Lots of snow is normal in this part of the world but it’s the first time I remember that even big apartment blocks have been snowed in.

It snows more and comes faster than they manage to remove and it’s been causing chaos this winter.

Huge amounts of snow and extreme cold are causing chaos here.

In some parts of the country all buses and trains are cancelled at times as well as schools, hospital appointments, even some surgeries.

The snow comes so fast that some places no longer manage to remove it.

It is hard to believe that it is week 50 in 52 weeks for dogs; another year is nearly over.

We awoke again to a white world this morning - our weather becomes more and more extraordinary! As some of you may know *smile*, I love the snow so I got my togs on and Taivas and I went out for a long walk. We started out with grey skies above but they quickly cleared and just as we entered the forest the sun came through the trees making the snow sparkle and the shadows dance.

I had a tiny bit of blue sky in this which I cropped out as I thought it drew the eye away from the magical whiteness, I also enhanced the white snow in processing, to make it look more like how I saw it. It's hard for me to have Taivas as only a tiny part of the picture but it's about time I got out of my comfort zone!

Nestled amidst the pristine winter embrace of Belleville Valley, this image captures a cluster of rustic alpine chalets surrounded by a delicate forest blanketed in snow. The muted tones of the wooden structures contrast beautifully with the frosty trees, evoking a sense of warmth in the heart of winter. The perspective plays with the interplay of light and shadows as the sun filters through the mist, adding depth and a soft glow to the scene. This composition not only celebrates the natural beauty of the Alps but also reflects a photographer's quest to find tranquility and harmony in nature's winter palette.

Great Berlin Wheel - a proposed 175 metre Ferris wheel[1] near the Zoologischer Garten Berlin (Berlin zoological garden). Construction was due to begin in 2007. When completed it could be the world's largest Ferris wheel (if the 208 m Beijing Great Wheel is not finished first). from Wikipedia

Anyone who wants to experience the incomparable charm of “WinterMagic” has to come to Berlin!

An atmospheric backdrop guarantees a wonderful experience at the Gendarmenmarkt Christmas Market in one of the most beautiful squares in the city. Insights into old handicrafts such as flax embroidery are offered at the Gendarmenmarkt. Wood carvers and stonemasons present their work. Jugglers, acrobats, fire artists, dance groups, choirs, Berlin classical, jazz and Gospel ensembles, as well as internationally famous artists, also ensure a varied show programme. Alongside the exhibitors’ wares, culinary temptations from top cooks also promise “Christmas spirit”.
