...what else ? South Rim.

Really old stuff, from the mid 1990s, Contax 139, Planar 50mm, Ektachrome 100 prof. or so.

Anyone expects to use DSLR images 10+ years after capture? ;-)

I must to go back there!

Scenes from nearby quarry, in Sv. Jana. It was dull and cloudy Sunday, so the photos turned out the same.

Taken with Pentax MZ-S camera and Sears 135mm F2.8 lens, on Fuji Neopan Acros 100 ASA film. Exposure 1/180s, ƒ/4.5, matrix metering, program mode. Gotta love cameras that write EXIF-equivalent data on film borders. :)

Developed with Fomadon R09 developer, 1+50 dilution at 11 min. Fixed with Fomafix, scanned with CanoScan 8800F and VueScan 9.

Yeah, I have problems with Newton's rings and dusty negatives, I know. :/

Bleach Bypass with FILM (not digital filters).

The Kokomo, in daytime.

This was pretty bland until I lit up the shadows and allowed the facade to be faded. I was able to get the colors on the other doorway at the same time.

You can see the glow of the pop machine on the far wall.

Too bad the lens sucks or we could get some people details as well...

Eastman Kodak expired Vision2 250D. Shot at 250 with Bessa T and toy M mount body cap pancake lens with fixed focus F/10. There seems to be a sweet spot around 10 to 20 feet with the lens. "pre developed" (still looking for a good term). in PA Rodinal 1:100 for 10 minutes and then cross processed in Kodak Flexicolor C-41 for 3:15 minutes, skip bleach / bypass 2 minute wash, then fixed for 8 minutes continuous agitation in Ilford Hypam rapid fix 1:4.

The raw scan comes up very bronze with some rich earth tone colors, definitely not monochrome. Obviously, the color can be rebalanced in post processing to bring back the original, or better colors. This is fairly easy to do in photoshop and I learned to just let VueScan do it's job and adjust the raw scan image.

The images may be a bit flatter but I find a VERY wide range of saturation to play with when a normal color negative would tip over of blow out. There are some unique "looks" to be had here. The shadows don't bunch up so quickly and it is possible that running it through a B&W developer automatically pushes the film a bit. I usually shoot this film at 125 or so and here it is doing well at 250 for a 20 odd year old roll. My other posts of just bleach bypass have a thinner look and the shadows are lost pretty quick. More to explore.

APS film isn't that bad. Yeah, this one is pretty grainy, but this is a 400 ASA film, and at least 6 years expired. So, not bad at all.

This PE40mm lens is the 35-mm equivalent to a 24mm, so al really wide, wideangle lens. The great thing is, that is has almost NO distortion! And sharp and clear right into the corners... One of the advantages of medium format photography.

Hadn't come around to scanning and processing the images yet...

This is taken on the Chicago Riverwalk, about 200 ft South and down a flight of granite steps from my image "Skyline Bridge". The rotting wood and chains drew me in, but I stayed for the wealth of fine details...check out the wood grain and all the spiders in their webs!

Mamiya RZ67 Pro II & Sekor 110mm f/2.8 lens at 1/90th f/11 on Ilford FP4+ rated at EI80

Developed in HC110 dilution B (1+31), for 7:30 ("normal" for FP4+ @ 125 is 9:00) to offset the added exposure. Negative came out a touch thin, but this is a new film and new developer to me so I'll need to run tests.

Scanned on Epson V600 with Vuescan Professional, some minor adjustments to contrast and "clarity" along with some capture and output sharpening in Lightroom 5 and Photoshop CS5, but still very true to the contact print on grade 3.

9/21/1996. With the successful turning of the engine, 614 is now pointed back to Hoboken and ready to pull it's train home. Ross Rowland at the engineer's position talks with the crew and the road boss.

C&O 614 is a beautiful engine, and was freshly restored when these trips were being run. It was quite a sight to see. It's mechanical complexity was a delight to see in action. This was the first of many excursion runs, which would continue for the next two years during Fall and Summer.

Fall Colors 2015

Shot on 10/31/2015 on a rainy day as I was driving around. I saw this lovely little park and happened to have my camera with me and have wanted to get some nice shots of the fall colors on film. Scanned on my Epson V600 with VueScan Professional, and EXIF edited to show the actual exposure information and camera model. The four shots are a series meant to be viewed as a group.
