A clear cold morning on the Wisconsin River. Blue sky has more muted reflections on the river as winter's grip takes hold on the landscape. Forming ice sheets collide and pile up along the edges while ice still carried along in the current makes a tinkling sound. Best viewed on black.

A couple of fishermen try their luck at sunset on Lake Wausau near Memorial Park in Wausau, Wisconsin.
While paddling on Lake Alice, I was startled when an Osprey (Pandion haliaetus) came from behind me and took a fish very close by. It flew off across the lake to a tree and consumed part of the fish in short order. When it decided that I was getting too close, it took off with the remaining fish but flew low enough for me to catch a shot of it with the left-overs securely clutched in its strong talons. (Cropped for composition.)
