Winter has its downside, but sunsets are an exception. They tend to be stronger, redder and longer lasting. Clouds seem capable of an infinite variety of shapes, textures and colors.

May 1 is "La Fête du Muguet", and the tradition is to give the ones you love a sprig of Muguet, for good luck and to celebrate the arrival of Spring.

The first day of May in France and other European countries is La Fête du Travail (Labour Day). It is a holiday.

Lily of the Valley,

French: Muguet, lis des vallées

Dutch: Lelietjes van Dalen

Flemish: meiklokjes (Little BELLS OF MAY)

The flower is also known as 'Our Lady's tears' since, according to Christian legend; the lily of the valley came into being from Eve's tears after she was driven with Adam from the Garden of Eden. According to another legend, Lilies of the Valley also sprang from the blood of Saint Leonard of Noblac during his battles with a dragon.

Other names include May Lily, May Bells, Lily Constancy, Ladder-to-Heaven, Male Lily and Muguet.

Lily of the Valley became the national flower of Finland in 1967. The Norwegian municipality Lunner has a Lily of the Valley in its coat-of-arms.

It is also the official flowers of many fraternities and sororities.

... an erect low-growing perennial herb of the genus Convallaria (C. majalis) that has two large oblong lanceolate leaves and a raceme of fragrant nodding bell-shaped white flowers.

All parts of the Lily of the Valley are highly poisonous.

Tessi is settled in our new home - an older house we're staying in for nearly two years, until our new house by the sea is finished.

We look forward to welcome guests from where we used to live, when we soon are finished organizing things inside.

My album of Tessi and her friends here.

Have a great week ahead dear friends :-)

We finally got our new gate and sign at our groups den, much more welcoming than the old rusty gate that was there for too many years before. Anyway, being brand new, I was keen to square this nice new circle.....

Location: International Dark Sky Park - De Boschplaat, Terschelling (The Netherlands)

Shot @ 20mm - f2.8 - 15sec - ISO 8000

I heard a few times about the beautiful islands in the North-Sea at the North top-side of my nation, but had never before visited any of them.

That is, ..until after I heard about one of those islands nature reserves becoming our nations very first International Dark Sky Park, De Boschplaat on the Island of Terschelling.

So, in early September when the last days of the summer Milky Way slowly came to a close, and the weather turned into a couple of very hot days with clear skies, I decided to finally go and visit what was said to be one of our nation’s most beloved and treasured islands..

Arriving by ferry, I rented a bike on the island, and with my gear strapped to my back, took a nice long bike ride through the island’s beautiful landscape.

From De Wadden Sea, the Forests, Dunes, De Boschplaat,

I to...fell in love with the island..

Eventually, I ended up at the huge stretched-out beach enjoying the fresh air and cool breeze of the North-Sea.

As the sun began to set and the Fog started to roll in at De Boschplaat.. I set up my gear at the location I would spend my night under the stars..

And with the first ones appearing in the sky, I was set and ready, for what would become the best Milky-Way experience I’ve “yet” had on home soil in the Netherlands..

Yeahhhhhhhh they have arrived!!!!!! I'm really loving them! They look so bright & happy next to my normal haired girls! ;0) I keep smiling when I walk by the scraproom & see them. ;0)

I've decided to name Trixie Sorbet & Honey Hopper. Named then after the Trixie Belden books that I loved when I was a kid. And when I see that pink hair I think of yummy sorbet ice cream.

I'll end up calling them Trixie & Hopper. ;0) I'm happy!

And those ADORABLE headbands are from my new Flickr friend StacieM who has opened a shop where she sells THEM! LOVE LOVE LOVE!!!! www.etsy.com/shop/BlytheBlu?ga_search_query=Blytheblu&...

Two scenes are being played out in this shot of Jaipur Junction taken in 2016. On the left are the last remnants of metre-gauge operations in the region, with Alco YDM-4 unit 6637 readying to depart with the 4.00pm passenger to Sikar Junction (train 02089), some 107 km away.

Everything to the right of the YDM-4 is broad-gauge, with WDM-2A unit 16869 in shot working the 4:15pm Daily Superfast service to Bikaner Junction (train 12468).

Sadly, this isolated pocket of MG has since closed with the route currently undergoing conversion to broad gauge.

Welcome to Salvation Mountain

Safety Harbor, FL, Early Morning, Sunrise at city marina

Got back from Austria with the usual camera load of snaps :)

This shot came after a day of grey cloud and torrential downpours. It felt like we were in a cloud. The lake looked like a stormy sea when we first drove past it. On the way back I could hardly bare to break the silence and press the shutter button when I came across this scene...

Tech spec: HDR from two exposures, one stop apart, one exposure with a 0.9ND hard grad to expose for the sky, and a circular polariser to remove the reflection in the bottom of the scene, all manually blended in post.
