Taking inspiration from Turkish novelist Orhan Pamuk's novel "My name is Red", this one involves Ottoman ornamentation. Men and women get the skin together with a body suit, the pennants, the shoulder pads, a belt with a sword and the Sultan boots.
Oh and - a custom textured pogo stick to lighten it all up: A hopping Sultan/Sultana!

I have constructed a scaffold + a circular wire tunnel upon which I am perching the avatars. I am trying out the construct by itself but also with the sea prims through which I am now letting the background peek through. And I think I need to do that even more.
The light is partially local lighting in-world, but also heavily processed in photoshop with both levels and curves. And also there is quite a bit of touching up, particularly on Xiamara's fingernails. I think the next skin I make will have no fingernails. What a stretch nightmare!!! I had never looked so closely! grrrrr...
And now there are 4 of us: myself, Grapho, Amina (dressed as a man) and Xiamara. The poses are Frigg Ragu's, and quite frankly I think the whole undertaking would be a wasted effort if it weren't for the expression and body language which they give to the avatars.
Hookah's or nargile as we call them used to be a thing that one would occasionally see old men smoking when I was a kid. In later years they disappeared almost completely from Turkish culture - only to make a huge comeback over the past 10 years or so. Nowadays it is really young people of all backgrounds and appearance that puff away zealously at the 100s of nargile cafes that can be found all over the place.
I decided to create my own little nargile parlor, under the benevolent gaze of horses and lions. I like the way the hookah looks but much as I like the idea of smoking in the company of animals visually this doesn't look quite how I would like it to look. So, I will probably be rezzing this elsewhere and differently. For now I took the photos to remember the moment....

You know how some aspects of work can sometimes seem pretty petty? Spreadsheets, targets, meetings?
When it gets like this I head down to our Sim Hall, where we are creating bleeding edge virtual environments to educate and train the prospective 21st Century Generation Z leaders who are the key to the prosperity of our future society...
Then it all seems worthwhile. Really worthwhile... Especially the fact that this awesome development space is just downstairs from my desk, and that the company has invested in it.

The Happy Hour outfit is I think one of the funniest that four ever put together. I have merely underscored the highly obvious here, of course: Mademoiselle Demure whips off the grey two piece suit, only to emerge from under the table as Madame Voracious!
Everything else used here comes from the "four is a bird" package - except for the hair by Lola Marquez and the high heeled shoes by Lost Thereian. The Feline skin was created by my newly found furry friend, who has asked for her identity to remain undisclosed. Thus sadly, I am not allowed to share the information regarding that with you.
I met Tegen only once, at Klein, and I have to say that even in that really short moment I felt that I was in the company of someone very special. The truck really is a wonder truck: It can fly, swim, negotiate the wildest terrain - of course with a kick ass driver like Mossy at the wheel.
I love to see this evidence of life on Syncretia, which seems to go on even when I am not around: Mossy has parked the truck in front of the Angry Monkey tent and suddenly the whole place looks inhabited.

Up until about 800 years ago Turks were nomads, living on the plains of Central Asia. So, contrary to popular misconception, we are not a middle eastern/Arabic culture but an oriental one; the closest linguistic relatives being Korean and Japanese. And apparently my own looks kick back to a great grandfather from Bukhara...
So, what better dwelling than a tent for a virtual nomad?
This one is from Angry Monkey, although I changed all of the original textures. Those were quite nice too but not exactly right for Syncretia.
This comes with male/female skins, garments, unisex skirts, a unisex spine, furry glow snout and headgear, sculpty slippers, and arm drapes.

This time Alpha is a siren, yet another not-so-desirable female archetype. She is a mixture of fish, zebra and human. I will also be trying out the golden ocelot skin with this one. She does look like the sort of female that not much good can be expected from I must say... However, does she fall into the Valley?
I got the siren assembly kit at Grendel's and practically re-did an avatar using Flea Bussy's prims. The original avatar has always seemed somewhat meager to me in terms of fins and so on. Here, I multiplied each fin by at least 8 and re-attached the same bunch to spine, pelvis and stomach. The Zebra skin came today as a present from Vry Offcourse, who incidentally, is one of my acquaintances in SL. We met through my photos of the Ocelot skin and we have been sporadically keeping up ever since - a state of affiars soon to improve I hope: Turns out Vry and I are colleagues. She too is a graphic designer. So, as soon as this work frenzy of mine is over we will get together and hang out a bit; comparing our taste in fonts no doubt... hhhh
All this batch, and probably many more to come, feature a skin created by Loli Nori. If there is anything I know about, it is skin in Second Life and I have to say Loli's skin is simply the best I have come across anywhere in the metaverse - at any price range - for my facial requirements. And here is the amazing bit: These are freebies, to be found at Bare Rose. Now why Loli does not start up a skin salon and make a fortune, I truly do not know - but that is exactly how it is: These beauties are free!
June Dion rules! And so do the boots by Solange Cerveau and the hair by Aleri Darkes...

