week#145 Story telling

This was taken in the first few weeks of our lockdown when even here on the farm we were being extra careful Beau who lives in the 2nd house on our property and across the paddock would come over and talk to me through the window , but that slowly turned into coming into the house and the eventually to hugs again, hopeless we are.

46/52: Enjoy the moment

February 10 - February 16

I was just talking with my wife that Sapporo is getting warmer.

Even it is snowing outside and still cold being outside, however I can feel that the peak is over.

Big cities like Tokyo and Osaka had unusual amount of snow this week. They were having a bit of problems. I am originally from Tokyo, so I am still amazed by the people from Sapporo how prepared they are for this weather.

Since the first snow fall, Sapporo has had about 300cm of snowfall already, apparently 200cm less than this time last year, but hay this is a lot.

If you have not lived in the place where snow falls, living in Sapporo can give you interesting experiences.

Week 2

This week's prompt was "rule of thirds." I use this compositional rule often but I also like to break the rule when it works for the image. I took an image I liked better than this yesterday, but it didn't follow the rule of thirds so I chose this one instead.

The roads in this area were a bit worse than I had anticipated so getting around this area proved to be "interesting" early in the morning.

I finally received my Bird Buddy bird feeder and now I'm spying on the birds in our garden.

Spring indeed and a glorious day! Catching up with my photo a week and took this in my local graveyard.

The new growth of primroses were starting to come through in abundance and this little one caught my eye with the dappled spring sunshine highlighting the flowers. Additionally it's a perfect shot for both the theme of Spring and the Low Key technique challenge this month.

Shot on a Panasonic G3 converted for infrared photography, processed in Lightroom and Silver Efex.

Panning is hard! We've tried several things during the week and then this afternoon, on our way back from shopping, we stopped at this fountain where kids were playing and running around. I must say that kids run a bit too slow to get a nice panning effect with shorter shutter times, and so the limbs of mine are happily panning along ;) Still, it's a cool shot, and at least my model will want to work with me another time again.

For Kim - Week 5 challenge

This is an old assignment so I hope by now things are better. If not.. this quote has had a lot of meaning to me in difficult times & I hope it does the same for you.

Start with a simple image.

Kim Klassen textures: Bien & Oro

Any border effects: Grunge edge 2

Two-tiered composition: I didn't really do this but I did add visual interest by adding in 3 rectangles.

Since I just uploaded the one picture of David with the feathers floating around, I wanted to do something different with this theme. It turned into a very dark concept but I definitely think succeeded making something different from the photo with David.

I could of probably done better with this photo but it was a busy week. Did this around 1am last night and just got done editing it today. I like that this project forces me to take pictures even on my busy weeks, since I'm so set on completing this project without missing anything. I find that a lot of my picture require me to make fake blood in my kitchen alone past midnight xD.

Tried some portraiture this week. A work colleague bravely agreed to a few shots in a spare room at our office. Used the rooms spot lights plus a reflector to bounce light back onto her face. Applied a gradient map for the b&w effect and cloned some rogue hairs out.

Week 16: Eggsactly

I really feel like my muse has deserted me. I made this image just to keep up with my one 52 week project but I simply do not feel like taking photos, editing, or creating. I am going to Montreal with my family on Monday for a concert and I am really hoping that helps break me out of this funk.

A another week of seek-and-find at the last minute... but it's colorful. 14/52

“Listen, Bob. A gun is just a tool. No better and no worse than any other tool, a shovel- or an axe or a saddle or a stove or anything. Think of it always that way. A gun is as good- and as bad- as the man who carries it. Remember that.” Jack Schaefer

Left this until the last minute and we've had terrible weather all day. Just managed to get a shot when the rain stopped for a while but needed to to a HDR to brighten it up a bit. This will teach me not to leave it until the last minute in future.

actually it's not our van, but we do get to go riding in it sometimes! alice and i have even been camping in it. we had a beach day yesterday, but didn't take any pictures, so we were inspired to do a shot of alice *dreaming* of the beach.

my father had one of these camper vans when i was a kid. we had a medium sized black lab mix (actually looked a bit like alice) who always rode shotgun in our red van. whenever us kids, or even our mom, would ride in the van, we had to take a backseat to the pup.

had to get our 52 weeks shot in early again this week, as we will be pretty busy in the next few days.

Scrapbooking: A hobby I love but never seem to have time for. Have lots of paper though!

I've done a bit of lightpainting today and it's not too bad.
