"My Chief Rabbit has told me to stay and defend this run, and until he says otherwise, I shall stay here."
-- Richard Adams from Watership Down
Hermann Park. Houston, Texas on March 1st (so, "Rabbit, Rabbit" for anyone believing in good omens).
Taken at Worcestershire Wildlife Trusts Upton Warren Reserve.
I spent the day at the Reserve with my partner in 'crime' Microwyred (David). After a couple of hours or so we moved hides. We had only just opened the shutters and settled down when a Kingfisher arrived. It stayed less than a minute. We were chuffed to bits as apparently it hasn't been seen very often recently.
Another two hours or more passed and the only 'excitement' were Canada Geese and Gulls. Then the sun broke through, there was a flash of blue and our luck changed ......... and stayed with us for 45 minutes. We took quite a few shots :-)
I am afraid I may be 'forced' to post a few more in the coming days!
A collection of class 1 paint schemes power UP intermodal ZLCLT (Los Angeles, CA to Lathrop, CA) through the curves at Warren.
Warren cottage was once the home of the Membland Estate warrener, who would have been responsible for breeding rabbits for meat and fur.
It was later rebuilt as a summerhouse and luncheon stop for Lord Revelstoke’s carriage parties; he entertained the future King Edward VII here.
Scarred landscape of Headland Warren showing deep gullies left by former tin mining activities. The outline of Birch Tor can be seen on the hilltop. Blooming heather is starting to colour part of the moor and will be at its best in about a couple of weeks time.
Ditsworthy Warren House is a Grade II listed building near Sheepstor in Devon, England. It is an isolated building on the south-western edge of Dartmoor, and was built for the keeper of the rabbit warren near the house. It was used in 2010 as a filming location for the Steven Spielberg film, War Horse.
This is a long-exposure photo of Warren beach, near Rosscarbery, as it looked on our first visit.
Being the closest to our home I visited it many more times and every time it looked very different due to the weather and light.
So stay tuned for more...

We spent a couple of hours checking out all the tractors, old farm implements and steam engines. The whole time listening to music. We assumed it was a recording. Then to our surprise went inside the barn where great BBQ was being served and saw this group playing. They were good! Never missed a note.

Warren County Old Threshers
Warrenton, Missouri
Lovely to see lizards out basking in the sunshine yesterday on the boardwalks at North warren Nature Reserve in Aldeburgh.
Drought-breaking rains have replenished rivers, lakes, wetlands and farm dams in much of western NSW. This is a small wetland and lake in Warren, where community efforts have established trails for bird watchers.