Again, the Grendel's avatar is called incubus, which does not apply to a female, so Alpha is now the Fog Succubus. This time I colored the originally white prims to black and made them shiny. The skin is the grey version of the Frail skin by Vry Offcourse.
This one has ended up becoming more ominous, although for some strange reason I find the all white smoke succubus more unsettling. But, one way or another, although I enjoy taking these photos, I am feeling very alienated from Alpha as I do it. For the first time since I met her she is no longer a Simulacrum - I can not relate to her or to how she looks. AT ALL!

Amina wanted to do something "middle eastern", and no amount of lecturing on my part on the lamentable fact that we would not be able to belly-dance our way out of a paper bag could stop her.
So, here it is folks. A full set of belly-dance silks (+ some very nice sculpty high heel sandals and hair) available now at alpha.tribe:

This is truly horrifiying. I had a really hard time doing this...
I saw the Cyborg skin on space ship designer Ichtyo Broome, but seeing it on someone else is not quite the same as putting it on yourself. I did have a sense that clothing Alpha in this skin would be a very difficult thing to do and it took me a really long time to even decide to go out and purchase the skin. But finally I did it yesterday. The bones are the bones of the whale avatar of Flea Bussy.
So, this is the end of the road for now: I have raked this as deep as I think can go at the moment without totally cracking up over it. One of my favorite writers is Mishima and what I think of as one of his best books is entitled "The Decay of the Angel". And that is what should probably be the title of these.
Hack and wolfie rez more and more planes, creating a really bizarre conglomeration of wings and engines. The sound generated by so many planes alone was quite something!

Back out on the street. The overwhelming sense of desolation this place conveys is really surprising...
Male/Female skins and attachments. There is a particle attachment on the spine, however, one really has to see it in action to get the effect.

Trust a turkish woman to set one up!
Actually Hack started me on this by putting the barbecued sardines on the table! So, cantaloupe, white cheese, eggplant salad and taramasalata and the grilled fish. The raki is not of the best quality though, couldn't find my preferred brand on google...
Can extreme beauty become scary, repulsive even, simply because it falls outside of the scope of what we recognize as human? Alpha is so beautiful here that I am in awe of her. In fact, this is the most removed that I have felt from her since I started on this little adventure in the Uncanny Valley.
Someone sat down and made these! Two someones in fact: All the attachments are designed by aoimizuno Meili, except for the cyborg feet. They are the work of of Marissa Lurra. The cybersuit has been designed by Tomby Karas and the drow skin is, once again, by Loli Nori.
Xiamara's third outfit in this series of quasi-historic avatars comes with male/female skins, garments, skirt/belt, hat, collar, boots, sleeves and upper leg drapes.

I add the clockwork skin created by Pandora Wrigglesworth to the steampunk arms and legs and remove the hair and ears. Now, I think, Alpha is closer to the Valley.
There definitely has to be something to this theory: I do not feel good subjecting Alpha to all of this and the subtle shifts from human to only peripherally human make me feel decidedly uncomfortable.

Cyborg attachments: Lucia Cyr

These are the first trials in a series which will involve all my alt avatars and which I will eventually gather together as a narrative web domain. I am going to try and construct a sort of a tale based upon Shakespearean quotes and sonnets, without a real storyline, loosely woven out of the doings of a group of avatars who love Shakespeare and Rachel Ruysch.
All the poses used are Frigg Ragu's: If it weren't for the narrative potential which these open up to me, it would never even have occurred to me to do something like this.

The mohawk which I recommend for this outfit is called "Thunderdrome". For me it is the mohawk amongst mohawks in SL. And you will need to put it on before you know all the reasons. It has been created by none other than the amazing Ms. Helena Stringer. Not only amazing for talent but also for generosity: She is giving away this beauty as a dollarbie texture tester at her store at Lyashko:
