There is a saying that says the grass in your neighbor's garden is always greener than the grass in your own. What this means is that we often desire things that we don't have (or can't own) at the moment and forget to appreciate what is around us.
So we long for the cool winter when the heat of summer weighs heavily on us. But on a cloudy winter day we dream of warm and sunny spring again.
This focus on what could (or should) be rather than what is does not just apply to the seasons and weather. Instead, we find this in almost all areas of life, which has both positive and negative effects.
Creative and strong visions of a goal that we want to achieve and move towards make us strong, allow us to overcome difficult challenges and give us the strength to keep going even in the face of setbacks.
At the same time, however, it is important to sufficiently appreciate our past, our current life and our environment. Because this is our home port, where we find the resources we need to make our dreams come true.
As in so many areas of life, it is crucial here to find a healthy balance and to continually readjust this relationship between sticking to the usual and the urge for change.
And so with this view of a meadow strewn with cuckoo flowers, I send you a vision of the coming spring and at the same time wish you to find much beauty in the winter days that still lie ahead of us.
And this wish is of course only meant symbolically and also refers to all areas in which it is important to hold on to what is known and to make new experiences.
Es gibt ein Sprichwort was besagt, dass das Gras in Nachbars Garten immer grüner ist, als das im eigenen. Damit ist gemeint, dass wir häufig Dinge begehren, die wir wir gerade nicht haben (oder besitzen können) und dabei vergessen das zu wertschätzen, was um uns herum ist.
So sehnen wir uns nach dem kühlen Winter, wenn die Hitze des Sommers schwer auf uns lastet. Doch an einem trüben Wintertag träumen wir schon wieder vom warmen und sonnigen Frühling.
Dieses Fokussieren auf das was sein könnte (oder sollte) und nicht auf das, was ist, bezieht sich nicht nur auf die Jahreszeiten und das Wetter. Stattdessen finden wir dies in nahezu allen Bereichen des Lebens, was sowohl positive als auch negative Auswirkungen hat.
Kreative und starke Visionen von einem Ziel, welches wir erreichen und auf das wir uns hinbewegen wollen, macht uns stark, lässt uns auch schwierige Herausforderungen meistern und gibt uns die Kraft auch bei Rückschlägen weiter zu machen.
Gleichzeitig gilt es jedoch unsere Vergangenheit, unser momentanes Leben und unser Umfeld ausreichend wertzuschätzen. Denn das ist unser Heimathafen, in dem wir die Ressourcen finden, die wir für die Verwirklichung unserer Träume benötigen.
Wie in so vielen Bereichen im Leben ist es auch hier entscheidend, eine gesunde Balance zu finden und dieses Verhältnis zwischen dem Festhalten am Gewohnten und dem Drang nach Veränderung immer wieder neu zu justieren.
Und so sende ich Euch mit diesem Blick auf eine mit Wiesenschaumkraut übersähte Wiese eine Vision vom kommenden Frühling und wünsche Euch gleichzeitig viel Schönheit in den Wintertagen zu findet, die noch vor uns liegen.
Und auch dieser Wunsch ist natürlich nur sinnbildlich gemeint und bezieht sich ebenfalls auf alle Bereiche in denen es gilt an Bekanntem fest zu halten und neues zu Erfahren.

Bank of England, Manchester Branch (centre image, ground level)
The cotton industry was a major source of business for local banks and merchants around the start of the 19th century. Manchester’s importance as a commercial centre was recognised when the Bank of England established a branch in the town in 1826. Some 20 years later it moved into a suitably imposing new building, designed by one of the country’s leading architects, Charles Cockerell. The location was Upper King Street, almost directly opposite the old town hall. Manchester’s importance as a financial centre was further consolidated in 1836 when the Manchester Stock Exchange was opened in Exchange Street, in part to deal in the shares of the local joint-stock banking companies.
Cockerell’s Bank of England branch building (shown above) survives in King Street but it is no longer home to the bank, the latter having moved into new premises located at the junction of Portland Street and Charlotte Street in 1971.

Peinture murale "The Vision #2" par l’artiste italien Cosimo Cheone au 13 Rue des Victoires à Boulogne-sur-Mer.
Caiffa Cosimo alias Cosimo Cheone est un jeune artiste italien qui a développé un style unique où se mêle anamorphisme et photoréalisme. Avec lui, le street art déborde des murs devenus trop petits pour exprimer ses « mondes peuplés de bons géants » qui envahissent souvent les trottoirs et l’ensemble de l’espace urbain. Passionné de dessins et de peinture depuis son enfance, Caiffa Cosimo a grandi au milieu d’artistes qui lui ont transmis l’amour de l’art. C’est dès l’âge de 9 ans, tombant par hasard sur des jeunes peignant un mur à l’aérosol, que le jeune italien a trouvé sa voie et son moyen d’expression.
L'artiste utilise les trottoirs pour les intégrer dans ses peintures qui prennent presque un effet 3D. Utilisant le photo réalisme, Cheone reproduit ainsi ses sujets avec une réalité époustouflante. Il utilise soit de l'huile soit de l'acrylique selon son envie et son imagination
En voyant cette superbe réalisation, une façade de maison qui glisse vers le sol et se déforme, j’ai tout de suite pensé aux montres molles de Salvador Dali

Mural "The Vision #2" by Italian artist Cosimo Cheone at 13 Rue des Victoires in Boulogne-sur-Mer.
Caiffa Cosimo alias Cosimo Cheone is a young Italian artist who has developed a unique style that combines anamorphism and photorealism. With him, street art overflows walls that have become too small to express his "worlds populated by good giants" that often invade the sidewalks and the entire urban space. Passionate about drawing and painting since his childhood, Caiffa Cosimo grew up surrounded by artists who passed on his love of art. It was at the age of 9, falling by chance on young people painting a wall with aerosol, that the young Italian found his way and his means of expression.
The artist uses sidewalks to integrate them into his paintings which almost take on a 3D effect. Using photo realism, Cheone reproduces his subjects with breathtaking reality. He uses either oil or acrylic according to his desire and his imagination
Seeing this superb achievement, a house facade that slides towards the ground and deforms, I immediately thought of Salvador Dali's soft watches

This is Gabe. You might observe that his left eye looks a bit odd... It is. That's his good eye. The one hidden from view is... let's just say it's seriously damaged. He's been nearly blind from birth, but don't tell him, he doesn't know, and he functions remarkably well, even with his limited vision. This was taken the day a new kitten arrived in the house, and he's scoping out the new guy from a safe distance. Within six hours, they were asleep on the same couch. They're best buddies now.
