A hybrid avatar by Alpho Fullstop - this one half moth, half human. Comes with male/female skins, wings, mohawk, arm braces and boots.

Our latest are two cyber avatars:
"Frequent Flier" has been created by Alpho Fullstop and takes its inspirations from aviation. You have all the signage and predominant colors of the runway mapped onto your bodysuit and the greatly stylized plane gets attached onto various parts of your body and legs.
"cyborg blues" is by Grapho Fullstop and is inspired by the Insilico sims. Wtih this one you get a helmet that protects you from the pollution, a torso plate with back fastened oxygen tanks, belts, upper leg braces and glow shoes.

A conversation I had with Hack about SL versus RL appearance last night, plus the jealousy I exhibited over Alpha's gorgeous tresses earlier today prompted me to rummage in my inventory for clothes that are like my RL clothes. So, here's the first batch: Denim, black, combat boots - I even have a choker similar to this one that I wear occasionally... My hair is shorter, I do not normally wear this much make-up (if any at all, to be honest), and alas, no tail and cat ears/eyes either... hhhh
Sometimes the regular SL viewer beats Windlight and this is certainly one of those times: The way Synth Uni is visible in the background against the sunset is really good I think.
Neko ears and tail: Ivy Graves
Hair: Six Kennedy
Skin: Toshiya Okawa
Choker: Katati Noel
Combat Boots: DarkLour Watanabe
Denim Jacket and Jeans: Janie Marlowe
T-shirt: June Dion
Designed by Alpho Fullstop, this one is a historical diver's suit (hence the somewhat corny name of "Jules Verne")/cum hybrid creature for men and women, complete with neko and non-neko helmets, fins, oxygen tanks and a school of very funny fish to follow you around in your travels. We are giving away some original Arcadia Asylum attachments, which we completely re-textured, as a gift in a separate box to people who purchase the garment, which also has numerous attachments which we created.

Taking inspiration from Turkish novelist Orhan Pamuk's novel "My name is Red", this one involves Ottoman ornamentation. Men and women get the skin together with a body suit, the pennants, the shoulder pads, a belt with a sword and the Sultan boots.
Oh and - a custom textured pogo stick to lighten it all up: A hopping Sultan/Sultana!

Hookah's or nargile as we call them used to be a thing that one would occasionally see old men smoking when I was a kid. In later years they disappeared almost completely from Turkish culture - only to make a huge comeback over the past 10 years or so. Nowadays it is really young people of all backgrounds and appearance that puff away zealously at the 100s of nargile cafes that can be found all over the place.
I decided to create my own little nargile parlor, under the benevolent gaze of horses and lions. I like the way the hookah looks but much as I like the idea of smoking in the company of animals visually this doesn't look quite how I would like it to look. So, I will probably be rezzing this elsewhere and differently. For now I took the photos to remember the moment....

Can extreme beauty become scary, repulsive even, simply because it falls outside of the scope of what we recognize as human? Alpha is so beautiful here that I am in awe of her. In fact, this is the most removed that I have felt from her since I started on this little adventure in the Uncanny Valley.
Someone sat down and made these! Two someones in fact: All the attachments are designed by aoimizuno Meili, except for the cyborg feet. They are the work of of Marissa Lurra. The cybersuit has been designed by Tomby Karas and the drow skin is, once again, by Loli Nori.
All this batch, and probably many more to come, feature a skin created by Loli Nori. If there is anything I know about, it is skin in Second Life and I have to say Loli's skin is simply the best I have come across anywhere in the metaverse - at any price range - for my facial requirements. And here is the amazing bit: These are freebies, to be found at Bare Rose. Now why Loli does not start up a skin salon and make a fortune, I truly do not know - but that is exactly how it is: These beauties are free!
The pants are by Alfred Kabuki, yet another favorite designer, combined with June Dion's "bandages" and (as an exception for these types of shots) some of my own humble attire...

Simthetiq announced today a successful integration of a new functionality within the Bohemia Interactive Virtual Battle Space 2 (VBS2) platform. The addition—targeted towards battle tank simulators—incorporates a fully working, dynamic clock (peri-UHR), unlocking an added potential to the vehicle’s optics which would normally have remained static.

Well, I suppose my Flickr gets more viewings than theirs, so I am going to upload 2 of these shots here as well. The rest of them are here:

...and the explanation of this somewhat bizarre appearance can be found here:
This one took a lot of planning and engineering: Alpho wanted to create something which was split right down the middle. However, needless to say, the SL avatar templates definitely do not allow for that. So, she overcame that obstacle by builidng a transparent arm. And the problem with that is that it digs a huge big hole into your torso whenever someone looks at you from the side. So, that little problem my furry sister overcame by adding a plate to the side of the body. This is all unisex by the way and comes with male and female skins, assymetric skirts, the hybrid head complete with mohawk and whiskers, paw boots, the arm and plate and an animated solar system. ;-)

The famous Replicator avatar of Grendel's Children. I did not use one in its entirety but assembled the elements of several of them around Alpha; since in their original state these avatars diverge too far from the human and would probably fall outside the Uncanny Valley's threshold.
I have replaced the "Drow" skin with the "Forge" skin designed by Vry Offcourse. This is not really a "nude" skin in that it covers the entire body with metal plates... I think this skin does actually bring Alpha closer into the threshold range.

For some unknown reason I have always been fascinated by old sea disaster paintings. So, Amina, who is the one best suited to the task at hand will be creating a series of these avatars which I then intend to use for constructing "genre photographs". hhh...
This comes with male/female skins where you get the disaster on your tummy (ouch!), garments, a sculpted body drape, leg drapes, belt/skirt, a bandana and shoes.

Again, the Grendel's avatar is called incubus, which does not apply to a female, so Alpha is now the Fog Succubus. This time I colored the originally white prims to black and made them shiny. The skin is the grey version of the Frail skin by Vry Offcourse.
This one has ended up becoming more ominous, although for some strange reason I find the all white smoke succubus more unsettling. But, one way or another, although I enjoy taking these photos, I am feeling very alienated from Alpha as I do it. For the first time since I met her she is no longer a Simulacrum - I can not relate to her or to how she looks. AT ALL!

... which has moved to a subterrenean level. It is located much closer to my sandbox, which is good of course!
But I cannot see eye to eye with the staff. I checked in with a common cold and next thing I find myself on the MRI scanner. And that isn't even the half of it: The technician is talking about amputating my tail and making the (apparently) world famous, Neko Tail soup out of it!
And then... and then... and then... he proceeds to tell me how he has further developments planned for the premises: A Chinese-Russian Restaurant! Again, has the guy never heard of the importance of keeping foodstuffs out of medical environments? But he is quite adamant: "This is SL" he says, "we need not worry about germs and bacteria..."
The description says "a dark RP sim" and that is certainly the feeling that one gets: Dark! It is really quite eerie, and as such it is hugely successful in having fulfilled its design brief: The sense of desolation that gets conveyed is really quite remarkable.
It really is one of the most atmospheric places that I have seen in Second Life.
