This is a photograph taken at the Donadea Forest 10KM race and fun run which was held in Donadea Forest, Donadea, Naas, Co. Kildare, Ireland on Saturday 12th October 2012 at 11:00. This is the 6th running of this event and the race has grown from year to year. St Kevins GAA club in Staplestown provides the venue for the start and the finish of the 10KM race is deep with the forest beside the lake and coffee shop. As a race it has grown to be a very popular event and comes in good timing for a last fast run for athletes aiming for personal bests and fast times in the forthcoming Dublin City Marathon. The race combines about 3KM of road race before entering the Forest and completing a full lap of the inner perimeter trail route of the Forest before finishing beside the Lake/Coffee Shop area in the middle of the Forest.
Event management and racing timing was provided by Precision Timing [www.precisiontiming.net/]

Overall Race Summary
Participants: There was approximately 300 participants.
Weather: The race was held on a bright clear crisp autumn morning. There was a slight breeze against the participants for the firs 2.5KM on the road but the forest canopy provided shelter from the breeze. Temperatures were perfect for running.
Course: The race starts at the Stapelstown crossroads at the bog-road to Prosperous and heads north on the road on the outside of the forest. The course then takes a right turn at The Range and again follows the perimeter of the forest. The race then enters the forest here [goo.gl/maps/LFIPq] and proceeds on an anti-clockwise full loop of the inner perimeter route around the forest. This brings participants past the lake twice with the second passing bringing runners into the finish. The route overall is one which could be considered a fast course. However there are two hills in the forest which must be tackled twice. However the shelter of the forest means that the final 7KM of the race are run in a wind-sheltered environment.
Location Map: Start Area: goo.gl/maps/C7Jwo (Google Streetview) and St. Kevins GAA goo.gl/maps/2Znix (Google Streetview). The finish area is in the Forest and located beside the lake (goo.gl/maps/SViUs Google Satellite)
Refreshments Refreshments were provided to participants in St. Kevin's GAA club goo.gl/maps/2Znix

I ran in the race - but my photograph doesn't appear here in your Flickr set! What gives?
As mentioned above we take these photographs as a hobby and as a voluntary contribution to the running community in Ireland. Very often we have actually ran in the same race and then switched to photographer mode after we finished the race. Consequently, we feel that we have no obligations to capture a photograph of every participant in the race. However, we do try our very best to capture as many participants as possible. But this is sometimes not possible for a variety of reasons:
►You were hidden behind another participant as you passed our camera
►Weather or lighting conditions meant that we had some photographs with blurry content which we did not upload to our Flickr set
►There were too many people - some races attract thousands of participants and as amateur photographs we cannot hope to capture photographs of everyone
►We simply missed you - sorry about that - we did our best!
You can email us petermooney78 AT gmail DOT com to enquire if we have a photograph of you which didn't make the final Flickr selection for the race. But we cannot promise that there will be photograph there. As alternatives we advise you to contact the race organisers to enquire if there were (1) other photographs taking photographs at the race event or if (2) there were professional commercial sports photographers taking photographs which might have some photographs of you available for purchase. You might find some links for further information above.
Don't like your photograph here?
That's OK! We understand!
If, for any reason, you are not happy or comfortable with your picture appearing here in this photoset on Flickr then please email us at petermooney78 AT gmail DOT com and we will remove it as soon as possible. We give careful consideration to each photograph before uploading.

This is a very early Erik Anton Berg firmer chisel. It should not be confused for a butt chisel, rather the blade has been heavily used and repeatedly sharpened.
I have decided to see if this 32 mm chisel could still be useful for tenons or heavy paring.
The handle is a work in progress but the wood is a lovely piece of plum from y own garden. The top of the handle has been fitted with an old work out saw nut which I've hammered flat and slightly widened.
This useful herb grows wild here in the USA. Until about 65 years ago, it could be cultivated freely. Something went wrong, though.
This is a photograph from the Forest Marathon festival 2013 which was held in the beautiful Coillte forest of Portumna in Co. Galway, Ireland on Saturday 15th June 2013. The event includes a 10k, a full marathon, a half marathon and two ultra-running events - a 50k and 100k race. The races started at 08:00 with the 100KM, the 50KM at 10:00, and subsequent races at two hour intervals onwards. All events started and finished within the forest with the exception of the half marathon and marathon which started outside of the forest. All events see participants complete 5KM loops of the forest which start and end at the car-park/amenity end of the forest. There is an official Refreshment/Handling Zones at this point on the loop.
The event was organised by international coach Sebastien Locteau from SportsIreland.ie and his fantastic team of volunteers from Galway and beyond. Congratulations to Seb on organising a very professionally run event and an event which is growing bigger and more prestigious with each passing year. There was an incredible atmosphere amongst the runners, the spectators, and the organisers. Hats off to everyone involved.
The marathon, 50KM, and 100KM events are sanctioned by Athletics Ireland and AIMS (the Association of International Marathons and Distance Races). The event has also achieved IAU (International Association of Ultrarunners) Bronze Label status for 2013.
Electronic timing was provided by RedTagTiming: www.redtagtiming.com/
Energy Bars, Gels, Drinks etc were provided by Fuel4Sport: www.fuel4sport.ie/
This is a set of photographs taken at various points on the 5KM loop in the Forest and contains photographs of competitors from all of the events except the 10KM race.

The word "collie" was a regional word in ancient Celtic for "something useful". As the breed could be found mainly around the borders between England, Wales and Scotland, they were called "Border Collies". Now you know.
A useful two pocket clutch with a unique style. The Pocket Clutch is divided into two separate inner sections; lift the first flap to get into one pocket, lift the second to get into the next. Despite its small stature, you can neatly fit quite a bit into this clutch without loosing it's lovely shape.
Constructed of vintage gray/blue twill (with a subtle striped pattern) and cream colored recycled corduroy, and fully lined with vintage floral cotton. The Pocket Clutch has two inner pockets, secured with antiqued copper snaps, and is garnished with the hu.made logo. All hu.made bags are fully interfaced for extra structure and durability.

The RLH was a small but interesting (and useful) bus type, where a total of 76 of which were built for London Transport's Central Area red and Country Area green bus routes when they were built by AEC and Weymann Limited between 1950 and 1952, with this design of Weymann bodywork with the ribbed roof making these vehicles look a lot older in appearance. The London Transport Central Area red RLHs ran on routes 127, 178, 230 and 248/248A where these bus routes necessitated the need for double-deckers but with these bus routes also passing beneath low railway bridges. The nearest routes to Dagenham to operate RLHs were routes 248 and 248A, which operated from Hornchurch out to the village of Cranham near Upminster where the RLHs used on routes 248 and 248A were operated out of the former Hornchurch (RD) bus garage. The last London Transport red bus route to operate RLHs in normal service was route 178 out of the former Dalston (D) bus garage in April 1971.

The chuck however, leaves something to be desired, removing bits from it often requires the grip of a vice.
