poems, wrapped in this gorgeous double-sided Cath Kidston paper.

Best wishes for a long and happy life, Ava!

for Paperjam Press PDX - holidays 2013

It was quite the process to wrap these presents. It was also quite the process for Wade to unwrap these presents. I think it was worth the effort though... I mean look at that face. It's pure happiness.
