This Thomas Cook/Condor 767 is the only one I have ever seen with winglets. Dave in the tower got some photos of this bird on a previous occasion but it still looks a bit odd to me. Anyway, here she is on the roll on 26L at CYVR.

Winglet of Thai Airways B744 while cruising over the South China Sea at sunset. Clear sky up above, but still some rain cloud was visible down below on our way to Hong Kong. This was TG606 originated in Suvarnabhumi Bangkok.

Another one in my winglet series!

Sure makes for a great shape looking up from the outside. You might enjoy the whole Blended Winglet set of 8 pics.

From the plaque below the blended winglet exhibit:

The Future Is On The Wing

This Blended Winglet was test flown on a Boeing 747-200 in 2000 to prove the viability of Blended Winglets for big transport aircraft.

Blended Winglets are gracefully curved wingtip extensions that measurably enhances the aerodynamic efficiencies, flight characteristics and environmental benefits of corporate and commercial aircraft.

Aviation Partners of Seattle introduced the patented Blended Winglets in 1991. They are now flying on airliners and corporate jets worldwide saving fuel and protecting the environment.

The Museum of Flight is grateful to Aviation Partners, Inc. and Aviation Partners Boeing for their enormous contribution to the world of flight and aerospace.

even prettier with that new pair of winglets

Purple winglet of Thai Airways A333 registered as HS-TEP being touched by very late afternoon sun. We were on our way to Hanoi, Vietnam, and this shot was taken approx. 1 hour after our departure from Bangkok.

From my Houston - IAH to Portland - PDX flight, two pictures together of the winglets on the plane.

Engine no. 1, winglet, clear blue sky with the nice cloudscape can be seen out the window of Gulf Air A340-300 as GF151, approx. 10 mins after take off, while enroute to Bangkok. I was on my way home after a work trip in Hong Kong. The quality of this photo is not so good, but the view out there is great.

A nice comparison between the colors and winglets of two aircraft. Both of these elements make aircraft types and airlines immediately recognizable to the aviation enthusiast and amateur alike. Wnglets not only help reduce the fuel burn in flight, they also just look good!

The first AAL 763 with winglets (actually the only one in the world!) arriving Chicago O'Hare on 3/17/09, about one week after entering revenue service. I think the winglets make the 767 look even better...
