"My Chief Rabbit has told me to stay and defend this run, and until he says otherwise, I shall stay here."

-- Richard Adams from Watership Down

An eastbound Southern Pacific freight rolls through Warren curve west of Mojave, California, on March 6, 1995. Powering the train is a pair each of EMDs and GEs—SP SD40T-2 No. 8517 leads Cotton Belt SD45T-2 No. 9396, SP B39-8 No. 8008 and SSW B40-8 No. 8074.

Taken at Worcestershire Wildlife Trusts Upton Warren Reserve.

I spent the day at the Reserve with my partner in 'crime' Microwyred (David). After a couple of hours or so we moved hides. We had only just opened the shutters and settled down when a Kingfisher arrived. It stayed less than a minute. We were chuffed to bits as apparently it hasn't been seen very often recently.

Another two hours or more passed and the only 'excitement' were Canada Geese and Gulls. Then the sun broke through, there was a flash of blue and our luck changed ......... and stayed with us for 45 minutes. We took quite a few shots :-)

I am afraid I may be 'forced' to post a few more in the coming days!

SP 9313 shows how good the speed lettering looks on the freshly out shopped units, as a west bound manifest rounds the big curve at Warren, Mojave.

Part of the English Coastal Footpath heading west into Warren Glen before sunrise - HFF!

Tall trees and long shadows cast across the forest floor in this State Park.

A second photo from Dawlish Warren beach last Sunday - this time without any animal intervention. I took a few shots trying to capture the water movement - this is the only one I was happy with.

Admiring the expanse of sand in Warren Dunes State Park.

Scarred landscape of Headland Warren showing deep gullies left by former tin mining activities. The outline of Birch Tor can be seen on the hilltop. Blooming heather is starting to colour part of the moor and will be at its best in about a couple of weeks time.

Caroline and myself have been exploring The Warren at Folkestone.

This image was taken on a dull morning at low tide. The vast seascape with its rocks and seaweed is lovely with just the right sky to compliment it.

Trin Warren Tam-Boore Bellbird Waterhole - Melbourne

Austrália

Forty hours after waking up in our bed, we landed in Melbourne. As soon as we got our car, we drove to this place in the middle of Melbourne because we were very anxious to start photographing lifers.

The first great surprise was that we didn’t have to pay for parking. Amazing, something very unusual for us in our cities.

We immediately spotted 7 or 8 lifers.

This is a common species, and we already knew that. The problem with common species, when we’re short on time, is that we don’t spend enough time with them, and then, when we return, we regret it.

Ditsworthy Warren House is a Grade II listed building near Sheepstor in Devon, England. It is an isolated building on the south-western edge of Dartmoor, and was built for the keeper of the rabbit warren near the house. It was used in 2010 as a filming location for the Steven Spielberg film, War Horse.

This is a long-exposure photo of Warren beach, near Rosscarbery, as it looked on our first visit.

Being the closest to our home I visited it many more times and every time it looked very different due to the weather and light.

So stay tuned for more...

The towering trees covering the back side of the sand dunes in Warren Dunes State Park.

We spent a couple of hours checking out all the tractors, old farm implements and steam engines. The whole time listening to music. We assumed it was a recording. Then to our surprise went inside the barn where great BBQ was being served and saw this group playing. They were good! Never missed a note.

Warren Gorge is an absolutely glorious spot in the Southern Flinders Ranges just outside Quorn.

Lovely to see lizards out basking in the sunshine yesterday on the boardwalks at North warren Nature Reserve in Aldeburgh.

First time we've been to this one. Found some neat things we hadn't seen.
