This was the second time I have come across a wild Lynx while out in the back country of Alaska. We were pulled over before crossing a bridge and this absolutely gorgeous animal popped out of the brush, gave a glance and went back in never to be seen again, leaving me wanting so so much more...
It was dark and moody, and I kept it that way...

Day 104 of 365 days.
Whenever I see that smile of yours my heart does a little dance inside. I long for something to happen between us. I wish you would feel that electricity I feel when you're near me. I just want something to begin. Sometimes I find myself daydreaming about all this and I start to feel sad. You're something so amazing. Everyone likes to be around you because of the atmosphere around you. While I'm not like that. I can't make people feel that way. You're too good to me. You're something better than I will ever be and I find myself drowning in my heart. I just want something to begin.
Sorry for my thoughts. I just have a lot of emotions in my heart and thoughts in my brain. Sometimes the best way to let it out is to write it down. Today was pretty good. I had an early release and I found out I get my braces off in a month!! Thank goodness. My day consisted of photo taking, editing, sleeping with my cat, watching Harry Potter, and studying. Now I need to get back to that.

Been wanting a rifle for a while so I finally got around to building this...thing. Not the best representation of a lightweight M4 but it works. Also tweaked the leg midpoint and feet to more accurately follow the standard anthro-dragon design (and have the feet be less of a copy-paste from Alieraah's MOC Endeavor).
After wanting to see these overgrown greenhouses for a year I decided to go for a look. Ok I know its not the most interesting place to most but i thought it could be quite photogenic, and I think I was right.
I was walking over to the greenhouses, and I was glad to finally get inside them. walking through them I soon started to think why is there such a walked path through them? In places what was growing was that dense you couldn't walk from the path. when I got down to the final greenhouse I went in I was surprised to see that there was a clearing and a newish wood hut built inside the greenhouse, It was strange that its inside hidden and over 200 meters from any sort of road. I moved around the side of the cabin and noticed it was quite kept. I then saw a stool out front of it. I peered around the corner curious to know what it was all about, then I noticed the stool had £5 notes stacked up on top of it! That was the split second I decided to turn and make my way back out as fast as I could, I wasn't wanting to know what it was all about, I don't have a clue how much was there, or who was inside the cabin.
I've been wanting to capture an image like this for a long time, but never had the chance until the first time I camped in Yellowstone a week ago.
Yes, I've been home for a week now, with a HUGE cold (or something): sore throat, phlegmy cough that just won't stop, congested head, stuffy nose, general malaise, absolutely no sense of smell or taste (still suffering through that and it's been a week). I originally thought this was nothing more than a raw throat caused by breathing in a large lungful of sulfur steam at one of the hydrothermal features, but once I got home, that turned out not to be the case.
I'm not surprised, really, because the summer crowds were still there, seeing the sights and doing stupid stuff (more about that in a later post).
Anyway, I didn't really start to feel bad until my last day in Yellowstone, and part of that I attribute to total exhaustion, since it was go-go-go with my cameras from the day I arrived.
Camping was pretty cool, both figuratively and literally. At Grant Campground, it got down into the 20s (Fahrenheit). Nothing I could do would keep me warm. Quite a switch from the 90+ degrees F we have in Central WA.
At one point, just a few minutes before midnight, I awoke to hear the wolves howl. Oh my, what a beautiful, haunting, reverby song that was. It went off and on for about 15 minutes. I fell back asleep to be awakened at about 2:40 a.m by the chorus of coyotes. Their howls and yips are decidedly different from the wolves and easy to tell apart.
So, I got up, lit the tent with my lanterns, set up tripod and camera, and captured some starry, lit-up tent shots.
I used a regular ISO of 250 and a medium-sized aperture with a bit of a lengthy shutter speed. The trick was to try and not blow out the brightly-lit tent but to still capture the starry sky. Turned out better than I thought it would.
I'll try to be better at posting. I have a part-time job, plus the regular housework, plus working on the thousands of photos I captured during this past 8-day trip to Yellowstone.
Here's a piece of advice for you if you are planning to visit this amazing national park: If you go during the summer, make sure you get to whatever spot you wish to see EARLY in the morning. That way, you are assured a parking spot and you'll have the view to yourself for awhile before the crowds begin arriving sometime around 8 a.m.

Despite really wanting to do the challenge this month (imitation shots are my favourite), I found it hard to get motivated. I made a list of possibles a couple of weeks ago but only got around to trying anything today. It is the first time, since 12 months started, that I have been on the 'missings' list.
So here is my imitation shot, inspired by Mette Hundebøll Larsen's Flokken or 3 wise monkeys.

Wanting to achieve photography as art, I thought I might try a photograph of Art. This image is of a sign in an alley in Provincetown, Massachusetts.
This picture is something that I've been wanting to do for over a year now. So I'm glad I got a chance to work on it this week. In life, I often find I have no idea at all where I'm heading. I've felt this way many, many times this past year with all the changes in my life and when I'm really at a loss as to an important life choice I have to make I take time out to listen to my intuition. So far it hasn't let me down and the lovely thing about it that I've found is that there is so much freedom in this not knowing and heading off into the unknown. In finding myself in a place or situation that I haven't been in before and might not ever have found myself in if I'd known in advance how hard it would be. But like all things that are hard to come by they are usually very well worth it.

Been wanting to shoot this bridge in fog for over 2 years but it never happened until now. Looked out my bedroom window at 11:30pm about to go to bed and saw some thick fog so quickly got dressed and headed out.
9 times out of 10 it's probably a wasted journey but it's always worth it for that 1 time that you get what you wanted.
The wonderful Fatoumata Diawara from her gig in Vincennes, a suburb of Paris, in May 2014.

My profound thanks are due to Sophie Cragg, for arranging my photo pass and particularly for allowing me to shoot the full show.
I've been wanting to capture a snowy sunset for a while but I've been unable to do. My flight got delayed by several hours which really only affected where my lay over got spent and allowed me to see the gorgeous unexpected blessing. It was so much fun to fly at the golden hour and to see the sunset. I'll post another picture where fly over Chicago just after sunset with the city lights
