Warmer calmer night yields a better catch including a new for garden micro.
On Sunday it was of course Father's Day, and after a busy day seeing both sides of the family, the trap was switched on when I returned home.
A muggy and warmer night, with lighter winds was on the cards but it did cool down a little more than predicted and we lost the humidity with lows of 11c.
8 new for year species were recorded including a new for garden record.
I was convinced I had recorded the odd little 'white eye-capped' Opostega salaciella before, but I got mixed up with taking it on a field trip and in France on holiday, a nice feeling to know that I was wrong and that it was indeed to be the 344th species of Micro Moth for the garden
So close to 700 species, Opostega salaciella makes it 699 for the garden since 2012
Garden species count for 2019 now upto 177.

Did you know that the cardboard sleeves you usually get with your morning coffee can add up to 6-10 lbs. of paper waste a year? This funky sleeve is made out of the sleeve of a felted wool sweater and jazzed up with a cool design. The sleeve slides on the cup and was designed to fit a 12oz (large) coffee cup. Not only will this sleeve keep your hands from burning, but it will also keep your drink warm. All of my sleeves are one of a kind- no two are ever alike. The edges are raw and may fray slightly, but because the wool is felted it will not unravel completely.

Shot of a flower a friend cut for me. I think he saw how late I was at work on weekend (and worn out) and felt bad when he saw my car still outside office. Hipstamatic.

The wide open spaces of Kah-Nee-Ta create a bountiful mecca for recreation. Natural hot springs pour into our pools, and the Warm Springs River follows the canyon floor to create a spectacular water world that's ideal for kayaking. Roam where the natives once did among the rugged landscape by foot or horse.
This is a band called "No Longer Together". They did a number of Blink 182 cover tunes in a plaza at Westgate Center. Their parents were working the boards. 3 images, -2 to +2, mixed back with the 0 exposure Raw to eliminate any movement based ghosting.
The Youth Orchestra of the Americas tuning for a concert in Jordan Hall at the New England Conservatory of Music. This stage was almost as amazing as the young people who played for us.

It was so warm today I had to come in and put my flip flops on to finish my garden chores, how awesome in mid-November in NE Ohio!
One important reason to draw from construction is that you must understand what you see before you can construct something. The temptation is to draw from observation, simply because you don't understand what you're seeing (and therefore draw it wrong). This is what happened in this warm-up sketch.
A yawning cat is rather unusual, because we don't see it as often and cats are able to open their mouth much further (angle-wise) than humans. The temptation is to revert to human proportions, which I did in this case. The skull of a cat is oblong, not round, like in humans.
So, look first, draw later.
In case you were wondering, close that mouth in your mind's eye. The lower jaw extends well in front of the upper jaw. It is a ridiculous sight to see, if it were real.
