Whenever I try to remember my dreams, I always turn 'em into stories. But dreams are like life. You can't catch it with your hands because you can't catch something you don't really see. If you believe in your dreams, you could be sure that any force, a tornado, a volcano or a typhoon, wouldn't be able to knock you out of love; because love exists on its own.

Whenever the Brown Pelicans at this location scooped up shoals of small fish, nearby Laughing Gulls would literally land on their backs (sometimes heads) looking to pick up the odd few escapees. This pelican had already swallowed its catch and seemed to be taking great delight in proving it!

As always, thank you so much for stopping by and for leaving any comments or faves, they are very much appreciated.

whenever we stop in small towns I ask my husband to drive around the back streets where people live away from the "downtown" portion which can be very small in some places, just a gas station, a grocery story, maybe a post office. Most of the shots that I take are from the car, I just roll down the window and say stop when I spy a good candidate. I lucked out in Lundbreck Alberta as the late afternoon light and dramatic sky made very modest homes look quite lovely.

Whenever Nuru gets confused or she doesn't understand what the keeper is asking of her she will pull this face which translates for us humans that she needs space and let's try again later.

There is truth in the saying you can't make a lion do anything it doesn't want to, or nor should you.

Whenever I look back

On the best days of my life

I think I saw them all on T.V.

I am so homesick now for

Someone that I never knew

I am so homesick now for

Someplace I will never be

Whenever I'm out in nature and taking photographs I am inspired by the photographs of Eliot Porter (1901-1990). His work is so beautiful, unvarnished and pure. He always let nature speak for itself. To play around with processing to make an image more "spectacular" seems like sacrilege. Let these beautiful gulls "speak" to your soul. It's truly healing.

Whenever we stay at our holiday home just outside Looe in Cornwall we invariably make our way over to Seaton to enjoy a walk on the beach with our little Yorkie. There's a nice cafe at the side of the beach where you can sit outside, watching the world go by, and enjoy a mug of hot chocolate - ideal in the colder weather.

There seems to be a natural fascination with the breaking waves at the seaside, and when we visited in late October I was delighted to get some pictures of this mum and her young daughter at the edge of the surf. In the distance is Looe Island and the town of Looe. We'll be back there next week.

Whenever I spot a butterfly, she seems to be in a hurry to get someplace else. So, it was with a sense of awe that I was able to photograph a few butterflies on July 22, 2019 while Marsha and I paused to admire a fabulous front yard garden in Ypsilanti.

A Swallowtail butterfly, by my best guess.

Whenever I see a raptor, more often than not, it's a red-tailed hawk! Today while driving down the road, I saw that bright white front and mustaches (sideburns?) and knew I had a happy bird day! I also see American kestrels fairly often but this prairie falcon was an uncommon delight for me.

Whenever I was hiking and I'd run out of things to photograph, I'd ask people if I could take pictures of their horses or dogs. I prefered the horses, but there were fewer of them, at least before 2014 when leashes were required for dogs (which they always should have been).

Besides, I was always better than photographing dogs. I had four terriers over a 44 years period, and I have exactly one shot each that was any good. As for taking pictures of dogs on the trails, deep down in most dogs' DNA is the extreme urge to chase birds.

Anyway, just after New Year's in 2011, I met a couple on Valley View Trail walking an adorable poodle mix (never say "mix" to a poodle owner in case it isn't: somehow poodle owners and the word "huffy" often go hand in paw).

Dog's name was Baron, and Baron was fascinated by the lens or perhaps it was his reflection in the lens. My biggest problem was to get him to sit and not to investigate. And this was the result. Good dog. He looks confused. I supposed if I could change places, I would be, too.

Whenever I see Morning Glory I think of the second album released by Oasis (What's the Story) Morning Glory? Released in October 1995.

The track by the same name wasn't my favourite track but I loved the album.

Whenever I look at this image, it makes me think a lot... Took this shot at "1880 Town" South Dakota in 2006. Since I love this one very much, I made it B&W again (the first one that I put on my flicker about 2 years ago was too small (600X400)), besides I am not happy with the result. So I deleted it and did it again. Push "L" to see the large one.

Whenever I look at SD from the top of the roof, I can't help but think of this city being built out of Legos.

Whenever I can approach dragonflies, I always like to observe them and to watch them snacking on their prey. After taking tons of photos of her, I couldn’t help saying, "Be my pet." Then the dragonfly nodded her head twice. Oh my, what a coincidence and what a lovely experience!

Whenever...

Wherever...

we're meant to be together.

Whenever I am out in the wilderness or parks, I try to pick up at least one piece of trash. While out hunting voles, she also picks up trash!

Whenever you let go of it all you leave room for peace to blossom in your soul!

Whenever you look there are news about war, struggle, suffering, between nature and humans every day become harder to breath or to smile. It takes an extra effort this time to sorround your love ones with the a warm hug and peace.

I hope better times come in the near future.

