Its been up...but i want to post it. So bam. Volume thrasher build in your face.
Im going to go ahead and say a much better design than the cutter. Pretty good looking and meeting the demands of riders with the tire clearance and top tube length...and the mid bb. Theres a few bikes out now that you can grab mid or spanish bottom brackets...but itll be interesting to see what that means for the evolution of the sport. Running almost strictly BMX/MTB components with no options otherwise. A lot of us are running them anyway but if this is the way things go, itll be hard for some to make that initial jump when buying a trick frame.
Reading up on the Trick Track...it seems john sparked a conversation about this very thing.
Here is my second block for my Quilting Bee for month June. Her theme is butterflies and to add a little low volume in the mix. I loved having the creative freedom to design the blocks.

the VOLUME project

Have libraries become obsolete in the digital age? Can we conceive public libraries as something other than a collection of books? When does a library begin and end?
Started as a long-term research project in November 2013, the VOLUME project investigates the potential of libraries as sites for artistic creation and production of knowledge, as well as for the formation of critique and dialogue. For nine days, international and local artists, theorists, curators and librarians will engage the public library as a space and a concept, through a series of performances, ad-hoc interventions, talks, literary writings and installations. Events will take place at 98weeks Project Space, Assabil Libraries, and in public spaces around Beirut.
The multiplicity of interventions composing the VOLUME project mirrors the complexities that the library embodies, both as a physical and theoretical subject. Newly commissioned artworks and a program of talks will be reflecting the many facets of the library as a public space, political agent, vehicle for memory, conceptual entity, cataloguing system, fantasy and knowledge generator. What is a library after all? Something so vivid and yet so elusive. Something physical and yet conceptual. Container and content. A singular encompassing multitude. Potentially infinite and intrinsically unfinished.
The library symbolizes the human ambition to amass and preserve all the knowledge of the world, the utopia of a totality at hand. In its physical manifestation, it displays the modern rationality trying to tame the episteme under categories, inventories or parameters of acceptance. It raises questions related to the accessibility to knowledge and how libraries’ collections reflect political choices. The library feeds the desire to know, but also the desire to forget.
VOLUME’s upcoming session in September will present an occasion to share and discuss with the public these and further issues, in what we hope will be an intensive and thought-provoking series of events and encounters. A live publishing platform called “Vologue” will accompany the project. Two writers/witnesses, Roger Outa and Lina Mounzer, will react to talks, events, and performances. Their accounts will appear daily in printed form and on VOLUME’s website.
All the interventions and their ramifications will eventually coalesce into a single publication — the VOLUME — which will be donated to Beirut’s public libraries. VOLUME is therefore the artists’ measuring device and connector. It is part and whole. It is inside the library. It is the library. It is what the library is missing.

Part of Azzedine Alaïa: The Couturier

The mastery with which Azzedine Alaïa invented and deployed stretch fabrics earned him the nickname the ‘King of Cling’ in the 1980s. But Alaïa’s interest in the hyper-fitted form was by no means single-minded – it expressed a fascination with exploring volume, creating sculptural shapes that could redefine a woman’s body. This idea is pushed to the extreme in these voluminous ballgowns.
These styles also underline Alaïa’s life-long fascination with fashion history and his respect for the past. These pieces re-examine the grandeur of costume in the 17th and 18th centuries, re-imagining their shapes and effects through contemporary technologies and attitudes to the body. They are not a revival, but a re-evaluation. Alaïa’s volume is achieved through intricate technique.
Echoing the work of Cristóbal Balenciaga, he seldom used internal structures such as boning or petticoats, instead exploring the qualities of the fabrics themselves to achieve deceptively complex shapes that float weightlessly around the body.
Conceived and co-curated with Monsieur Alaïa before his death in November 2017, the exhibition charts his incredible journey from sculptor to couturier, his nonconformist nature and his infectious energy for fashion, friendship and the female body.
Unlike many of his contemporaries, Alaïa personally constructed each garment by hand and refused to bow to the pressures of fashion week deadlines, instead working to his own schedule. His collaborative approach earned him an esteemed client list, including Greta Garbo, Grace Jones, Michelle Obama and Rihanna.
Rather than a retrospective, the show interlaces stories of his life and career alongside personally selected garments, ranging from the rare to the iconic and spanning the early 1980s to his most recent collection in 2017.

This stunning exterior of stone and siding elegantly blends with a metal roof and twin columns for an exciting facade in this Old World-flavored house plan. The interior mirrors the lavish exterior in this one-story home plan. Nothing short of grandiose, the master suite features a private sitting area, rear porch, tray ceiling and two walk-in closets. Ceiling treatments in this house plan highlight the sunroom, great room and dining room, granting volume and architectural detail to each. The secondary bedrooms are positioned for privacy and share a full bath. A generous utility room provides plenty of space for laundry and household chores.
