Ever changing light!

Mornings like this one justify why I sometimes just setup the tripod and stay rooted to the same spot for sometimes over an hour.

Watching the blue hour tones give way to yellows, oranges and reds until the sun rises and shows the natural greens of the countryside and blue from the clear sky!

The rolling mist just adds some lovely atmosphere and mood to the conditions around!

Þingvellir was the site of the Alþing, the annual parliament of Iceland from the year 930 until the last session held at Þingvellir in 1798. Since 1881, the parliament has been located within Alþingishúsið in Reykjavík.

Þingvellir is now a national park in the municipality of Bláskógabyggð in southwestern Iceland, about 40 km (25 miles) northeast of Iceland's capital, Reykjavík. Þingvellir is a site of historical, cultural, and geological significance, and is one of the most popular tourist destinations in Iceland. The park lies in a rift valley that marks the crest of the Mid-Atlantic Ridge and the boundary between the North American and Eurasian tectonic plates. To its south lies Þingvallavatn, the largest natural lake in Iceland.

Þingvellir National Park was founded in 1930, marking the 1000th anniversary of the Althing. The park was later expanded to protect the diverse and natural phenomena in the surrounding area, and was designated as a World Heritage Site in 2004.

Þingvellir became a national park as a result of legislation passed in 1928 to protect the remains of the parliament site, thus creating the first national park in Iceland. The park was decreed "a protected national shrine for all Icelanders, the perpetual property of the Icelandic nation under the preservation of parliament, never to be sold or mortgaged.

According to the Book of Settlements (Landnámabók), the settlement of Iceland began in 874, when the Norwegian chieftain Ingólfr Arnarson became the first permanent Norwegian settler on the island. Over the next centuries, people of Norse and Celtic origin settled in Iceland. Early on, district assemblies were formed, but as the population grew, there was a need for a general assembly. The descendants of Ingólfur who dominated the region of southwest Iceland had become the most powerful family in the country, and other chieftains felt a need for a general assembly to limit their power.

Grímur Geitskör was allotted the role of rallying support and finding a suitable location for the assembly. At about the same time, the owner of Bláskógar (the contemporary name for the Þingvellir region) was found guilty of murder. His land was declared public, and then obligated to be used for assembly proceedings, and the building of temporary dwellings, and the forest to be used for kindling and the grazing of horses. The Þingvellir area was chosen for this reason and for its accessibility to the most populous regions of the north, south and west. The longest journey a goði (chieftain) had to travel was 17 days, from the easternmost part of the country where mountains and glacial rivers proved bothersome obstacles.

The foundation of the Icelandic parliament is said to be the founding of the nation of Iceland, and the first parliamentary proceedings in the summer of 930 laid the ground for a common cultural heritage and national identity. Þingvellir played a central role in the history of the country, and its history runs almost parallel with the history of the Icelandic Commonwealth.

Thanks for travelling along with me. Here's to many more grand adventures.

Winter has not passed until the April moon glitters.

The contrast between the two statements is evident.

Yet the latest news say that winter is really over.

Record temperatures over most of Europe and Central / Northern Italy, at the beginning of March will also arrive in Southern Italy

Obviously not hold in consideration of the sudden changes of the weather nowadays ....

Probably this is the news expected by everyone and the speech ends here .... and they lived happily ever after ...

This is Perugia, my regional capital, I must say that I found the city in great shape compared to the last time I visited and I had also spoken here ... clean, well lit, many nice places to eat "young" cheap, .... I hope it is not just an impression of my enthusiasm ....

I hope you have a good week, flickr friends : )

Walking along the harbor in Oban, Scotland on a very windy day, I found myself quite alone until these patient seagullscaught my eye. They quietly waited for the incoming tide, scanning the waves for something good to eat.

While on a drive-about in the boonies, I passed these cows that were heading for home. Now, sitting in traffic waiting to be "escorted" through a construction zone (one lane for a couple of miles), I glanced in my mirror and saw that they are about to pass me. Traffic sucks.

The Austonian held the crown of tallest building in Austin for nine years until The Independent surpassed it by only seven feet in 2019. Located at 200 Congress Ave., the 683-foot tall, 56-story building is a modern architectural icon in this rapidly growing city.

This post modern skyscraper was designed by Ziegler Cooper Architects of Houston. At the time of its completion in 2010, the Austrian was both the tallest building in Austin, and the tallest residential skyscraper in the United States west of the Mississippi River. Both distinctions are now held by The Independent, although another downtown Austin tower, Sixth and Guadalupe and still under construction, has already topped out at its final height of 865-feet and is scheduled to be completed in the second half of 2023.

Austin is the capital of the State of Texas, as well as the seat of Travis County. With a population of just under one million residents, Austin is the 11th largest city in the United States. The Austin-Round Rock-San Marcos Metropolitan Area, now with a population of 2.3M, is one of the fastest growing large metropolitan areas in the country having added more than 579,000 residents since 2010.

Foro Romano - Roma - Italia / Roman Forum - Rome - Italy

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Foro Romano

The Roman Forum

The Roman Forum, also known by its Latin name Forum Romanum (Italian: Foro Romano), is a rectangular forum (plaza) surrounded by the ruins of several important ancient government buildings at the center of the city of Rome. Citizens of the ancient city referred to this space, originally a marketplace, as the Forum Magnum, or simply the Forum.

