The ruined engine house at Wheal Owles. It was struck by disaster in 1893; miners working below sea level accidentally opened an old tunnel and the sea rushed in. Twenty miners were lost - their bodies never recovered - and the mine never opened again.

It was a bit of a moody morning and what worked well here is the walkway has a gloss look and capturing the mood in between showers, also strong winds hence the moody clouds.

Sól była głównym towarem eksportowym Lubeki do Skandynawii, gdzie używano jej do konserwacji ryb. Sól składowana była w kompleksie spichlerzy, który powstał od 1579 do 1745 r. Przywożona była drogą lądową, a później wodną z Lüneburga.

Salt was Lübeck's main export commodity to Scandinavia, where it was used for preservation of fish. Salt was stored in the group of granaries built from 1579 to 1745. It was brought to Lübeck from Lüneburg by road and later by water.
Similar to an earlier shot of this palace, but this time clicked after the individual LEDs were switched off with only the floodlights illuminating the magnificent structure. This was just before all the lights were switched off and the palace grounds closed for the night.

Chajianling means Arrow Ridge. There are many peculiarly shaped boulders stuck to the ground like arrows.
This is Arnarnes, an abandoned farmhouse slowly weathering away at the roots of mountain Óþoli in north-western Iceland.
This place is very remote so when the middle-aged couple who built it moved there from the city, they had to sign a contract with the electrical company to live there for 20 years in order for them to bother supplying them with electricity. But the husband was lost at sea on his last tour on the postal ship, dooming his widow to 20 years in solitude. The sentence was cut short when she fell ill and was rushed to a hospital in Reykjavík where she passed away. The house bears witness to this sudden abandonment as you'll find spices in the kitchen shelves, newspapers on the nightstand and all the furniture still in place.It has been abandoned since 1967.
The house's sad story and its magical surroundings make it a truly bittersweet visit.

This is a straightforward photograph of a piece of seaweed on a sandy beach. The marks left in the sand were created as the outgoing tide washed around it.
It was my entry for "Objects and structures" in World Photography Day Contest 2022.
The beacon in our local park was lit as part of the Queen's Platinum Jubilee celebration - Woodthorpe Park, Nottingham.
Infinity glasses, taken for a 30 Days of Composition photo challenge on A Year With My Camera. My husband thought that I was on a cleaning spree, polishing already clean glasses... I think that it was well worth it for this shot! 😊
While I love taking photographs of nature I also love taking photos of cities at night. It's kind of surreal wandering around feeling like you're the only person in the city or town. This is Weissgerbergasse in Nurnberg, Germany. It's full of those classic German houses and, combined with the cobblestone pavement and the classical street lamps, makes a very unique scene to capture day or night.
