This is kind of what my typical workspace looks like, sometimes. Other times it's a similar setup but on a table! Tea, inspiration, thoughts, love. Oh, and excuse the sock.
The books are (from right to left):
Cy Twombly - Photographs
It's beautiful here, isn't it... - Luigi Ghirri
Pilates - Alycea Ungaro
Still Life - Taschen

This is my everyday workspace. The ASUS monitors are hooked up to a Quad core AMD machine that dual boots Ubuntu 10.10 and Windows 7 (boo!). The monitor on the far right is one of the old monitors from before I got the new ASUS ones. I have this one on a stack of books (a former monitor stand) until I can think of something more permanent for my laptop.
I can use the mouse and keyboard for the entire width of monitors because I'm using synergy (it even works on Windows!) At some point, I may even put the netbook on the synergy grid.
Yesterday, in my new office, I was grumbling about not getting a permanent office cubicle. I got like a makeshift cubicle.
They said they ran out of free cubicles.
Fair enough.
Suddenly I remembered about this picture I had taken in Kolkata this summer, and all my grumblings went down the drain.
I suddenly realised how fortunate I was for where I am and how immaterial all my worries are when I look at things like this.

This is where I am working, at home, these weeks, sorting through Nietzsche notes in my Cahiers and getting more specific quotations down in other ones. I have some of the cooler quotations on the covers, such as, ""Has it been noticed that in heaven all interesting men are missing?" (from The Will to Power). If not for my daily jaunt to The Evergreen for breakfast, I think I might go crazy.
I moved my Cinema Display to work, so I'm just using my MacBook Pro for the time being. Looking at Samsung 23 and 24 inch monitors. Anyone have any suggestions?
Trabajo desde mi casa o mejor dicho, desde mi pieza... yo sé que no es muy recomendable tener la oficina en el lugar que duermes pero en mi calidad de estudiante me permite hacer el quiebre entre las dos cosas.
samsung lcd is wall mounted. both monitor & speakers are wired in-wall. a mac mini & g drive are in the top drawer, wired to a numeric keyboard and magic mouse; also an apple extreme for wireless printing & a roku player.
humanscale freedom chair designed by niels diffrient - both intuitive & comfortable.
the flat panel speakers are planar magnetic transducers w 2.5" mid-range cones; the vented-cube houses a monopole subwoofer w an active crossover. this little system delivers clear, realistic sound.
Chatting back & forth with Moriko I realized I should probably step back from the desk to show a bit more of the work space ....including my Art Director, Suki
....who is probably one of the main motivators for keeping the area neat and tidy. The other may or may not be Zen. *cough*
This is the workspace I have at our house. I have another one at Konstfack in the Storytelling studio.
Blog post here.
Now I finally have my workspace set up the way I intended when I bought this fabulous desk two years ago for -- can you believe it? -- $99. [All except for the corner piece, which um, goes in the corner over there. Can't find the allen wrench that came with the desk, so I'll have to buy one in order to add the corner piece, in the corner.] Now I can sew, websurf AND watch tv, not to mention knit, at the same time. Well, at least in the same place.
When I'm not working on the couch, I'm usually doing projects here. Excuse the clutter. I'm badly in need of some organization!
This is where i sit to make all my jewels. (B &W photo is of my grandmother, The owl print belonged to a special older relative and the small photo is my mom when she was a child).
