Tea-toned cyanotype.

I’m thinking now about the notion of collective grief, something that has gripped our world in recent weeks. Grief and I are certainly not strangers. Profound loss has touched my life a few times, and I’m still grieving my hysterectomy. My folded wings, however, are starting to twitch again. The urge to soar is innate in us all. As my force is returning, I thought I would offer this to those who might be in need...

Writer Glennon Doyle talks about the need to hold vigil for those enshrouded in the cocoon of grief. This poem speaks to that.

Archive

Within each of us there is an archive of loss,

A library of longing,

Volumes of unspoken wishes,

Ethereal as ribbons of mist on a November morning,

Guarded in the veiled chambers of the heart,

Laced into the hens of our skirts,

Tucked just behind our eyelids,

Rest now, dear one,

On this bed of crimson roses,

I will sing to you if butterflies on the wing,

Of wildflowers and shooting stars,

Of summer rains and falling leaves,

I will fashion you a crown of daisies and bluebells,

And a boutonnière of rosemary for remembrance,

Though it hurts, we must never forget,

I will burn the sage,

I will fix a cup of tea,

I will hold the candle,

Steadfast, unfailing,

Whenever you are ready,

Let me be the light

To help guide you back home.

From a photowalk with a small group of other photographers on a wet Saturday afternoon on the Venø island near Struer, Denmark - June 15, 2019.

On a nice little evening walk I found this surreal spot with the cracked mud. It has been a very hot day in July, when temperatures were up to 34 °C / 93 °F. The sky was almost empty, so I tried to retain the highlights using ETTR and recovering the shadows. BTW, this wass done out of a single JPG.

I feel like writing "Visual Poetry" on St. Nickolas' pure, white walls.

It's actually Shape or Concrete poetry,an arrangement of linguistic elements in which the typographical effect is more important in conveying meaning than verbal significance.

Note the Shape of the Poem,Open the Wings of your Heart and ignore the dates ...

"Easter Wings"

Lord, who createdst man in wealth and store,

Though foolishly he lost the same,

Decaying more and more,

Till he became

Most poore:

With thee

O let me rise

As larks, harmoniously,

And sing this day thy victories:

Then shall the fall further the flight in me.

My tender age in sorrow did beginne

And still with sicknesses and shame.

Thou didst so punish sinne,

That I became

Most thinne.

With thee

Let me combine,

And feel thy victorie:

For, if I imp my wing on thine,

Affliction shall advance the flight in me.

When you stop doubting every step you take,

something inside you grows quiet.

You don’t need to know everything.

It’s enough to trust that you can stand

in whatever comes your way.

⁛ And little by little, that holds you

Soft, dreamy daffodils emerge from the darkness, their pale petals glowing like quiet lanterns against a deep, shadowed background. Hints of golden yellow blur gently into the surrounding black, creating a painterly, ethereal mood. The shallow focus and muted light give the flowers a sense of stillness and calm—delicate, intimate, and slightly surreal, as if caught in a moment between night and memory.
