366/2020 - 2020 Vision ~ 166/366
Meeting up with family for only the second time since February was just wonderful, even if we had to maintain our social distance from each other. We walked in the sunshine in the hills by this reservoir.
I so look forward to the day when we can give them all a hug. Especially the grandchildren!
Stay safe and well everyone.
Thank you to everyone who pauses long enough to look at my photo. Any comments or Faves are very much appreciated
This view is roughly to the east and shown a good portion of Abraham Lake the hydroelectric dam reservoir on the North Saskatchewan River in western Alberta. At this time of the year, late April, the reservoir is roughly at its lower point since it has been drained over the winter for electric power production. The dam itself is further downstream to the left of the image. The highway is the David Thompson Highway my favorite route into the Rocky mountains. The view is from Vision Quest Ridge.
I last visited here in 2010 and at that time panorama stitching software was unknown to me, the production of this image is more due to luck than good management. For example, the zoom lens was set to a different focal length for the tow images that have been assembled. I screamed at the computer screen, kicked the tower and the software did the rest.
This comic series was published 23 years ago by DC Comics' Vertigo line, and little did they know how much vertigo the actual 2020 would have. The chaos they predicted was conservative.
Self-timer shot taken about three hundred meters below the Mont Thabor summit (3.178 m), southwest direction, where it's full of peaks.
A shot like this is motivated exclusively by the extreme weather conditions.
The fog turned this moment as something entirely surreal.
Actually there are mountains behind that peak... just vanished, lost in the silence of the fog.
I usually love this kind of atmosphere :-) I just wished to don't see my tripod and camera flying away due to the strong wind!

The matte painting (which can be translated with painting backgrounds) is a technique used mainly in film used to allow the representation of landscapes or places otherwise too costly or impossible to reconstruct or reach directly.

Vision is something that I think is fundamental to artists whether it is within the music industry, fine art photography.
It allows us to be unique and to express what is within ourselves, some say what is part of us. Without vision, we would all be the same. That is what is truly beautiful within art. We are allowed to be our genuine selves and express our emotions as we feel them
Phil Tramdeck, a great man with unique vision. He loves this couch and fought hard to preserve it, I will miss him.
