This is her favorite sentence right now. It is her asking me to sing "Santa Claus is Coming to Town" with her. We do this about 100x a day now :)
Another holiday, another excuse to chase my cats around with a camera in a chaotic mess of an attempt to capture some cute photos of the furry devils. This time it was Biscuits and Frank who were the most cooperative, though that’s only relative to Gravy (who dug his claws into my foot and brought the photo session to an early and unpleasant end). Still, I’m pretty happy with the results!
Merry Christmas to all our lovely Flickr friends, from me & Barney & his little "brother" Flynn too!
Gosh, what a strange & difficult year 2020 has been. Hopefully 2021 will see things begin to get back to something like normality. Like many people around the world this year, our Christmas has been quiet & spent at home... The collies & I have been enjoying ourselves though - nice food (a vegetarian roast dinner for me... stinky dried buffalo tails for the dogs!), pressies all round & we went for a lovely potter in the orchards this afternoon - no snow sadly but blue skies & frosty fields. Barney was just happy because he got to take part in his favourite Christmas Day tradition of shredding the wrapping paper up. Haha, he seemed to think I might want to join in the fun today & kept trying to pass me pieces! I'm not so good at ripping stuff up as he is though ;-)
"We can walk out after dark
Because it's Christmas time
Colored lights glow from the park
Because it's Christmas time
And the bells on the reindeer sled say
It's Christmas time
And the quilts on the back of the bed say
It's Christmas time"

I absolutely love this time of year... and the fact I get to see my brother, sister, niece, and brother-in-law soon! :)
I first tried this sort of dripping tap photo in February, and thought it was about time I had another go to see whether my increased skill base could produce anything more interesting. Actually my photography skills don't seem to have improved it much but I was able to do more with processing than I was capable of back then. And I like the backdrop better (my favourite wrapping paper that I'm down to the last square of)
How often do we make a lifelong friend on flickr
who chooses to scoot over to instagram,
but remains in touch,
by snail mail, none-the-less!
"Challenging the postal system is our game . . .
where a name is just the same . . .
as an excuse, so lame . . .
yet with no need to tame . . .
or no one to blame . . .
and no call to fame . . .
Oh, "Danny Boy" . . . you're the best!
you just made my day
in your amazingly creative way . . .
stay tuned for the rest . . . "
Very simple origami decorations as far as origami goes. The beading makes them special and so do the lovely papers.
They are just 3 little 3inch squares of paper ... some gold thread... some pretty beads .. et voilá ..
.... origami ornaments for the tree.
Many years ago I bought a little ornament like this .. because I thought I should be able to make one. I couldn't figure it out for the life of me... so I took it apart. It took me 3 weeks to get it back together again. But, in the meantime, I measured, cut and folded some bits of paper in the same manner as I found when I took it apart..and, then...tried again and again to get things back together..not easy for several of them..but, I finally did it. Perseverance is my middle name.
Then, I got more creative and used beads on them..the original just had one little bead and a tiny empty bell like thingy.. they got more and more fancy and pretty... well, I think they did.
I used to use any pretty coloured paper I found... ads in magazines, tissue paper that I had to glue onto stiffer paper (til I got smart and learned to photocopy it onto regular paper ..duh)... and wrappings from chocolate boxes ..etc. Now, I just buy one large roll of great gold paper, a lovely silver, and I photo copy fabrics and papers to get pretty paper ..oh, and I also buy some called origami paper on occasion ... they cut theirs just a hair under the 3 inch size and so it is painstaking work to try to cut mine to "just the same hair under 3 inches" to match it or they don't work properly.
I love to make some each year ...and, I have a huge stash of lovely beads to use ...so haven't bought any of those for ages...
Gift Wrapping paper...not just for wrapping gifts.
One year I used five or six different rolls that either featured teddy bears or had them prominently displayed
The silhouette of a black cat sits on a windowsill and watches snowflakes fall from the sky. Fairy lights are hanging from the ceiling and a stack of gift wrapped parcels on the floor indicate it is Christmastime.
SWAK aka *Sealed With A Kiss*
At Michigan State University there is a special tree, whose seeds
were brought back from China by my step-dad's father,
many years ago. This unique man was a botanist who taught soldiers how to survive in the Philippines during WWII.
He was also head of the Arboretum in Boston!
Fascinating history:
"From fossil records, dawn redwood is known to have existed as many as 50,000,000 years ago. However, it was not until 1941 that it was first discovered growing in the wild near the town of Modaoqi, China by Chinese forester, T. Kan."
Just love the wrapping process!
Happy Monday Everyone!

Reflecting spoons are altogether too much fun! You're going to see many of them, my friends! I've been looking for something big enough to fold or curl up behind the spoons. Here is a spoon sitting on some Christmas wrapping paper!

Now there's a guilty face if ever I saw one. Louis thought he could sneak in a quick check for anything smelling of treats or catnip but when you're rustling away, jiggling the branches and making the ornaments jingle, you're gonna get busted.
Happy Holidays my dear Flickr friends, however you celebrate the season - or not. Wishing you all the very best and thank you for your kind support, friendship, and amazing inspiration.

ODC-Dots & Dashes Or Code
Amazon Anne showed Mr. & Mrs. Dummie the inside of her Video Game. They were both fascinated by what they saw!!!
Actually this is wrapping paper I used for my Granddaughter Chloe's birthday gift.
Why not take the bag that the new calendar came in? Especially when it's raining and very windy outside.
Better viewed large and thank you for your favourites.
So I've had this idea for a while.. but no inspiration of putting it together until yesterday... I was out buying a b'day present and wrapping paper. When I got home, the penny dropped that Jinx(Kat) had used wrapping paper as her backdrop. It was all I needed to put it together!! Thanks Kat for the inspriation!! :D
AND A big happy birthday to my lovely friend Nicole!!!
