Near to the Mapperley wood hide and well protected by stinging nettles........

This one was about 4 cms across, and was near to a much larger and flatter one that was not as photogenic as it had been partially eaten by something. I wonder if that something is now happily tripping.......

The Garden Tiger is an attractive, brown-and-white moth of sand dunes, woodland edges, meadows and hedgerows; it will also visit gardens. In decline, it is suffering from the 'tidying up' of our countryside. The garden tiger is well-protected against predators: the hairs on the caterpillar are irritating; the bright colours on the adult warn that it is unpalatable; and adults can rub their wings together to create a rasping noise.

Arctia caja is a northern species found in Europe, the US and Canada. This freshly-emerged moth was seen at Prees Heath nature reserve in Shropshire.

Another capture from close to Pordoi: some dramatic sun rays lighten up the clouds along the Langkofel group. Towards Pordoi and Arabba, things turned as well into drama, as clouds as black they could appear moved quickly towards our view point. I had to water protect all my photogear well inside my poor weather protected vehicle...good that exiting the cars typically happen in a well protected garage :-). Stay healthy and safe, 2 more days to reach weekend. Thanks, Udo.

and never give up ! This is the most photographed tree in Sutton Park. It looks dead, but no, one part of it sprouts new leaves every spring. It won't give up ! I think it's wonderful ! So do many others - it is well protected at the base, as you can see.

Taken on Christmas Day, 2017 and edited in Topaz Studio. Thank you so much, as always, for your lovely comments and faves, I so appreciate it. I hope this gives you inspiration in life. January is a cold grey month, but the sky is often wonderful. Everything seems so dead in the midst of winter, but not if we stop and look again.

When the spring comes, I will take another photo of this old oak and let you see the leaves !

I do not put my trust in human wisdom but in the Power of God!

Rise up, LORD, and let thine enemies be scattered; and let them that hate thee flee before thee. ~ Numbers 10:35

Father, I come before you in JESUS' name, and I thank you for giving me all power and all authority over all demons. I cover myself in the blood of JESUS. I cover all my family members in the blood of JESUS. I thank you for your giant warring angels that are surrounding us, protecting us from all harm of the enemy. I take my authority and I attack from the third Heaven, and I bind the strongman over my mind, will, emotions, and over my home, in JESUS' name. I command you to leave this area now in JESUS' name. I bind up every demon that was sent to me, transferred to me, or followed me, and I command you to come out of my conscious, subconscious, unconscious mind, all parts of my body, will, emotions, and personality, in JESUS' name.

Male... a very common and well protected species in Iceland...

Hello, dear friends! I hope you are all very well!

Here I am, back after my long vacation in Iceland and a few days of rest. I was really needing to rest, because the cold and humidity in Iceland gave me some really hard time, my skeleton didn't like it at all. Thank God, since I arrived to Portugal, with the heat and the treatments, I'm feeling much better.

But I LOVED Iceland, it's a wonderful country with fantastic landscapes, lovely people and a beautiful fauna, it really deserves a long visit, and I must go there again, to see the northern lights, because this wasn't the ideal time to see them. There was daylight all the time.

* We have stayed in Wimereux several times usually at the beginning or the end of a longer holiday . On this occasion we had two days there so we could explore the area a little more . Between Wimereux and the small settlement at Ambleteuse is a very interesting area of very established and impressive sand dunes. The dunes are well protected but there is a designated path so you can view them. I will post a shot or two of the Dunes at some point Eventually you arrive on the beach of the Baie de Slack . This shot was taken looking north towards Ambleteuse. One interesting detail in the seventeenth century fort built to defend the River Slack estuary

Fort d'Ambleteuse is a sea fort by the commune of Ambleteuse .The fort was built at the end of the 17th century by the military architect Vauban on the orders of Louis XIV to defend the port in the estuary of the Slack. It was designated a Monument historique in the 1960s.

Stórhöfði is the southernmost place in Heimaey island and one of the windiest places in Iceland. The place is also famous for the large numbers of puffins arriving every year to nest and breed there. There is also a puffin lookout on Stórhöfði where you can protect yourself from the wind and observe the puffins. This time, however, I've chosen this wooly family as model :)

An amazing looking Bird - the secretary bird. With its long legs, well protected by hard scales, this bird is specialised to hunt snakes in the african savannah. I really love their "attitude" - aren't these feathers stylish? 😄

Many Lofoten visitors will agree that Nusfjord is one of the most beautiful places of the Lofoten. Like many other places, it has been a locally important fishing port for centuries. No wonder, because the picturesque Nusfjord has a well protected natural harbour. Fishermen used to find space in the 50 or so traditional Rorbuer during the seasonal cod ride, today every year thousands of tourists enjoy the beautiful landscape, the picturesque place with its buildings from the late 19th and early 20th century, the changeable weather and the sea.

Dettifoss 20210720

Dettifoss is a waterfall found in North Iceland, said to be the most powerful in Europe. It is regularly visited on Diamond Circle tours and should not be missed by any visiting the region.

Dettifoss is fed by the powerful glacier river Jökulsá á Fjöllum which flows from the largest glacier in Europe, Vatnajökull. The thunderous falls have an average water flow of 193 meters cubed per second. It is 100 meters wide and plummets 45 meters down into Jökulsárgljúfur canyon.

This canyon is in the northern part of the greater Vatnajökull National Park, the largest national park in the country, thus Dettifoss is well protected.

Also within this canyon, fed by the river of Jökulsá á Fjöllum, are two more impressive waterfalls, Selfoss (not to be mistaken with the southern town of the same name) and Hafragilsfoss.

Numerous hooded cranes (Grus monacha) were flying in Izumi, Japan.

The hooded crane and white-naped crane are vulnerable species. They are well protected in their major wintering site, Izumi. A large area of rice field is offered to cranes during winter. People cannot enter the rice field, except for those engaged in protection of cranes. Cranes eat plants and small animals in the area. In the morning supplementary foods are provided partly to reduce damage of plants outside the designated area. Upon departure to northern breeding region, fishes are provided, wishing their safe travel.

In the sailing ship era, Brekkestø was a port for ships that had to wait for good sailing winds or sought shelter for inclement weather. In a description of the Norwegian coast from the 1790s, the port of Brekkestø on the south side of Justøya is mentioned. It is really a double port, and there are two races leading into them. In the eastern course you reach the inner harbor, where small frigates can enter. The inner harbor is 3 to 4 feet deep, the ships are pig-bottomed and the harbor is well protected from weather and waves. At the outer harbor there is a deep, sandy bottom 13-17 feet. Large frigates will fit in this port. Good moorings to land are important in southeast winds.

Brekkestø has a well-preserved building environment with wooden architecture from the sailboat era, including the protected Tollboden.

Kamnik, Slovenia. Well protected against hail which can be quite frequent so close to the mountains. There are even some people picking apples (middle left of the photo).

Voulolimni is located 70km southwest of Chania (about 500m northwest of Chrysoskalitissa monastery)

in Crete - Greece .

It is actually a small crater, surrounded by rocks, forming a small sea lake. Voulolimni is not actually a beach, but the rocky "pool" for the residents of village Chrysoskalitissa.

The small salt lake is very well protected by strong winds that blow in the area and there is only a small opening connecting that to the open sea. Thus, it serves as a natural harbor for small boats. The water is very calm and has greenish hues, that make it look marvellous to most swimmers.

The good harbor conditions are largely natural and the warm and easily accessible port conditions In the area combined with the proximity to the Skagerrak, the harbor, first at Flekkerøy, made it important already more than 500 years ago further into the fjord. The harbor is very well protected from wind and normally has tidal differences of +/- 10 cm.

The first fortifications were built in the 16th century and the naval station for the Danish / Norwegian galley fleet at Lagmannsholmen In the western harbor from the 1680s until 1750.

In 1804 a quarantine station was established for shipping in Denmark, Norway and Holstein in the harbor. It was operated until 1814. From 1827, Kristiansand was the last port of call for the Christiania mail route with the DS "Constitution" along the coast via Fredriksvern. In 1872 a ferry connection was established between Kristiansand and Fredrikshavn with DS "Frithjof".

From 1897 the defense had a war station and a marina in Marvika. In recent years, this facility has been used as a base for deep-water testing of submarines by Howaldtswerke-Deutsche Werft (HDW). wikipedia

A narrow gap in the cliffs allows entry into this small, well protected harbour. It has changed over the years, but it is still beautiful, and attracts a lot of tourists (me included).

Tucson Mountains. This one was watching over her nest which is in the middle of this cactus and well-protected with cholla spines. Not sure how they avoid getting poked.

This started with the female (left) begging the male for food and I think it has to do with keeping her strength up while she is sitting on her eggs and later as she helps feed the young ones the nest is deep within this Blackthorn bush and so is well protected by the wicked thorns .

A small colony of Bee-eaters has settled near the abandoned village of Otero.

Thanks to the protection afforded by the Villafàfila Nature Park,

the birds are well protected by fences that forbid anyone to approach them.

So we were delighted to see a few of them perch on the side of the road and let ourselves be photographed from the car.

Why spend all that money on security alarm systems to keep your house safe from intruders, when you can just grow vines.

I know some of you will say, “just get a dog to protect your property.” Which is on the whole a decent suggestion, but what about Chihuahuas or other small dogs, who could be stepped on. Also, there are those really friendly dogs, who would lick an intruder and sit for a treat with tail wagging.

No! I am afraid the best solution is vines or briars.

How many robbers have the wherewithal to carry a chainsaw with them. They would just pass you by.

This house is so well protected that they can leave their door open a crack without fear of a break in.

This is how it starts in nature. At some point, something big and strong came into being.

So fängt es an in der Natur. Irgendwann ist was grosses und kräftiges entstanden.

My experience, This is a well-protected area, Not open, or still under construction. This is a private forest play area, The fence is densely arranged with bamboo. The camera lens cannot cross the fence. later, I found the location, There is a bamboo above the fence that is vandalized.😂 For photography enthusiasts, This kind of scenery is very tempting !
