Athabasca glacier.
In the past 125 years this glacier has lost over half of its volume and every year its depth decreases by 5 meters. The glacier is approximately 6 km (3.7 mi) long and is measured to be between 90–300 metres (300–980 ft) thick.

Liverpool Cathedral is the Church of England Cathedral of the Diocese of Liverpool, built on St James's Mount in Liverpool and is the seat of the Bishop of Liverpool.
The cathedral is based on a design by Giles Gilbert Scott. The total external length of the building, including the Lady Chapel (dedicated to the Blessed Virgin), is 189 m making it the longest cathedral in the world; its internal length is 150 m. In terms of overall volume, Liverpool Cathedral ranks as the fifth-largest cathedral in the world and contests with the incomplete Cathedral of Saint John the Divine in New York City for the title of largest Anglican church building. With a height of 101 m it is also one of the world's tallest non-spired church buildings and the third-tallest structure in the city of Liverpool. Another northbound Wisconsin Central freight rolls by us at Oshkosh, while we wait for enough of a gap to get out of the siding and into the industrial park lead to switch waiting customers. This local was a challenge to say the least, as the volume of freight traffic between Shops Yard and Neenah was usually quite high, making it a challenge to get the needed mainline time for servicing customers.

I needed to warm up for the night shot. To get into the comfort zone for me a natural start was to go for Black & White pictures. This trip's theme was long exposures with water. The hydro-station at Boen would be a good starting point. You can really feel the change in air pressure as you climb along the massive waterfall. You're really met with a huge roaring volume of water.
Khone Phapheng Waterfalls of the Mekong located just to the north of the Laos - Cambodia border. A supplement to the "Trip to Vietnam, Laos & Cambodia 2024."
It may be a rapid rather than a waterfall, but the volume of water was overwhelming. It is one of the waterfalls located at the southern end of Si Phan Dong.

A quietness akin to a heavy fog hovers over an old barn that once ricocheted the sounds of a farmer's family doing chores and the insistent appeals of the livestock hoping for their evening meals. Now the major sounds are limited to the cooing of pigeons on the roof and the occasional flashing noise of a car passing by on a country gravel road.

This was one of those "stop the car and run for your life" moments … ended up with pretty dirty boots, but … :)
Long story... But these cops turned out to be some of the nicest guys in uniforms I've met in a long time. They were really interested with the ability to ride backwards so we let them have a try. They got half a backwards circle and a few track stands. Not bad for the first ride on a fixed gear. I've been having a rough year with cops so it was a nice year end reminder that not all cops are dicks. These guys were super nice. And down with fixed gears!

The numbers for this afternoons sunset had been good since Monday ... and didn't change.
Got to the harbour with a half hour to spare and hoped that things might pan out for those old slipway rails that I'm so fond of.

The volume of 1.3 million Earths could fit into the Sun. Even keeping these Earths in their whole spherical form, you could still fit 960,000 into the Sun.
For further comparison, some of the Sun's larger solar flares burst outward in excess of 24 Earths in diameter.

The largest man-made mound in Europe, mysterious Silbury Hill compares in height and volume to the roughly contemporary Egyptian pyramids. Probably completed in around 2400 BC, it apparently contains no burial. Though clearly important in itself, its purpose and significance remain unknown.
Silbury Hill is part of the Avebury World Heritage Site, and a Site of Special Scientific Interest.
