My washing machine has been wobbling. One of the legs underneath needs a good tightening. So, until I can get my fiance to fix it, I thought I'd make due with a book underneath the leg for support.....(see next photo in photostream)
Unplug the washer! Then remove the hex nuts across the top of the control panel.

Launderettes are quite nostalgic for me, so when I found one open and empty in the old part of Paignton, I had to go in and take a picture or two.

This ice cream maker is not really very old, as witnessed by the electric motor on top. The kind I remember, you had to crank.

Our washing machine is broken. So I learned how to take apart a washing machine.
We needed to do laundry, though. So we gathered up all of our laundry and went to the laundromat. Before we could get out the door, though, the stupid cat zipped out the door and made me chase him. Somehow, in the process of chasing him, I messed up my thumb QUITE THOROUGHLY. Not broken, but something is pulled or strained or torn or whatever, so now I'm working with one opposable-thumb primate hand and one effectively-thumbless raccoon paw.
It turns out EVERYTHING I DO WITH MY LIFE needs two thumbs.
love the colours, it's not as sharp as I would like, so wouldn't work blown up large, but it's a good place to start!
A couple of days ago I did some washing and when I came to take it out of the machine it was still wet, plainly it hadn't spun. I had another go with the same result and when I turned the drum by hand it made clonking sounds :(
As we got the machine twelve years ago I thought, "It's time to get another." So I went to Comet and ordered one yesterday; it was delivered and installed today. I'll just have to get used to this one now :)

My new washing machine! After months of visiting the laundromat my early birthday present arrived today! Onto my third load for the evening!

The Load Size knob on my Whirlpool washing machine that came with my house. There are only two settings: small and EXTRA LARGE.
The washing drum was wobbling and sometimes not lined up with the filler spigot - causing water to spill on the floor.
Fearing some major broken mounting bolt or something, I opened it up to find one of the springs had pulled through the rusted frame.
I drilled a new hole in good steel and reattached the spring.

The washing machine was made of gavanized iron. A handle was pumped by hand which worked a plunger up and down in the machine. A tap on the machine allowed the dirty water to drain out into a bucket.

He loves getting in the washing machine and playing around. Just got to make sure he doesn't press the "ON" button!
She sometimes likes to climb in on top of the clothes before I start the wash... she especially loves to get in the warm dryer as soon as I open the dryer door to start folding, but I guess today she'd take whatever nook she can get.
I had to cover up the bleach tank input with the Bounce box because it is so disgusting, full of lint and nasties from the previous owner. I will clean it up before Mom and Dad come to town!
*note* -- Mom and Dad are gone and the bleach intake is still yuck... on my cleaning to-do list.
