Variable-leaved Nemophila (Nemophila heterophylla) a/k/a Small Baby Blue Eyes, White Nemophila. North Table Mountain. Near Oroville, Butte Co., Calif.
I'm not 100% sure about this bird being 'Variable Wheatear' It seems like a 'Hume's Wheatear' too with all those bright colors as opposed to the dull colors on the former but I've seen WV just as brightly colored & I guess HW isn't that common. That doesn't mean this bird is in abundance. He was the only one in the big desert like place.
This is just a beautiful onion and one of my favorites so I have to show this series which reflects the minor details in each individual of this variable species.
