A busy start on the year at work, and not much time to be on flickr. And it's going to be another busy weekend, but some day I hope to cath up with you all.
Wish you all a Happy Weekend
I was trying out the extension tube. Some photos came out ok but majority pretty awkward. Nothing beats the real macro lens
Well the combover didn't work so well lol. I tried brushing my hair over to give a little more volume on the front and while it kind of looked ok in the flesh it doesn't look good in photos .
Have to experiment with these things don't we?
Back home now and thinking about what to wear later. i can't decide as the weather is warm and muggy yet cloudy so this evening could be the same.
Glow 2011 Light Festival in Eindhoven.
Volume, by United Visual Artists (UVA).
Volume consists of many columns of light, each equipped with a speaker. Together, the columns turn into an environment that looks a bit like a futuristic forest. The installation uses a camera system to track everyone that moves through it and converts these movements into a specific sound and light pattern. Everyone pulls his own trail through the installation and together the visitors create a totally unique audiovisual web.
I'm scheming with Jenny (krousegirl2) to make a generous throw-sized quilt for a Sandy Hook student. Our overall theme is "low volume." I may have gone a little bit overboard with the bright colors in choosing some of the prints, but I think Jenny's beautiful blocks will even the score. These blocks of strips will be sewn together in the rail fence pattern.
I plan to straight line quilt this on my machine. I did just recently reach out to a local long arm studio to see if they might consider volunteering to quilt it, but I don't know if they will. It is a busy time for people in their business. I just thought it would be nice to try and see if a longarmer would get involved because it would make it that much more beautiful.
I mentioned a couple of crafty ways to help the community in Newtown on my blog today. Link here:
applecyder.wordpress.com/2012/12/19/crafty-ways-to-help/ (I love the snowflake idea! So simple but I bet it is going to be beautiful!!! I hope they get overwhelmed with packages of snowflakes from people around the world.)
Thought I'd put this up simply because I was listening to EVH earlier today. Then I got back into Christmas tunes.
I was obsessed with Barbie’s ‘Get Ups ‘N Go’ fashion range back in the mid-late 70’s when I was a kid and had several of them, when I could find them! But there were two I sorely wanted but never found…. Until now! Quick Curl Deluxe P.J. is sporting #7242, ‘A Busy Girl's Ready-Set-Go Clothes’ from 1975, which was described in Sarah Sink Eames’ "Barbie® Doll Fashion: Volume 3" as: ‘bright crayon color mixers included striped tricot halter, long scarf, and knee socks.’ What I always loved about this outfit is that I remember many women wearing a very similar look to this back then, (though perhaps not in bright yellow! LOL) but certainly it would be a denim jacket and skirt with that long, colourful rugby striped scarf and striped knee socks… I accessorized them with shiny patent dark blue wedges that remind me of the patent clogs women used to wear with this look back then. (Stay tuned for another of my fave Mid 70’s gals wearing this, along with a co-ordinating Best Buy outfit from the time with a rare variation top that uses the same stripes!) Quick Curl Deluxe Barbie is wearing another long-wanted look: - #9741 ‘Star of the Show in Golden Glow’ from 1977. I remember drooling over this one in the 1976/77 booklet, also shown on this exact same type of Quick Curl Barbie. (My one was one of the very first Barbies I bought NRFB mint when I started collecting seriously as an adult – for only $75!!!! I really wanted her as a kid and did see ONE available at my favourite suburban Mom & Pop store, but alas, she was gone by the time I went back for her, and it must have been at the end of her run as I never saw another one in the toy stores after that…. This P.J. followed soon after I got her, so they have both been in my collection from the very beginning.) This is an outfit I have also been searching for ever since I starting collecting, and the skirt, purse and shawl were minty, but like many others today, the gold metallic top had faded and lost its shine, so my BFF Dean recreated the top for me in some gold brocade he already had, which has given it a new lease on life! They have joined Superstar Barbie and Superstar Ken in their matching trenchcoats and some others in the Fashion Plaza!
