Indian Roller has two distinct subspecies. This particular bird is from the subspecies Southern Roller, which is identified by the prominent hook on the tip of its bill.

Baya Weaver bird in non-breeding plumage near Ludhiana, Punjab.

During non-breeding season, these birds seem sexually-monomorphic, that is, the male and female seem alike.

Black Kite birds competing for prey in the dried up bed of Sirhind Canal network near Ludhiana, Punjab.

This winter, water flow was stopped in the canal network for around a month, to carry out highway expansion and other maintenance work. While preys like these kites initially made a killing foraging in the almost dried canal-bed, the lack of water led to a visible fall in the arrival of migratory birds in the canal network this year.

A child on top of a slide in the children's activity area of Club Mahindra White Meadows near Manali, Himachal.

With the male's attention on our intrusion, the female sprayed urine to continue the mating game. The urine of this estrous (in heat) female contains scent, which is an important method of communicating her readiness to mate.

A Nepalese dancer performing in a traditional group dance at BOBMC-RM in Pokhara, Nepal.

The magenta scarf and pompom were standout elements in the traditional attire of these dancers, from Gurung community if I remember correctly. Their dance moves were slow and gracefully unhurried.

I didn't have my superzoom lens to get a close up of this bird. But such a beautiful bird deserved a click irrespective of the equipment at hand.
