So no luck catching the super moon last week, or any moon lately for that matter, so.... I'm using this shot from last months blood moon, so I can move on to the next theme. ;-)

GWR 43079 & 43197 on 1A78, cruises along the Dawlish Sea Wall towards Dawlish Warren on a Plymouth to London Paddington service.

I was due to take this view on my extensively photographic trip down to Devon & Cornwall last week, however due to cloud and the threat of heavy rain, that plan was aborted, but worked perfectly this time around.

Week 18/52

Oh well. I guess this was channeling every person who's ever done a levitation shot. Which means... everyone.

I like female writers, especially when they're serious. I like Virginia Woolf, I like the Brontë sisters, I like 20th century writers, who transformed the way people see women, going from pretty-pieces-of-furniture-slash-sexual-toys to full on, thinking human beings. I am immensely grateful to all of them. But there's one who seems to get to me in a very particular way: Anaïs Nin. I read the compilation of her diaries ('Henry and June') for the first time when I was 15. It was life changing, as is everything at that age, but it's one of the books I keep in my nightstand. So when i read this quote of hers, earlier this week, I knew I had to work my photo of the week around it:

“I am an excitable person who only understands life lyrically, musically, in whom feelings are much stronger as reason. I am so thirsty for the marvelous that only the marvelous has power over me. Anything I can not transform into something marvelous, I let go. Reality doesn’t impress me.”

I'm constantly told, in my life, that I can't just do the things I like, that I have to do everything, because that's life and life is hard and yadda yadda. I know. I recognize and accept that kind of thinking, that kind of paradigm. But the truth is, if it doesn't make me smile in wonder, if it doesn't make my heart flutter with emotion, then I probably won't care much about what happens. And this is what the shot is about.

I spent most of my week writing, which gives me an immense sense of freedom, but also drains me. Writing takes so much more out of me than photography does. But the truth is, it makes me feel alive. Photography makes me feel alive through physical pain, through adrenaline, through putting myself in danger to get a cool shot; writing does that to me simply by pulling on my heart strings and allowing my fingers to run through the keyboard, through taking me by the hand and showing me that it could be like this and not like that. The muse was kind this week, and she lead me wisely through both fiction and photography.

A Bittern in flight ??

I'm on a mission to complete the 52 week photo challenge, to capture at least 1 photo a week for a whole year.

Look closer.

Let's go on an adventure while wearing those shoes. {Sooc}

Another week of bad weather and no inspiration!

Well thats a lie, i have so many ideas! but the weather isn't permitting them or my Model isn't available, and these i don't want to be self's!

So i was playing around. I got this old Bible in a Charity shop for £1.50, but its beautiful, pearlised cover and the note with the date in side (as i said before, i have a lot of junk!)

I don't feel this is one of my bests, but i also know i probably won't do much shooting over the weekend! I sound lazy!

But yeah, see you next week, have a good one people!

Week 2: Landscape

‪#‎dogwood52‬ ‪#‎dogwoodweek3‬

I am now only 2 weeks behind, doing nights and then days has slowed down my photography somewhat. Anyway Week 8's theme was "Half/Halves" so a simple self explanatory shot of an apple cut in half. Done.

Again, shot in IR 850nm, tripod used as I shot this from directly above using available light from the patio doors which gives a nice diffuse shadow on the grained wood. Hope you like it, I know I do.

All snuggled in for another snowstorm ❄️☃️❄️

27th Sept ~ 3rd Oct 2010

It's no good. I can't do it. I can not keep away and not do some sort of photo journal. On one hand I enjoyed it so much that I miss it terribly. On the other it was a royal pain in the proverbial some days. So I've had a think and arrived at a compromise of a photo a week. So a PAW rather than a PAD if you will.

So, my first week so freedom from carrying around a huge bag of photography equipment...

Tuesday I went to London for the day with Lydia for her 40th birthday. I took her to the Globe for a historical tour of the surrounding area which was fabulous, pit stop near St Paul's, meander down the South Bank to Skylon for an early dinner, then back to the Globe to see The Merry Wives of Windsor . I can't pick out a highlight because it was all brilliant.

The weekend was spent in the caravan at Tanner Farm with Catherine, Tim and Wiliam. We spent Saturday at Bedgebury, where I captured this Toadstool. The weather was better than forecast and we had yet another fabulous weekend with them.

The rest of the week I have been labouring over my Blurb book. It's taking me ages to transfer my whole year in photos in to a physical book to be printed. Thanks to Ly for sharing her books and tips on the whole process. x

Kind of a quiet week with my girl. She is not interested in her food but will eat what we are eating. She seems comfortable enough thanks to the Librela injection. We took her to the beach yesterday as it was a beautiful day here. I was trying for a nice shot of Della by the reflections in the little pond behind the beach. I didn’t get what I was hoping for but I am putting up the photo of what I did get at that location in the first comments box.

I went with my almost silhouette shot from our little walk by the beach. Our silhouette shots are not as fun and wild as they used to be. Jumping for frisbees is not in the beach time actives anymore. However just a short walk along the shore can be very nice too. There was no fooling around with the colors in this photo, that was really what it looked like!

We took bloodwork on Della yesterday as she has been so sedate lately. I fear her kidney issues might be catching up with her.

Lucky to find this parked next to me after shopping yesterday.

... was an adventure.

i'm still struggling with Nikon and gear. shot Canon for a week. i'm not sold on it. i'd like to shoot some more, but so far, i'd trust my Nikon gear for more 'hits'. of course, that was before this D4 that his shooting soft and back-focusing with all left focus points. i'm SO beyond all this crap now ... i've been battling with Nikon since April ... without two functioning bodies since then, and wasting hours, days and weeks testing gear THEY broke, crappy bodies, and now this D4 with focusing issues. SO utterly fed up. i'd make the switch to Canon if i felt i'd be any better off.

Mam Tor on a misty morning, had to go back the following week to see the sunrise.

For the rest of the year, if you want to see what I'm up to, the place to go is my Twitter, where I mainly tweet about my books & books in general, but also try to put up a Polaroid a day...
