Inspired by the image "Spring Vision" witch I recently uploaded, I paint this picture. Mixed Techniques on canvas 50 x 70 cm

Ogni città riceve la sua forma dal deserto a cui si oppone.

Thank you for your visit and comments!.

Have a wonderful weekend

If I ventured in the slipstream

Between the viaducts of your dream

Where immobile steel rims crack

And the ditch in the back roads stop

Could you find me?

would you kiss-a my eyes?

Merci et à bientôt.

This is an in camera multiple exposure (three images). I took it at the Lonsdale Quay from the end of the pier looking at the city. In the foreground is a bench at the left, and in the centre, a three step stand for people to sit on when they have entertainment on the pier. I could have shot from in front of them, but thought that they added some interest. Zoom in and take a look - there are a lot of interesting things to see :)

I know that multiple exposures aren't everyone's cup of tea, but I love to do them :)

Source

National Park

Stoneham-et-Tewkesbury (Québec)

Parc national de la Jacques-Cartier is host to one of the most beautiful glacial valleys in Québec, the spectacular Vallée de la Jacques-Cartier. The Jacques Cartier River, calm in some places and turbulent in others, has sliced a 550-metre-deep channel into the plateau. A coniferous forest dominates the high plateaus, and deciduous trees people the deep valleys. Here, nature is both inspiring and serene. Source

St Giles' Cathedral - Edinburgh

St Giles' Cathedral, also known as the High Kirk of Edinburgh, is the principal place of worship of the Church of Scotland in Edinburgh. Its distinctive crown steeple is a prominent feature of the city skyline, at about a third of the way down the Royal Mile which runs from the Castle to Holyrood Palace. The church has been one of Edinburgh's religious focal points for approximately 900 years. The present church dates from the late 14th century, though it was extensively restored in the 19th century, and is protected as a category A listed building.

Today it is sometimes regarded as the "Mother Church of Presbyterianism". The cathedral is dedicated to Saint Giles, who is the patron saint of Edinburgh, as well as of cripples and lepers, and was a very popular saint in the Middle Ages. It is the Church of Scotland parish church for part of Edinburgh's Old Town.

The mountain range known around here as the Crazies is prominent in this image (All those very, very tiny black dots scattered around the hills in the mid-ground are black angus cattle grazing on prime Montana range land…). The highest point in this range is Crazy Peak at over 11,000 feet — these mountains dominate their surroundings and are plainly visible just north of Interstate 90 as you travel between Billings and Bozeman.

The name Crazy Mountains is said to be a shortened form of the name "Crazy Woman Mountains" given them, in recognition of their original Crow native american name, after a woman who went insane and lived in them after her family was killed in the westward settlement movement.

The Crow people called the mountains Awaxaawapìa Pìa, roughly translated as "Ominous Mountains", or even rougher and less accurately, "Crazy Mountains". They were famous to the Crow people for having metaphysical powers and being unpredictable—a place often used for vision quests...

I walk slowly through my city

Eratosthenes was a polymathic Greek scientist and chief librarian of the famous Library of Alexandria. He is best remembered as the first person to accurately measure the circumference of the earth, and proving it was round (spherical). www.abc.net.au/news/2021-09-05/eratosthenes-measured-circ...

It is a great modern myth that the ancients believed the world was flat. In fact there are more "flat earthers" on the internet these days than ever existed in ancient times, and that's the truth. The great Pythagoras vigorously argued the earth was round because it was an obvious fact of observation. You can't look at the sun without being blinded, but the ancient Egyptians always pictured it as round. We can see that the moon in this picture is indeed perfectly round. And for the ancient Greek geometry the circle meant perfection.

So in honour of Eratosthenes vision I have exaggerated the natural curvature of the earth in this picture. And the moon, which though a smaller heavenly body, remains a mirror image of what the earth is like - a perfect circle.

Now here I go again, I see the crystal visions,

I keep those visions to myself,

Dreams of loneliness,

Like a heartbeat, drives you mad

In the stillness of remembering, what you had,

And what you lost and what you had and what you lost....

Stevie Nicks "Dreams" 1976

Much has been lost indeed, even more clear on the dawning of a new day...

Glad I wasn't a mouse or a rabbit.