For centuries the Forum was the center of day-to-day life in Rome: the site of triumphal processions and elections; the venue for public speeches, criminal trials, and gladiatorial matches; and the nucleus of commercial affairs. Here statues and monuments commemorated the city's great men. The teeming heart of ancient Rome, it has been called the most celebrated meeting place in the world, and in all history.Located in the small valley between the Palatine and Capitoline Hills, the Forum today is a sprawling ruin of architectural fragments and intermittent archaeological excavations attracting 4.5 million or more sightseers yearly.

Many of the oldest and most important structures of the ancient city were located on or near the Forum. The Roman Kingdom's earliest shrines and temples were located on the southeastern edge. These included the ancient former royal residence, the Regia (8th century BC), and the Temple of Vesta (7th century BC), as well as the surrounding complex of the Vestal Virgins, all of which were rebuilt after the rise of imperial Rome.

Other archaic shrines to the northwest, such as the Umbilicus Urbis and the Vulcanal (Shrine of Vulcan), developed into the Republic's formal Comitium (assembly area). This is where the Senate—as well as Republican government itself—began. The Senate House, government offices, tribunals, temples, memorials and statues gradually cluttered the area.

Over time the archaic Comitium was replaced by the larger adjacent Forum and the focus of judicial activity moved to the new Basilica Aemilia (179 BC). Some 130 years later, Julius Caesar built the Basilica Julia, along with the new Curia Julia, refocusing both the judicial offices and the Senate itself. This new Forum, in what proved to be its final form, then served as a revitalized city square where the people of Rome could gather for commercial, political, judicial and religious pursuits in ever greater numbers.

Eventually much economic and judicial business would transfer away from the Forum Romanum to the larger and more extravagant structures (Trajan's Forum and the Basilica Ulpia) to the north. The reign of Constantine the Great saw the construction of the last major expansion of the Forum complex—the Basilica of Maxentius (312 AD). This returned the political center to the Forum until the fall of the Western Roman Empire almost two centuries later.

The lakes of Covadonga are two small lakes, Enol and Ercina, of glacial origin located in the Asturian part of the Picos de Europa national park, in the western massif of said mountain chain. There is a third lake, Bricial, which only has water during the thaw, but also belongs to the group

They are located in the municipality of Cangas de Onís and are accessed through a 14.5 km road that begins in the Royal Site of Covadonga to first reach Lake Enol, also including a small road that would take them to Lake Ercina. Its frequent use since 1983 as the end of the stage in the Cycling Tour of Spain has made the place internationally popular.

The massive influx of tourists, especially cycling fans, has forced the development of cycling events in the Los Lagos area to be limited. However, the area has a tourist infrastructure.

The excessive influx of visitors, especially in high season, has also meant that access by car to the Lakes is restricted, with access only possible using public transport enabled for this purpose. Private vehicles cannot circulate on the access road to Los Lagos for 6 months a year, during high season. In low season, there are no access restrictions with a private vehicle.

In the vicinity of Lake Ercina, in Buferrera, iron, manganese and mercury mines were exploited until 1979. People who visit this area have at their disposal a parking lot "Buferrera parking", a visitor center, a shelter and two restaurant bars for their enjoyment.

From the age of 11 until present day I have idolised this man. Out of all the celebrity deaths in 2016 this one has hit me the hardest. I feel like a part of my childhood has been ripped away. Funny how artists become a huge part of your life, through their songs you get to be personal with them.

🎧 George Michael - A Different Corner

So many songs to choose from, but this has a special place in my heart.

Taken at: Elysion

Ever since I was a small child I loved this little bird and dreamed that some day I would see him. Up until that point I only saw it on the cover of a book. My first glimpse of one was in Connecticut many years later and I stopped the car to take in his beauty !! He is small but packed with gorgeous colors. Last week I was able to capture an image in Central Florida . Needless to say I was thrilled .

Wishing you a beautiful and blessed day !!!!!!!!!!!

I live in a region with a very mild climate (figs, almond trees often bloom from the end of February). Our roses bloom until December, sometimes even January. The hoarfrost a few days ago decorated it bizarrely. But now these flowers have withered, there are still new buds.

Rock formations in northwestern part of Bulgaria, seen on an autumn afternoon, more to come from this place. My minor social media problems are being replaced by a psycho colleague at work (it's not a Harvey Weinstein/Kevin Spacey type of conflict in case anyone assumes that), which is much more serious, I'm sorry if my participation lessens in the coming days until i figure out a way to deal with that situation.

THANKS FOR YOUR VISIT AND FAVES

ON THE REACTIONS I WILL TRY TO RESPOND BACK

Virginia Spiderwort (Tradescantia virginiana), a beautiful and unique wildflower native to the Eastern United States. As often happens with wild flowers, Spiderwort is actually sold in garden centers & nurseries now. Their brilliant three-lobed, blue/purple flowers close up with the late day sun and re-open at first light - so these aren't buds but the flowers which have closed for the evening. :)

I had to get up very early on Friday to drop off my wife at the Portland Jetport. I took advantage to that to stop and take in the sunrise over the Portland harbor. The structure is what remains of a railroad trestle for the Grand Trunk Railroad dating back to the late 1800's, In 1984 it was badly damaged by a fire and had been left in that state until a year or so ago when the section on the right was removed as it had become quite hazardous to boat traffic. I did not know that part had been removed and was rather disappointed to find it missing.

How I love dogs for their strong intentions. 💖

You can see it in his eyes!!!
