Life. Rocks and water.
I used some different masking techniques and am very satisfied. Another learning curve for me and I am discombobulated as well as excited.....
May you be blessed with the strength of heaven
The light of the sun and the radiance of the moon
The splendor of the fire
The speed of lightning
the swiftness of wind
The depth of the sea
The stability of earth
And the firmness of rock.
kinetic paper installation
CITROËN celebrates the 5th anniversary of its DS-Models, and in the same time marks the 136th birthday of its founder Andre Citroën while presenting its newest C4 Cactus model, below “The Paper Wave” the longest Kinetic Lights installation ever.
A 65m long array of Kinetic Lights hovered above the car-runway while cars creating ripples were passing underneath. The installation looks like a delicate wave and is made of thin paper sheets that change colors. The installation is simple and pure, in the same time it is unique in its dimension and layer-like structure.
Any guesses for what this is? The bottom left corner probably gives it away. :)
Chicagoans will recognize this as the facade of the Aqua building. This award winning building was designed by Jeanne Gang, and it was (still is?) "the largest project ever awarded to an American firm headed by a woman" (Wikipedia).
I had been wanting to photograph Aqua for quite some time now. The balconies extend in an irregular, undulating manner, mimicking the topographical quality of flowing water. After all, the Chicago river and Lake Michigan are a stone's throw away. I remember reading somewhere that no two floors have the exact same balconies, just as no two waves are alike. Fortunately, this means that no two photographs will be exactly alike either. Stay tuned for a couple more photographs showing my take on this building.
