*I'm gonna be absent from flickr for a while. We have family coming and we're also gonna be traveling. So probably not much time for flickring. But we hope to get some great photos while away and you can be sure I'll be posting again soon :)

Mount Adams is starting to lose some of her snow finally... and often enough even on a sunny blue sky day there may be a bit of a veil of clouds dancing across her head...

I just spent a wonderful impromptu night in the forest... after work Wednesday, I took off up the 88 road, played around shooting the kayaking fisherman on Mosquito Lake while fighting off the hordes of skeeters... Then I drove up to the top of Indian Heaven and hiked in to Placid Lake where I got more shots of some young men fishing in a canoe... and lots of practice on how to overcome heavy shadowed foreground and strongly sunlit lake and trees by using circular polarizer and graduated neutral density filter and tripod... had some good success, too! Hiked back out in time to catch sunset over Mount Saint Helens from the SE side... and then a fiery horizon topped off with a crescent moon and Venus. Stopped in the dark at Mosquito Lake again and practiced Star Shots over the lake and trees... listened to the sound of trout jumping in the night, and layed on my back just soaking it all in. Finally decided that I really did not want to drive home so I stopped at one of my fave little pull outs by a sweet stream, set up my tent and bed roll, and fell asleep listening to the songs of the creek. This morning before coming to town for work I got to play in the creek for awhile... lots of lovely little falls and green reflective pools that sucked me in.

What a great recharge! I almost left my tent there but I knew my sis wanted me here another night, I have been gone 2 nights already.

Oh yeah... I lost a small afternoon job (no big loss) and the gain in time to play is awesome!

and about all those pics I took? well, just downloading them now.....

there was some awesome!! waves at cot valley today =D

Day trip to Cornwall

Surfer duck dives under the roil of the wave

Looking south to the headland at Karetane, a small port for fishing boats. I debated cloning out the stick but since it lay in the same line as the wave I let it stay.

Watching the waves crash against the shore near the Shrine of Saint Therese outside of Juneau, AK.
