[ 44 / 52 Weeks - 29 october - 4 november ]
This week subject: Vintage. ( ❤ )
"And the sky is full of dreams
But you don't know how to fly
I don't have a simple answer
But I know that I could answer
Something better
This feeling won't go
Wait for it"
[This is Your Life - The Killers]
I have been listening to The Killers non-stop lately. I'm so in love. But I also bought an old Kings of Leon album and a couple Spoon albums... As well as a ton of other ones. I've spent too much money in the last little while... All on music. But I'm okay with that xD
Also, my photos have been extremely dark lately, mainly because I haven't been in a very good mood. But I'm starting to feel a bit better, so they should be getting a little brighter in no time :)

My just in case ended up being the photo for this weeks theme. Thanks to the husband for humouring me.
Decided to go out of this world this week. Well not quite. Using household objects as planets. The "comet" trail was a blue pen light I swished across the blackboard. Apart from contrast and cloning of dirt this was produced in camera.
Explore 23/07/2013 Thanks everyone for making my image onto Explore!
A feather from my collection. Not my best effort, but it was a busy week. Will try harder this week.
Well, this kind of reflects my life lately. Sit down to do something to try to relax and !%#!
For the Broken theme at 52 in 2016.
Playing basketball is one of the things I do to keep an active lifestyle... need practice on my shooting, though!
This is actually for last week, when creative juices were running low. I'll upload this week's 52 Weeks photo tomorrow.
PS. I had no idea my floor was so shiny!
PPS. I love my remote.
I decided to be brave and go into the forest despite the raging hoards of mosquitoes. I was definitely a sight to see, swatting them off while my grey card while tripping over roots, an adventure I dare say. Probably will try this again soon.
Anywho, enough of my ramblings..happy friday eer'body (:

Theme for this week is Shadow. It's cloudy outside so I shot this indoors. Not too exciting, but kind of simple and sweet.
One week ago today I stood at this spot, and now back home in San Francisco it almost feels as if I just imagined it. Even at the time it had a surreal quality. To have heard so much about Machu Picchu and seen so many images, then after four days of tough hiking to actually be standing there in the early morning light with this scene filling my field of vision… Really a unique, incredible experience.
Low clouds covered the peaks we’d hiked through the day before and there seemed to be a good chance Machu Picchu would be hidden under a gray blanket when we arrived. Instead the morning was unusually clear, with blue sky and sunlight on the ruins. Our group had uncanny luck the whole way. And that luck extended to the group itself. The people I hiked with turned out to be great – fun, friendly, laid back, good senses of humor – which made the whole experience that much better.
I’d wanted to do the ‘classic’ four-day Inca Trail hike for a long time and finally made a reservation back in June. The Peruvian government limits the number of people who can start the hike each day to 500 (which usually means only 200 tourists supported by 300 guides/porters/cooks), and typically all the spots are reserved months in advance, so you have to plan ahead. You also have to go with a certified tour operator. I chose Peru Treks and have nothing but good things to say about them.
The logistics make it tricky to fit the Inca Trail hike into a week-long vacation. Most tour operators require you to be in Cusco at least two days in advance so you can acclimate to the altitude. Cusco sits at about 11,000 feet and I can personally confirm that taking some time to adjust, especially coming from sea level, is really important. On my first day in Cusco a short climb up a flight of stairs left me winded and light headed. And just getting to Cusco takes a while. My flight had three legs – SF to San Salvador, to Lima, then to Cusco – which pretty much ate up a full day each way.
So I ended up leaving SF at about midnight on Thursday 10/15, getting to Cusco Friday night 10/16 and spending the weekend there, hiking the Inca Trail from Monday 10/19 through Thursday 10/22, hanging out in Cusco on Friday 10/23, checking out Lima on Saturday 10/24, and finally returning to SF around midnight on Sunday 10/25. Most of the other travelers I met were on much longer trips and I would have loved to have been able to spend more time exploring the rest of Peru. But all things considered I can’t think of many better ways to spend a week – truly an amazing trip. A lot more photos to follow.
It was harder to learn how to do the origami than making the photo hahah but I'm really happy with the result! Hope you enjoy, I'm really happy with this project!
#letsgetcreative2014 week two: Red
[This photo is for C. London's 52 Weeks of Photography Challenge - www.clondon.me/blog/52weeks0]
I want this year to be an opportunity to be more present and aware of the privileged life I'm fortunate to live. 2019 was a year that often kept me in low places, and I continually found myself beneath a weight of burdens that I let tie themselves to me rather than let them pass over me.
To that goal, my partner suggested journaling to me. To write down the things that I struggle with. Write down the things I'm grateful for. Write down the things that are important to me.
My photography goals in 2020 mirror that of my mental health goals. I want to feel more open to being creative, and I want to be less selective about what I share. I want to spend less time under the weight of being perfect, or better than the last shot. I'm not built for that grind.
I scanned through the first journal entry I wrote in my new journal and came across the phrase "I want to be happy."
I wanted to share that piece of my journal without revealing all of my other sensitive things I'm writing about, so I thought it would be a good opportunity to embrace my photography goals as well.
I want to be happy. I want the people around to me to be happy and healthy as well.
Here's to a happy 2020.

I've been thinking about this kind of styling for PW Elyse for quite some time and lately finally found the time for some phto play :)
Location: Seven Weeks Poort in the Little Karoo.
Description: Seven Weeks Poort is easily one of the most awe-inspiring and spectacular of all the mountain ravines in South Africa. The magnificent vertical rock folds, reaching for the skies on both sides of the road, reflect the inconceivable forces of the volcanic eruptions millions of years ago. Often the converging slopes leave only a narrow pass, just broad enough for the Huis River to pass through, while the precipices of naked, distorted rock-faces tower like walls of a natural rampart, obscuring the sun.
This photograph is dedicated to everyone who thinks it’s cool to break into someone else’s car to steal stuff... may they all rot in hell!

Week two. Theme: Red.
It took less than a week for me to remember why it is I'm not fond of shooting self portraits. Getting the focus sharp, ensuring the settings are how you like them, composing a shot nicely without really looking through the viewfinder, trying to look at least vaguely photogenic, plus (this time) shielding the camera from the lovely English rain... cor blimey. 51 weeks from now I'm hoping this will all be second-nature! From this week's shoot I came out with a handful of serious shots, a handful of smiley shots and this slightly scratchy, very frowny out-take (wind blowing hair into eyes = grumpy face!). Nathalie & Serena told me to go for the frowny shot (scary!), so here it is. Might brave a little blog post of the rest later this week. Hope you like it :]

Featuring five days of hot rods and one-of-a-kind creations of all models, colors and horsepower, Graffiti week is expected to draw about 20,000 participants and spectators over its five-day span. Cars must hail from 1965 or earlier, and there will be parades, exhibits, cruises and show 'n shine events all over town for a week.
A case of poor background? Hard to see the 'subject', which is why I did not as I passed close by. Possibly a Red Diamondback? Sharon would know, maybe when she gets back we will know!
I was lucky enough to get a number of pictures in Newcastle this week and couldn't decide which one to use for the theme this week. But since the theme Category is also Abstract, I liked the way this picture has pieces of reflection from all the buildings around it in a rather abstract manner. Its a bit like a mosaic of reflections.