I want to feel your skin against mine….

your breath caressing my neck …

your warmth embracing my senses like the sun’s golden rays….

this, my element, as i and my desires blossom

and thrive like natures foliage…

vibrant and steadfast in the wind….

my in between season ….

of need and desiring you.

Whenever you stumble across a track in the mountains, there's usually a river winding away nearby. Such is the case for the Cranbrook sub south of Moyie Lake, where it follows the Moyie river all the way to the US border at Kingsgate. CP 419 with CP 7016 leading is all done their work at Tochty (after waiting hours for 416 to work it) and is on the move towards Yahk and eventually Kingsgate where the train will cross the border onto the UP.

Whenever my garden starts loosing its colouful vitality and energy, and the lawn starts becoming multocolored by fallen leaves and petals, at the beginning of Autumn, I feel really down, because my garden starts its pre-hibernation period…

….But, on the other hand, it is really amazing how certain plants STILL go on blooming, independently of rains and negative météo, generally…

Here they are some, and very photogenic, I must say!!! 😊😊❤️❤️

Whenever I go to Wheelers Maple Sugar Camp, I can't seem to help myself form taking one more photo of the old maple sap buckets.

Whenever there is a ‘celebrity bird’ in Ottawa, I have noticed how quickly friction develops with the people in the neighbourhood the bird is visiting. The Lazuli Bunting last year was a perfect example. The Eastern Screech Owl might not be quite a celebrity, but if my experience is any indication, the neighbourhood is not thrilled about its presence or the visitors it attracts. This Red Squirrel monitored my presence steadily - not noisily, but steadily.

Whenever I see this while walking through a local parkette/sculpture garden I'm thinking of a 'Ground Control to Major Tom' kind of thing.

Whenever I see peach and mint colours side by side, I want to eat ice cream. Even when it's cold.

Whenever we stay in the north-west I inevitably get asked to pay a visit to Morecambe. Judy just loves wandering around, looking at whatever little independent shops might be left.

Morecambe was once one of the UK's leading seaside resorts, but the days of beach holidays in England seemed to be over until the Covid lockdowns and the subsequent problems going abroad. A lot more people are now staying in this country, so things might look up for the old traditional seaside towns.

The was taken from the stone pier which once had a railway line running along it to the ferry terminus for boats to Scotland and Ireland. Those days are long gone.

Whenever I visit my friend in Ontario we always enjoy a delicious buffet at the Mandarin.

Whenever I'm out photographing a well known landscape feature, I always look around and try to get images other than the most popular view. Those views may not have as awesome a feature that nature has created, but the views can still be interesting. This image at the Fire Wave is made on the side opposite of the wave feature. Such photos can serve as "documentation" of the local geology and landscape that some might ignore.

Whenever I feel down, seeing this face lifts me up again.

Whenever I find a broken piece of plant, I find a spot to replant it and give it a second chance. I planted such a piece of red Kalanchoe in the blue glazed ceramic pot where I grow Strawberries and couldn't resist capturing it as its first flower opened :)

Whenever we visit Dauset Trails we simply have to spend time at their Lotus Pond. Usually there are tons of lotus flowers and water lilies, but this time there were only water lilies.

So, this trip we focused on the water lilies. Oh, and the frogs. I was totally on "frog alert" but as usual - they were on "human alert".

After standing in the sun for ages, waiting for them to reappear, as they always vanish whenever we arrive, I finally just started taking photos of the lilies. Later, when going through my photos to delete the bad ones, I spotted these two little ones hiding in plain sight - more or less behind and in front of the white lily. Can you see them?

Whenever we head to the Gorge we stop at Latourell Falls my favorite of a series at the western end of the Gorge.

Whenever I take this bendy road to or from La Carnelle, my eye is drawn to this old barn. Here it is in colour (previously in October 2022 a toned B/W)

Whenever people suffered the difficulty in real life, they either faced the challenge with courage or hided themselves in their secret garden temporarily, made their sophicated thoughts within, and then find way to breakthrough again.

Have you ever own your secret garden ? It could be a real place in the world , or just a mental place at your mind, which made yourself feel safe & help you calm down from the suddently sufferings in real life.

Try to create the secret garden through the overlayering composition, it can be a place mixed with variable emotions, happiness, sorrow, hate, sadness, peaceful etc, not necesarry a subjective garden in vision, maybe just a private corner under the tree, on the meadow, or even the space between the leaves & air.. tell me how you think about your secret garden.

Whenever I see snow I still get the same simple thrill which reaches right back to childhood. I used to stare up at the sky tracing where the snowflakes come and go. I voluntarily went to bed early in winters in the hope of being the first one to wake up in a white wonderland.

No matter how much I have seen and experienced, my original joy of the snow stays intact, only gets intensified every time when the snowflakes flutter from the sky and reunite with my memories of childhood.

whenever someone who knows you disappears, you lose one version of yourself. yourself as you were seen, as you were judged to be. lover or enemy, mother or friend, those who know us construct us, and their several knowings slant the different facets of our characters like diamond-cutter's tools. each such loss is a step leading to the grave, where all versions blend and end.
