From the age of 11 until present day I have idolised this man. Out of all the celebrity deaths in 2016 this one has hit me the hardest. I feel like a part of my childhood has been ripped away. Funny how artists become a huge part of your life, through their songs you get to be personal with them.
🎧 George Michael - A Different Corner
So many songs to choose from, but this has a special place in my heart.

Macro Mondays theme In Ice
A simple image of a frozen snow drop.
I experimented with various ideas until I gave I up. The trouble with ice is that it has a tendency to melt and by the time you get to a subject or composition that you like it's all over and gone.
After a few days of messing around and sad news coming in that my Godmother had been taken gravely ill with the virus, I found this solitary snow drop that I had frozen last week. It seemed quite apt under the circumstances.
This photo is dedicated to all those who have lost loved ones to this awful virus.
HMM
[The width of the ice cube is 3cm, the overall image is around 7cm and within the MM requirements.]
Dania Beach (Dania until 1998) is a city in Broward County, Florida, United States. As of the 2020 census, the city's population was 31,723. It is part of the South Florida metropolitan area, which was home to 5,564,635 people at the 2010 census. Dania Beach is the location of one of the largest jai alai frontons in the United States, The Casino at Dania Beach.[8] It was formerly the location for two amusement centers; one named Boomers! (formerly Grand Prix Race-O-Rama), which housed the Dania Beach Hurricane roller coaster, and the other being Pirates World amusement park, which was featured in Barry Mahon's Thumbelina. It is also home to the International Game Fish Association Hall of Fame and Museum.
Hello There!
Macro Mondays is a weekly theme-based challenge group. This week's theme was "Trash!" No kidding! I felt like a garbage hoarder until I could figure out what to photograph!
The "person" and "hat" were made from the peel of a roasted sweet potato and the background is the used parchment paper. The figure is 2-1/4" high. Happy Macro Mondays! HMM!
Thanks a million for stopping by and for leaving a comment. I do love hearing from you!
Have a terrific day and week!

I had no idea that this was a Newfoundland word until one day I went to look it up in the dictionary. (I know...why would someone do this but I tend to be a word nerd.) Well, my definition of the word 'squish' was not found in Webster or any other until I checked out my Newfoundland Dictionary. (Yes, there is one, I have it, and it is huge!) So here it is as I know it, "asquish (also squish, squish-ways): aslant; diagonally; awry; askew; out of alignment; in desperate straits."

I was mad at myself, pissed at the world
It was hard to get up, but I put one foot
In front of the other, kept on keepin' on
Going through the motions until
There was no hard feelings
And no bad vibes
I can honestly say
I'm happy to see the happy back in your eyes
You found somebody
Who painted your grey skies blue
Do I wish it was me? Hell yeah
Am I all the way over the pain? Not yet
But the sun keeps coming up, baby
And I'm still breathing
And there's no hard feelings

I have to admit to lots of moving the sliders backwards and forwards in Lightroom until I finally got the shadows as visible as they are in the picture!
Yosemite National Park is an amazing place for landscape photography. On this day it was raining and overcast until the last little bit of light in the evening.
Thanks for stopping by
I went to clean the old wren nest out of this birdhouse at Chipera Prairie and found this cute little deer mouse using the abandoned birdhouse as its cozy winter home. Since there won't be any house wrens around to start nesting again until next May, I let the deer mouse keep its new claim until then.
I thought I'd have a look at some old unpublished images of badgers from the Peak District - for some reason I've not shared these until now!
Virginia Spiderwort (Tradescantia virginiana), a beautiful and unique wildflower native to the Eastern United States. As often happens with wild flowers, Spiderwort is actually sold in garden centers & nurseries now. Their brilliant three-lobed, blue/purple flowers close up with the late day sun and re-open at first light - so these aren't buds but the flowers which have closed for the evening. :)

The George Brown Darwin Botanic Gardens are botanical gardens located 2 km North of the CBD of Darwin, Northern Territory, Australia.
The gardens were established on their present site in 1886; this was the third attempt by European settlers of Darwin to establish a site where plants of economic importance could be tested for their suitability in the tropics. Initially the collection of the gardens was focussed on economic gardening and the ornamental plantings. The gardens were severely damaged during Cyclone Tracy in 1974, 89% of all plants were lost. Restoration after the cyclone was led by George Brown, who had worked at the gardens since 1969 and served as curator from 1971 to 1990, and became Lord Mayor of Darwin in 1992 until 2002. The gardens were renamed in 2002 to recognise George Brown's contribution and 32 years service to the development of the gardens.
In 2000 Darwin's historic former Wesleyan Methodist church was moved from Knuckey Street and reconstructed at the Gardens. It is the oldest surviving building in Darwin. Today, the old church building houses Eva's Botanical Gardens Cafe.
The gardens contain a major collection of Northern Australian monsoon flora; these include communities like mangroves, monsoon vine thicket, Tiwi Islands wet forest and those found on the Arnhem Land escarpment. The gardens also has a large collection of native and introduced tropical plants including cycads, palms, Adansonia, gingers and heliconias.
We're right in the thick of it now as a Kitchener line train ploughs it's way along track one through Humberview trying to keep up with the intense snowfall. At this point in time the snow was falling at a rate of about 5-10cm's per hour quickly erasing the path the last train that went through made.
I could barely see this train coming as it's ditchlights seemed to be flashing as the snow obstructed them and I didn't hear this guy until it was right on top of me. The snow consumed any noise that was present making for a rather relaxing and unforgettable morning while on duty.
That's what Paddy believes & he's not moving until he sees them.

I just couldn't get what I wanted.
maybe the lumen gods deserted me yesterday. I tried sun exposure and under the sunlamp and a combination of the two.
I'm not impressed with how they turned out.
ah...but wait until I post the camellia lumen disaster.
sometimes it just doesn't work for me.

You can't go to Hong Kong without going to Victoria Peak. A true perspective on how many people are really here.
Until now I haven't posted anything from what also makes Nepal attractive for tourists, and these are the three King cities. All three are situated in the Kathmandu valley, and the cities are Kathmandu, Patan and Bhaktapur.
Bhaktapur was the city I enjoyed most. Patan and Kathmandu were very busy and dirty, but in Bhaktapur they are realizing that in the city center where a lot of tourists are coming, people don't like to see garbage and plastic everywhere. And that until now is unique for Nepal, they collect garbage, you can see garbage bins everywhere, and (most) people even throw garbage in these bins.
The temple here is the largest temple in Nepal, and it has survived the big earthquake from 2015. Many buildings in the three cities are still being restored from that disaster.
I really enjoyed Bhaktapur, in contrast to Patan that I more a less hated.

The former McArthur Woolen Mill (1871-early 1960s) and Island in Carleton Place, Ontario, Canada.
This five-storey stone structure was constructed by Archibald McArthur in 1871, and served in the beginning as a woolen mill with several different owners until 1907.
In 1907, McArthur Mill was acquired by Bates and Innis who converted the old woolen mill to a knitting factory and ceased operations in the early 1960s.
It is located on McArthur Island, which was man-made, much to my surprise.
One can read more about its history here:
