Been wanting to do this shoot for a while now, today was 'warm' enough to do it. Well done Marian for braving the freezing water! This is quite a romantic and nostalgic idea...underlining the fact that loosing the perceptions of childhood is a bad idea! ;)
Oh and I have a blog/facebook and twitter...so come and join me there! Have a great weekend! :)
I've been wanting to get out to this waterfall forever, and I finally made it out today. After a 30 minute uphill hike I finally made it to the "hidden split" where the trail splits and heads down to the sound of the waterfall.
It's very steep downhill in the mud and there are a handful of downed trees and huge roots to cross before you see the cliff overhang on the right. I was SURE I was going to look under the cliff and see a pair of bear eyes staring back at me. Being alone, I didn't explore under the overhang because I couldn't shake a bad feeling.
Scrambling over the boulders and roots and through the mud I finally reached the view I'd been waiting for, a perfect side view of the right side of this photo through the rhododendrons. It looked like a scene out of Tomb Raider. I was so excited! I planned on coming back up on the way out and getting a good "Tomb Raider" shot. Too bad it started raining like crazy 5 minutes after I got there. I snapped five or six shots from this vantage at the base of the falls, before I had to unfurl my hammock and wrap it around my camera bag to keep everything dry.
I didn't get my Tomb Raider shot, and it had stopped raining by the time I reached the trail head again. Typical. But I love this photo and I had a great afternoon. I was covered head to toe in mud!
The Milky Way... I've been wanting to try this ever since I got this amazing new camera three months ago. To push the camera to the absolute minimum amount of light possible, and see what it can pull out of it. The results absolutely blew my mind!!! In New Jersey, on a clear night you can see 4 or 5 stars. After spending most of my life there, I am just mesmerized when I look up at the night sky in the mountains out west. Being up over 6000 feet elevation, where the air is thin and clear, hundreds of miles from city lights. A couple nights ago, I looked up at one of the clearest, darkest night skies I had ever seen. The moon was not out yet. There was the milky way, streaking across the middle of the sky like a streaky white cloud. I figured, now's the time. Let's give this a try. I aimed the camera almost straight up towards the Milky Way, and Jupiter. I used my 50mm f1.4 lens, with the f-stop wide open. I was worried about the focus, which is critical at f1.4. To my amazement, Jupiter was so bright, my autofocus was actually able to focus on it. Jupiter is always easy to spot. It's the brightest thing in the sky.
So... The exposure. 10 seconds, f1.4, ISO 800. This camera had virtually no noise at 800 ISO. I pulled it up in Photoshop. At first the smaller stars were faint. All I did was start cranking up the contrast, and all these distant stars started appearing, and the faint cloud of the milky way just exploded to life, it's the diagonal lighter stripe going across the frame. I went back outside and looked at that same section of the sky. For every one star I could see with the naked eye, this camera probably picked up a thousand more. The mis-shapen, flying saucer shaped ones toward the right are all distant galaxies. This shot is uncropped. The only photoshopping was cranking up the contrast, and some slight sharpening. There is no camera noise visible... These are ALL stars!
I uploaded this one the twice as large as I normally do.
THIS ONE ABSOLUTELY MUST BE VIEWED AT THE LARGE SIZE TO APPRECIATE THE DETAILS.
Even if it doesn't fit on your screen and you have to scroll around it. Check it out large.

I've been wanting to experiment with time-lapse photography and learn the process, so yesterday afternoon I played with my camera gear in the woods while Blanca had to entertain herself sniffing every bush. I hadn't planned to post this, but when I put it all together I thought it was really rather pretty and serene. I only had 6 seconds of final video so I looped it 3 times. What you see here was 3 minutes in actual time.
I shot these pictures at 1-second intervals and put it all together in Windows Movie Maker. It was only AFTERWARDS that I realized my Nikon D750 actually has a mode called, funnily enough, "time lapse" where it merges it all into a movie for you. Maybe I'll try that next time!

Wanting to do something a little different and not too far from town, I found this trail on a map I have that is geared more towards mountain bikers. Well, I didn't see any mountain bikers or hikers for that matter. The hike ended up becoming a special little gem, no doubt because of the wonderful light conditions I found there. One of those moments you wish wouldn't end.
Sunrise. Waterfowl lakes. Mt Chephren. Banff. Alberta. Iâve been wanting to witness a sunrise here since I first saw this incredible lake and massive mountain! The light was glorious, the moment truly inspired me. Iâve lately been embracing living in the moment. Like Andy from the office said, âI wish there was a way to know youâre in the good old days before youâve actually left them.â via 500px ift.tt/2zK4jc5
this is a picture of the same oriental cherry tree from across the street that I shot while blossoming last spring at eastern... clearly wanting to skip winter!
last spring came very late, now seems it 's coming extra extra early!
temperatures hardly went under 10°C till now and later this week going to rise even up to 15°C !!
We drive daily by this spot I've been wanting to take pictures of for a while now. For weeks I've been wanting to stop and take pictures there. I could just see the picture in my mind! But for some reason or another, I'd never take it. Either I'd forget my camera or wasn't in the mood to get off and have people stare at me. Yesterday I got the courage. People did drive slow and stare to see what the heck I was doing out in the middle of this field but, eh! Whatever. I got my perfect shot. This is exactly how I pictured it! And I'm so proud of this one. It's Wednesday y'all! My Mother comes to visit tomorrow. Looking forward to that!
HBWE!
been wanting to make an outfit with this mask for so long and finally did it :) i miss being creepy x3
Been wanting to do a pic for Star-Lord (who?) for a while since I got the Milano several months ago and finally sat down and took the pic and edited it. One of the things that was pretty prevalent in Guardians (and a lot of movies now a days) is dramatic lends flare, so to keep with the style of the film I added one for good mesure. :)
Like the last picture I did I'll be uploading the original photo to my Twitter feed sometime today. :)

Wanting to be with you
in the middle of what i'm doing
wanting to be gone
lost within you
Nothing but with you
closer than hand to hand
more intimate than lips to lips
wanting to be with you
Being tender within you
kissing you from the outside
and caressing you from within
this and that way and also differently
And wanting to inhale you
nothing but inhaling
deeper deeper
and to drink without exhaling
And while doing so searching the distance
to see you
just two hands away
and then kiss you again

I've been wanting to make a Shaak Ti to go with the rest of my Force Unleashed figs for a while, and realized this torso was pretty much perfect for it. The idea of using a Mighty Micros Flash head came to find and this thing just threw itself together.
Also featuring Starkiller and some feeble attempts at some Felucian Warriors.
Let me know what you think, eh?
We are all a scene in our own dreams.

Yes, I am flexible. I used to be a gymnast.
I'm going to hang with Jon for the rest of the day. I'll catch up on your streams later! :)

Iâve been wanting to visit Mt. Rainier for a number of years. When the snow melts around the dormant volcano, wildflowers pop up everywhere. Fields and fields and fields of wildflowers, so much that it often just looks like sheets of color. The wildflowers bloom in August every year, but some years have more flowers than others and itâs all dependent upon how much snow the area gets and when it melts.
The winter was a nice wet one, and Willie and I had high hopes that the wildflowers would be out in full force. Unfortunately Mama Nature had different plans. The endless fields of flowers we wanted just werenât there. We found a patch of flowers here and a patch of flowers there. This particular patch was one such example and in this little area we saw mostly Indian Paintbrush and Purple Lupine.
We hiked up the mountain early one morning, knowing that clear skies meant our only chance at a nice photo would happen at twilight, before the sun came up and while it was still âblue hourâ. We went to our trusty âPaintbrush Fieldâ as we called it, and used the beautiful red flowers as the foreground, while the massive Mt. Rainier towers behind.

Been wanting to make this shot for months but felt the best chance of pulling it off was when a particular set of circumstances coincided.
So, with clear skies forecast; a half moon to gently light the foreground & cliff faces; and no school to get the family ready for the next day, Sunday turned out to be perfect. It just so happened I also had a full tank of fuel :)
It's another of those locations I've now been to at nighttime but never seen during the day so I got lost a little; and I underestimated the distance from the car park down to the tripod holes left by the last photographer who made this cliche view- net result, slight backache after carrying my 35lb rucksack (don't ask)! If you want to know where it is, the geotag is for the car park- the view is 1200
paces from there.
Still, I'm very pleased with how the image turned out and finally back underway shooting more for this series of startrailed landmarks I started back in 2011.
Thanks for looking- Andrew.
NB Exif shown is for the base frame. Startrails were then shot at ISO2000 f/2.8. I used the latest version of StarStaX to stack the trails (gap filling- yay!) then layered this in PS with the foreground frame.

I've been wanting to get a shot at the pastoral scene along the trail in Hudson's Maple Grove Park, and after two previous fails, this one worked. NS empty grain train #55K, off the RJ Corman in Cresson, PA, is westbound with the PRR H unit leading. Not that you could tell, but this is "home rails", being the former PRR C&P line between Cleveland and Pittsburgh.

I keep wanting to take more creative pictures, but they end up being more like magazine ads. Ah well .. go with the flow.
If any maker needs modeling or pictures I never charge. Simply message 'Sweetdiantha Resident'. My passion is doing for others without need for repayment.
This is a older item by CLBlue which you can find here > marketplace.secondlife.com/p/CLBlue-Betty-String-Swimsuit.... The textures in the HUD are mostly mine including the one in this picture. It was named 'Pink' in the HUD but its actual name is 'Candy Stripe'.
If you own this item, or buy it, here is an additional set of textures to use. Three different normals (5%, 10%, 15%), one diffuse and one specular. imgur.com/a/5qQ7XUR. You must use the specular with one of the three normals if you decide to use them.
The cheetah diffuse seems to have been removed from the HUD so adding it here for those to use in the Betty swimsuit or any other items they may like. Simply know that the provided textures are my work and are not public domain. By using the provided textures you agree that the textures are mine and that you have no rights to them besides personal use. They may not be included in anything for sale.
If you see the textures used in anything for sale simply message 'Sweetdiantha Resident' in-world.
How to use the cheetah diffuse : It was designed to be included in items at various angles, not simply as a non-angled tiled texture. So make sure you angle it when including it in items for the best look.
(In the photo I am wearing the 10% normal on the Candy Stripe)
The normal is perfect for emulating a textured shine or cloth.
