I worked on this old family photo for the first week first assignment in Susan Tuttle's Visual Poetry workshop.
Visual Poetry W4/P2
I took a picture of my husband earlier this year as he stood in the cold wind outside of my booth at Art in the Park in Orange, Texas. Behind him is one of their many beautiful historic homes located around Stark Park where Art in the Park is held.
The layer I added is one of the many sunset pictures I have taken at our wild game lease in South Texas.
Las gentes ya tienen el alma cuadrada,
ideas en fila
y ángulo en la espalda.
(Even people now have square souls,
Ideas in file, I declare,
And on their shoulders, angles wear.)

I designed this piece yesterday using a vintage rhinestone piece, crystal quartz nuggets, Swarovski crystal rondells and a vintage sterling silver bracelet for today's sale. It sold!
Ceramic piece and photo are mine, the poem is John M Bennett's, and Jim Leftwich painted the cloth and did further digital manipulation of my photo.

This issue featuring a large compendium of concrete and visual poetry with contributions by Ian Hamilton Finlay, Vagn Steen, Emmett Williams, Peter Greenham, Ladislaw Novák, Josef Hirsal, Bohumila Grögerová, John J. Sharkey, Dom Sylvester Houédard, Yüksel Pazarkaya, Eugen Gomringer, Gerhard Rühm, Ernst Jandl, Åke Hodell, Leif Nylén, José Lino Grünewald, Franz Mon, Timm Ulrichs, Mathias Goeritz, Carlo Belloli, Augusto de Campos, Haroldo de Campos, Décio Pignatari, Reinhard Döhl, Edgard Braga, Pedro Xisto, Jørgen Nash, Diter Rot, Edwin Morgan, and Pierre Garnier among others. Each issue has the same German quote by Ernst Bloch on the back cover which translates into ‘There are also red secrets in the world, actually, only red.’
Very good with light wear along cover margins, including rubbing and darkening to back cover, and trace amounts of age toning throughout.
Every shot is a small poem without words. Here, I capture fleeting moments that speak louder than any language.

The old Chain of Rocks Bridge on old Route 66. The bridge spans the Mississippi from Illinois to Missouri and is part of a network of bike trails now. I used my own texture which was a close-up of rust & peeling paint from a girder on the same bridge.
here's a link about the bridge:
Ceramic piece and photo are mine, the poem is John M Bennett's, and Jim Leftwich painted the cloth and did further digital manipulation of my photo.
I altered this photograph using techniques from a number of week's lessons in Susan Tuttle's Visual Poetry.
