What it says - Luke Skywalker model placed in front of some shiny wrapping paper, with a couple of LEDs angled in his direction. Photoshopped lightly with Topaz Adjust 5.
Buddy tearing into his Christmas gift from Gram. I tried to salvage this as much as possible. He moved so derned quickly!

Created the ultimate COVD-friendly bachelorette party for my BF! She wanted to go to Dave & Buster's so we brought Dave & Buster's to her! This is one of the signs for the different game stations we set up.
This sign features textured felt, rainbow wrapping paper, and construction paper. The text is hand lettered. After the arrows were glued down I add several inner and outer gel pen layers.

This is the tiny Christmas tree we went with this year. It's a little sickly looking tree, purchased from Target for $9.99, that needed a good home. In the background, on the wall, are two photos, one I took and processed in my little black and white lab, the other is from ImageKind, a gallery wrap canvas print of Amy and Oliver.
This photograph was generated from three photos of different exposure values merged in Photoshop.

Since Santa’s mental stability was apparently questionable at best I decided to do my bit to rescue Christmas.
I got some wrapping paper, a scissor and some tape and set up my own workshop to prepare backup gifts so that no one would have to go without presents on Christmas.
But of course I still believe that Mr Fox and Mrs PB will succeed in “talking” some sense into Santa and I won’t need my backup gifts in which case I will keep them to myself he he, baaah just kidding.

started wrapping some presents last night. no tree to put them under, but the bright paper makes me happy!
also, today is my dad's birthday. happy, happy birthday dad!!
It's a Recycled Christmas, Charlie Brown!
Today I felt like a total overachiever! Not only are all of our Christmas presents purchased, they are now wrapped!! This year, in the spirit of being more GREEN, we wrapped in all recycled products. All of the wrapping paper is recycled maps from my husband's work (submarine cable maps from 2007) or Roll Call's maps of the presidential election, county by county. Larger boxes are recycled boxes that used to hold trash bags. Filling in the boxes is shredded phonebook. The jewelry boxes are origami folded from the covers of magazines, last year's yellow book or delivery pizza menus. The bows are made from colorful magazine ads, created by hand.
Ta da!!!

PS: Please don't take this to mean that I'm a hippie. Really.... I'm just cheap!
Coincidentally - Also for FGR - "Fun with paper"
...that is how much I spent for all of this today.
I ran to Goodwill to donate some stuff on lunch (all sorts of stuff we have had all year, this was the 2nd run, but of course we forget to do it by end of 2008, oh well!) and it took shorter time than I thought so on the way back to work I noticed Hobby Lobby. It is not somewhere I usually shop but Dave mentioned there was one sorta between home and work so I decided to stop in, thinking this late after Christmas I may get a bow or two, or even cheap tissue.
I coulda done more but I was afraid how much I was spending :P
So here is the breakdown of what I got for $35.46
-2 Hat Boxes ($1.72 each)
-4 packs 120-sheet tissue ($0.80 each)
-7 packs of 3/ea tape ($0.80 each pack)
-6 pack of 3/ea curled bows ($0.45 each set)
-5 rolls 60SF/ea wrapping paper ($1.40 each)
-3 packs 10/ea gift boxes, various sizes ($1.20 each)
-10 packs 3/ea hard cardstock with foam-backed tape gift tags ($0.40 each)
-3 rolls wire ribbon (2 @90yd, 1 @30yd) ($2.00 each)
(I think my math may have been a little off there somewhere as I am not sure that added up to $35, but you get the idea, friggin' CHEAP!!! That reciept is SO HARD to read the way they have it laid out)
A lot of you know I am completely OCD about wrapping gifts. I LOVE to do it. Year-round. I would not be caught dead with gift bags - only this past year I started using reuseable boxes, and it was mainly when we were on our way to a family birthday and buying the gifts on the way...it bugged the hell out of me but I justified it in my head that they are reusable so therefore more eco-friendly. I have always loved Hat Boxes so I do buy some of those...I hate buying pre-made bows but I always like to keep some on hand, especially for shipping or a small box (I make a few damn good unique bows but those DO look good on small small boxes, admittedly). I also have to match. We have 2-3 rolls left over from this past Christmas but I will not be reusing it. The kiddos can use it for art projects or something.
And...those 2 hat boxes? I bought them with The Girl in mind, but I love them so much I think I am going to go back tomorrow and get more! Most of the ones left over were ugly...there were a few of these - I have to wonder if they were left with the ugly ones because there were even BETTER ones but whatever, I kinda love these. I think if I go back tomorrow I will get a few more of the Hat Boxes and maybe more tissue and boxes because who doesn't need those. And wire ribbon, oh yes. I think I have enough paper, tho.

I couldn't find any cheap Christmas wrapping paper in the Boxing Day sales but I found this stuff. It should keep me going for a few years.
