It's Window Wednesday - so a picture framed by a window!

A Pintxos bar in San Sebastian (Donostia in Basque), northern Spain.

Still got a sticker on and under a balcony which is what's causing the light reflections.

The Bicycle shop in downtown Broken Arrow is getting all new windows while the downtown was on a somewhat shut down.

Well, here is the new luxurious high rise condo for Monnie,

our Monarch caterpillar who is growing daily in quite a process!

We may be in for one more upgrade, but for now,

hopefully this will be perfect for photographing the transformation!

Happy Window Wednesday, as we peek into the wonderful world of one of nature's miracles!

Oh, by the way, this was a serendipitous purchase at Michael's Crafts where, ironically I was looking for a *netted* structure. At 70% off, I couldn't resist paying only $12, as we can always use it for it's real purpose . . . a lantern, of course! Right now there is a piece of cardboard inside the top, with the bamboo post resting and waiting for a possible chrysalis! It's all an experiment for me!

Redruth has some of the best Victorian architecture of any mining town.

I think this building may have been a pub or hotel when it was first built. It is at the bottom of Fore Street. The dome to the left is copper.

The name Redruth is said to be derived from the fact that by the 14th century the stream running along the bottom of Fore Street was so discoloured with iron oxide from tinning activities that it ran red. Hence Redruth, the Cornish for ford is Rhys and red is Ruth.

Historically, Redruth was a small market town overshadowed by its neighbours until a boom in the demand for copper ore during the 18th century. Copper ore had mostly been discarded by the Cornish tin-mining industry but was now needed to make brass, an essential metal in the Industrial Revolution. Surrounded by copper ore deposits, Redruth quickly became one of the largest and richest mining areas in Britain and the town's population grew markedly, although most miners' families remained poor.

A view from below of the French River Visitor Centre . I really like this architecture and how it is framed by the trees and built into the rock. Happy Window Wednesday

Happy Window Wednesday/Hump Day!

My teasing description for this previously posted photo back in 2014 is below, little did I realize this cool Canon 60D camera would be soon be mine...I'm still using it 8 years later:

Snuck this shot in while Sue was in playing the lottery in Lambeth! :) That camera fits these big hands just fine, what a cool machine, this camera rocks! LOL!!!

On our recent Eastern Washington road trip, we visited the Grand Coulee Dam. This photograph was taken standing on the dam, with the reflection of the Columbia Gorge, Roosevelt Lake and part of the dam in the windows. The strangest thing about being allowed on the dam itself was the security. It was higher than in any airport I have ever been in, and we were followed around by security men with guns the entire time.

The Grand Coulee Dam is the largest concrete structure in the world and is bigger than the Hoover Dam. Strangely enough, I had never heard of it before.

(286/366) Welly was complaining that I hadn't taken his photo for ages so I took him to see "Bleak House" when I walked the dogs today. This is a photo of the derelict house taken from further back www.flickr.com/photos/juliek1967/29069390400/in/datetaken/ HWW & HWWHDT!

What's not to love about this spontaneous old, gritty window sill which I quickly stopped to shoot on my walk the other day!

Old stone homestead, Wayne County, Utah.

Sure wish I knew who lived here in our neighboring beach resort! Dedicated to all my special British friends! Don't ya just love the angled window on the right which I'm sure was purposely placed so it would have a view of the Quononchontaug Pond

which spills into the nearby ocean!

Glory be . . . to have such a gorgeous view of the sea!

My neighbour's house has a lovely high window through which the fiery sky can be seen. I added in a bit of the tree branchlets to make a montage. Happy Window Wednesday.

...I swear just looking at them makes me sneeze ;)

Where I live these grow wild, so I am surrounded by them...so pretty & so fragrant :)))

I loved the way the sun was hitting the barn windows.

This will be my last post for a bit as we are going out of town to see family. (Unless, of course, I manage to find the time to post something while I'm gone)

Williamstown has one of these huge tower blocks that look as though it was built in the 60's-70's next to the run down vintage Anglican church vicarage and a view to the busy Marina. These seem to be housing commission flats - en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Housing_Commission_of_Victoria. Happy Window Wednesday.

Just a window. Spring Hill, Brisbane or thereabouts.

After our preseason snow storm, there was freezing rain, which coated trees with a layer of ice. It was very pretty, and fortunately, we lost very few branches. A small space between some maple branches gave me a glimpse of our neighbor's window across the way.

Shambles is one of York's most famous landmarks and one of the best preserved medieval streets in Europe. With its cobbled streets and overhanging buildings, it is believed to have been the inspiration behind Diagon Alley from the movie adaptation of the Harry Potter series. Harry Potter fans from over the world flock here throughout the year. In fact, 'The Shop That Must Not Be Named, is right here at street level but it was so busy so I decided to shoot up.
