Merry Christmas!

Fröhliche Weihnachten!

Joyeux Noël !

¡Feliz Navidad!

I wish you all a Merry Christmas! Regardless of your religion and confession of faith, I hope you have a nice evening and a few relaxing days with the people you love. Try to leave the trouble of everyday life out in the cold and enjoy the last days of 2015.

And if you're Christian and live in one of the countries where it's accepted custom to celebrate Christmas on Christmas Eve - have fun unwrapping your presents today ... the others have to wait till tomorrow ;-)

and I heard her exclaim as she walked into the light, "Merry Christmas to all! And to all a good night!"

Saw this when we were out for a walk the other day

Anyone see a Wes Anderson production here?

Like magic!

I spread out a roll of wrapping paper and a cat appears.

This time it was Vinny!

This was my nesting envelope that ended up with Stewart. Somehow he was actually able to read some of the letter on the back....

Thank you so much, first for 25.000 views of my photo stream and then for liking this picture so much :-)

Thank you to all my Flickr friends and all other visitors, your views, comments, faves and invites have made this another entry in Explore, highest position #46 for May 22 2011 on 23/05/11 :-)

Such a pretty thing to tear.

On a silly note, I accidentally stained my hair pink from the red paint!

Beside him is a gift for him - the Cat Amazing Sliders.

I'm sorry for the bad photo quality. We don't have much day light these days.

For the Happy Caturday group theme "Preparing".

If it is on the wall is it art?

In the technical side of things this image was rather difficult to put together, I'll stay away from reflective patterns from now on.

Most wrapping paper designs are very safe and boring, and took it upon myself to design some of the unusual sort. This is one in a series of 4. The others being sexual positions, tattoos and a beefchart.

My Latest Submission for Digital Photography School

Assignment: Self Portrait

The humble Quail egg is actually a superfood.

Another holiday, another excuse to chase my cats around with a camera in a chaotic mess of an attempt to capture some cute photos of the furry devils. This time it was Biscuits and Frank who were the most cooperative, though that’s only relative to Gravy (who dug his claws into my foot and brought the photo session to an early and unpleasant end). Still, I’m pretty happy with the results!

Photographically, It's hard to do justice to a handmade card which has been embellished with rich, foil design appliques.

(thus a bit of shadow on the koala's face) . . .

The entire letter package is a unique and treasured gift in itself . . . all the way from Australia from my dear flickr friend, Jesse, who understands and relishes the rare ART of giving.

The levels of thoughtfulness that accompanied this creation are amazing! The background wrapping paper I sent two years ago became the foundation for the Australian Eucalyptus tree, famous for its distinctive flavor with hocks and gum leaves.

I had to google the reference because I'd never heard of it before, so was thrilled to further understand the attentiveness and treatment that went into this gift! I was also fascinated with a U-Tube on the growing of the specimen in a country which is known for its fires. So much symbolism here.

Deepest thanks of appreciation to Jesse and Maria

for such an exceptional, emotional presentation!

I am all about re-purposing, so was filled with JOY upon receiving this superlative card! Big hugs across the world, from sea to shining sea to thee from me! xox

Getting ready to finish up some last minute presents. Merry Christmas everyone!

After Christmas last year.

I like to make some of these origami ornaments each year, but, if I don't get some made before Christmas, often I get around to it between Christmas and the new year or even into the first week or two of January.

This year... well, I still haven't even made one...so, instead I'll just show you these from last year....

The crafting 'stuff' for origami, little walnut mice and even a new project.... gnomes... is strewn about. Waiting....... just waiting....for somebody to find time and inclination to play .....

You can tell Brady is very helpful when it comes to unwrapping presents.

For the 1000 cranes for Japan/ group.

My first attempt at one didn't quite work but this was my second and I'm quite pleased with it :)

I hope that Japan soon finds peace.

On a completely different note I sliced my thumb this morning (how I don't know - I suspect it was on a kitchen knife that I washed!) but it's about an inch long cut and it's so sore and is nipping like billy-o! And why is it that it's always on a hand or place that's constantly used, ie in typing or writing etc! lol!

Buiten koud ? Binnen lekker warm !

Similar looking to Hollow Sonobe by Paolo Bascetta but a bit different in terms of angles and with much safer locking system.

Possibly the best wrapping paper we've ever had.

Finally got all the presents wrapped for the BIG day. At least that's one less thing to worry about.

All staged, given parties are a thing of the past and the future. I wanted light that was a bit dim and bleary, so I put everything in my tabletop light tent but kept the tent lights off (some light is coming through the back of the tent from a nearby window).

Crazy Tuesday: On Fire

A cupcake was harmed in the making of this photo. :)

and help me get this box to open!

This year the Flickr Friends Melbourne Group have decided to have a monthly challenge which is submitted on the 5th of every month. This month’s theme is “geometry”.

I had lots of ideas for this theme, and I took plenty of photos of things that were geometric. I had a whole array of details from the Art Deco style villas from the 1920s and 1930s in my neighbourhood that still have their original facades, fences and gates. I also photographed pieces of a beautiful Victorian Anglo-Indian occasional table that belonged to my Great Grandparents who acquired it whilst working in the diplomatic corps during the Raj. My intention had been to make collages of these photos, however once they were done, I really wasn’t satisfied with the result.

Then the solution hit me! Earlier this year I paid a call to Zetta Florence, which is a wonderful shop that specialises in beautifully made papers. Amongst the papers I had bought was a roll of hand stencilled paper featuring a geometric Art Deco fan pattern used quite commonly in the 1920s and 1930s. Unfurling it down my table it gave the crisp look I wanted for my submission for the theme! So you see, that sometimes the simplest ideas can offer a perfect geometric solution!

Art Deco is a European style that celebrated the exciting and dynamic aspects of the machine age. It was all about sleekness, sharp lines, and vivid decorative elements like fins, fans, speed lines, portal windows and low relief sculpture. There was also a drive towards the clean lines of geometry in design.

Geometry is the part of mathematics that studies the size, shapes, positions and dimensions of things. Squares, circles and triangles are some of the simplest shapes in flat geometry. Cubes, cylinders, cones and spheres are simple shapes in solid geometry.

Vintage xmas wrapping paper - 50s probably.

I think they're supposed to be deer, but they look quite a lot like lambs too
