The waves on the Pacific Ocean coastline are sneaky...they will reach out and try to grab you if you turn your back on them!

Tiny waves washed onto the shore in below zero F weather and froze. More waves reached the ice and added to the little ridges, with water splashing and freezing into knobby formations. All of these ice photos, with all their variations, were taken within about 1/4 mile of each other at North Beach State Park, Bear Lake, Idaho

This isn't velvet, or a fine silky dress, or some strange sun storm, or a complicated fractal graph. This is simple sand, and it is absolutely unbelievable how the water and the wind are able to transform the sand. Day after day, year after year, age after age. Here, in a detail of the famous Antelope Canyon in Arizona, it is possible to see all the five elements gathered in a single image: the earth describes a wave, molded along the time by the wind and burned by the sun.

Take a huge post-cyclonic (Seth) north-eastern swell, mix with a king tide and a nice offshore wind and you get 12ft waves. Fairy Bower and the pathway between Manly and Shelly beach was inundated. Full gallery of the wave action: mike-gee.smugmug.com/Manly/Beating-up-the-Bower/

I went out to shoot just as a storm was rolling in. Used my 6 stop filter instead of my usual 10 stop to get capture some of the details in the crashing waves.

The auroras here at South Pole often look like waves of light. In fact, the aurora patterns follow the magnetic field lines of the Earth's magnetic field.

Waves crash against basalt neat Porto do Alcaide, along the rugged southern coast of Faial in the Freguesia de Angústias in the Azores. Angústias is one of the 3 civil parishes (freguesias) that make up the city of Horta.

With a capture ring on the final wave... and it's not even the beating of my heart. 👍

A splash about on the lovely beach at Soulac-Sur Mer was such a great treat for Mollie and Rupert, especially after spending time in the beautiful city of Bordeaux!

Huntington Beach, California

A young skilled surfer tests the waves on a summer morning in Huntington Beach which is also know as Surf City USA.

The morning was overcast and so the water did not display its usual clarity and color. The advantage though is the lack of strong shadows on the surfer's face. Wave Tools happens to be a brand of surfboard. It is not my intention to advertise for them, but thought that in this photo, the board provided both an interesting commentary and a splash of needed color.

Wind and waves at Cape Disappointment in Washington State

The waves rolling in at Clam Harbour Beach.

While it was more spectacular to witness in person, these are the waves that rolled through the channel at South Haven, lapping over the sides of the channel.

I will try to post something a bit more "moving" next.

Loved the late afternoon light on the waves and sky
