More snow coming ... again!
Mehr Schnee bahnt sich an - schon wieder!
Más nieve está en el horizonte - una vez más!
Winter is in the mountains today and we have a big procession right up the main street of K Town.
It's a chance to mingle with people and for one day they don't mind stopping for a photo. It also gets me mingling with other photogs which I love.
Forest holds a lot of secrets and to find some of them one has to venture deep inside and look for its beauty which is hidden by being right in front of us...
A super low system hit the southern and central tablelands of NSW in July, with record snowfalls in many areas, including the Blue Mountains. This is the view across our farm.

The earliest known depiction of a carousel is in a Byzantine bas-relief dating to around 500 A.D. The word carousel originates from the Italian garosello and Spanish carosella used by crusaders to describe a combat preparation exercise and game played by Turkish and Arabian horsemen in the 11th century. This early device could be considered a cavalry training mechanism; it prepared and strengthened the riders for actual combat as they wielded their swords at the mock enemies. European Crusaders discovered this device and brought the idea back to their own lands. Nowadays we see them at fun fairs - so on the big Xmas markets in Berlin/Germany
Ein Spaziergang durch den winterlichen Wald beim Haslimoos ist eine wunderbare Auszeit. Der gefrorene Nebel auf den Tannennadeln verwandelt die Natur in eine fragile «Märchenwelt».
A walk through the winter forest near Haslimoos is a wonderful break. The frozen mist on the pine needles transforms nature into a fragile "fairytale world".

Had a great time participating in the 22nd Winter Fest down the road in Katoomba today. Although taking snaps here and there I felt more part of the community this year having lived up here for approaching two years. Loved the warm (yes it was a little chilly) happy faces and joyous dancing, all fitting in nicely with the theme of 'peace' this year.

"The Winter Magic Festival is a free, annual community event, celebrated around the Winter solstice in Katoomba in the Blue Mountains of New South Wales, Australia. The Winter Solstice in 2015 falls on June 22nd, 2:38am AEST.
Winter Magic is the Blue Mountain's highest profile and most anticipated annual event. The Blue Mountains is NSW inaugural City of the Arts and Katoomba is the heart of that city. It is the weekend when artists, musicians, dancers, drummers, choirs, stalls and community take over one of Australia's most famous towns."
Taken at the Blue Mountains Winter Magic Festival - mostly during the 30 minute parade and a few on the Katoomba St 'fete' during the 21st Winter Magic Festival, an annual community driven mash-up of arts & traditional pagan-style celebrations.
On a quiet winter’s night, the gentle glow of festive decorations shimmers across the still harbor waters. The historic façades and sailing ships, rendered in black and white, evoke a bygone era, while delicate points of light brighten the darkened sky. The contrast between tradition and a wintry mood creates a timeless atmosphere where history, contemplation, and holiday magic blend harmoniously.
Not sure what that pillow was doing in front of this fancy restaurant. A few of the people inside thought I was snapping them. I guess.

Winter night photography on the Great Lakes has its own magic. A late-night drive can be therapeutic—like glacier ice breaking away, searching for warmer waters.
For me, it’s my camera and tripod, capturing the unusual beauty we often overlook in our daily lives.
This spot has housed several restaurants over the years, but now seems to be a private space under the current Erie Basin Marina owners. I believe SmithBoys has run it since the mid-2010s, but its past and future remain a mystery.
My wife and I come here for ice cream and sunsets, but year-round, Erie Basin Marina is a go-to for breathtaking city views.
The Great Lakes are special like that—wouldn’t trade them for a coastal city anytime soon. 🌊❄️✨

After the last of the shoveling today, I took a walk down the street. Met all kinds of people, everyone was so happy to have a much deserved break from the tough winter we are having over here on the east coast.
