Month of March, officially when spring begins, days getting longer and flowers start to bloom. Ah.. where have you been hiding Mr. Sun?
But who can resist frost in the morning, I just can't sleep with the idea in my head. Feet are dying to go, fingers very eager to press the shutter, just need to wait for the right time and condition.
I normally leave most of my stuff in the boot for when I just want to quickly drive around for some quick shoots, but alas! I did not double check if all my things are there, and I left one of the most important thing especially when going to the coast, my wellies!
My poor walking boots and feet were soaked in the freezing water and made it numb for awhile, wish there's a traveling Oaken nearby or just maybe next time check my things first before going :)
I spent the last few days down in Kalispell, Montana with my family and on one day we went to Glacier National Park to have a look around. Lake MacDonald was looking very nice that morning.. strong winds created these waves that made it seem more like an ocean coastline rather than a lakeshore! All the splashing also caused cool ice formations to build on the boulders near the water, which acted as great foregrounds.
There was a high chance of damaging my camera equipment during this shoot. High tide combined with big waves bouncing back from the rocks, created a real danger. I got soaked, but I managed to keep my camera clear of the water, fortunately. :)
Flickr does not do justice to pano shots. This was a 5 image pano plus a crop.
Hiking early morning in the dark to get the light, shadows and textures is worth it!

Luckily I had cleaned the salt spray off my lens just before this wave came in. Nature put on an incredible show here today both on the water, and land - will show that tomorrow.

I actually won a lotto permit for the wave out of over 70 people. Took me two tries though. I found a bone prop on the hike there.
Found a nice spot on the rocks in Lincoln Township Beach to sit and watch the waves roll into the beach.
